2013-05-04ARM: OMAP2+: Fix unmet direct dependencies for SERIAL_OMAPTony Lindgren1-2/+0
Commit 8a6201b9 (ARM: OMAP2+: Fix unmet direct dependencies for zoom for 8250 serial) fixed unmet direct dependencies for 8250, but failed to do the same for omap serial. This can cause the following warning: warning: (ARCH_OMAP2PLUS_TYPICAL) selects SERIAL_OMAP which has unmet direct dependencies (TTY && HAS_IOMEM && GENERIC_HARDIRQS && ARCH_OMAP2PLUS). We should not select drivers, they should be selected by the user. Fix the issue by removing the select and adding them to omap2plus_defconfig instead. 2013-04-23ARM: OMAP2+: add dependencies on ARCH_MULTI_V6/V7Arnd Bergmann1-0/+5
CONFIG_ARCH_OMAP2PLUS depends on (ARCH_MULTI_V6 || ARCH_MULTI_V7) as of a0694861 "ARM: OMAP2+: Enable ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM support", but the individual OMAP2/3/4/5 and AM33XX platforms can all be selected independent of what we are building for, which is a bug and prevents us from easily building e.g. an ARMv7-only defconfig. This makes ARCH_OMAP2 depend on ARCH_MULTI_V6 and the others depend on ARCH_MULTI_V7, to ensure we really only build the platforms for the CPUs we have enabled in the global multiplatform configuration step. 2013-04-09ARM: Push selects for TWD/SCU into machine entriesStephen Boyd1-0/+2
The TWD and SCU configs are selected by default as long as MSM_SCORPIONMP is false and/or MCT is false. Implementing the logic this way certainly saves lines in the Kconfig but it precludes those machines which select MSM_SCORPIONMP or MCT from participating in the single zImage effort because when those machines are combined with other SMP capable machines the TWD and SCU are no longer selected by default. Push the select out to the machine entries so that we can compile these machines together and still select the appropriate configs. 2013-01-31arm: arch_timer: move core to drivers/clocksourceMark Rutland1-1/+1
The core functionality of the arch_timer driver is not directly tied to anything under arch/arm, and can be split out. This patch factors out the core of the arch_timer driver, so it can be shared with other architectures. A couple of functions are added so that architecture-specific code can interact with the driver without needing to touch its internals. The ARM_ARCH_TIMER config variable is moved out to drivers/clocksource/Kconfig, existing uses in arch/arm are replaced with HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER, which selects it. 2013-01-11ARM: OMAP2+: Disable code that currently does not work with multiplaformTony Lindgren1-1/+1
We still need to fix up few places for multiplatform support, but that can proceed separately. Fix the issue by making the problem drivers depends !ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM for now. The remaining pieces that are not multiplatform compatible for omap2+ SoCs are: 1. Some drivers are using custom omap_dm_timer calls There are two drivers that are directly usign omap hardware timers for PWM and DSP clocking: drivers/media/rc/ir-rx51.c and drivers/staging/tidspbridge/core/dsp-clock.c. These can be fixed for multiplatform by allowing a minimal set of hardware timers to be accessed, and for some functionality by using the hrtimer framework. 2. Hardware OMAP4_ERRATA_I688 needs to be fixed up This can't be enabled for multiplatform configurations in it's current form. It may be possible to fix it up to do instruction replacement early on during init. Luckily it looks like this errata does not seem to get hit with mainline kernel code alone at least currently. 3. Legacy header needed for omap-sham.c Looks like it still needs mach/irqs.h for omap1 that does not exist for multiplatform systems. Just ifdef it for now. 4. Mailbox is waiting to get moved to drivers Disable it for now to avoid adding a dependency to the mailbox patches. 2012-12-14ARM: OMAP2+: Fix realtime_counter_init warning in timer.cJon Hunter1-1/+2
In commit fa6d79d (ARM: OMAP: Add initialisation for the real-time counter), the function realtime_counter_init() was added. However, if the kernel configuration option CONFIG_SOC_OMAP5 is not selected then the following compiler warning is observed. CC arch/arm/mach-omap2/timer.o arch/arm/mach-omap2/timer.c:489:20: warning: ‘realtime_counter_init’ defined but not used [-Wunused-function] Commit fa6d79d also introduced the kernel configuration option CONFIG_SOC_HAS_REALTIME_COUNTER. If this option is not selected then the a stub function for realtime_counter_init() is defined. For non-OMAP5 devices, there is no realtime counter and so realtime_counter_init() function and stub function are not used for these devices. Therefore, fix this warning by only allowing the kernel configuration option CONFIG_SOC_HAS_REALTIME_COUNTER to be enabled for OMAP5 devices. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pjw/omap-pending into omap-for-v3.8/clock Convert the OMAP2+ clock code and data to rely on the common clock framework for internal bookkeeping and the driver API. Basic test logs for this branch on top of Tony's cleanup-prcm branch at commit c9d501e5cb0238910337213e12a09127221c35d8 are here: http://www.pwsan.com/omap/testlogs/common_clk_devel_3.8_rebase/20121112192516/ However, cleanup-prcm at c9d501e5 does not include some fixes that are needed for a successful test. With several reverts, fixes, and workarounds applied, the following test logs were obtained: http://www.pwsan.com/omap/testlogs/TEST_common_clk_devel_3.8_rebase/20121112192300/ which indicate that the series tests cleanly. N.B. The common clock data addition patches result in many checkpatch warnings of the form "WARNING: static const char * array should probably be static const char * const". However, it appears that resolving these would require changes to the CCF itself. So the resolution of these warnings is being postponed until that can be coordinated. These patches result in a ~55KiB increase in runtime kernel memory usage when booting omap2plus_defconfig kernels. 2012-10-13ARM: config: sort select statements alphanumericallyRussell King1-34/+34
As suggested by Andrew Morton: This is a pet peeve of mine. Any time there's a long list of items (header file inclusions, kconfig entries, array initalisers, etc) and someone wants to add a new item, they *always* go and stick it at the end of the list. Guys, don't do this. Either put the new item into a randomly-chosen position or, probably better, alphanumerically sort the list. lets sort all our select statements alphanumerically. This commit was created by the following perl: while (<>) { while (/\\\s*$/) { $_ .= <>; } undef %selects if /^\s*config\s+/; if (/^\s+select\s+(\w+).*/) { if (defined($selects{$1})) { if ($selects{$1} eq $_) { print STDERR "Warning: removing duplicated $1 entry\n"; } else { print STDERR "Error: $1 differently selected\n". "\tOld: $selects{$1}\n". "\tNew: $_\n"; exit 1; } } $selects{$1} = $_; next; } if (%selects and (/^\s*$/ or /^\s+help/ or /^\s+---help---/ or /^endif/ or /^endchoice/)) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } undef %selects; } print; } if (%selects) { foreach $k (sort (keys %selects)) { print "$selects{$k}"; } } It found two duplicates: Warning: removing duplicated S5P_SETUP_MIPIPHY entry Warning: removing duplicated HARDIRQS_SW_RESEND entry and they are identical duplicates, hence the shrinkage in the diffstat of two lines. 2012-09-19ARM: OMAP: Add initialisation for the real-time counter.Santosh Shilimkar1-0/+4
The real time counter also called master counter, is a free-running counter. It produces the count used by the CPU local timer peripherals in the MPU cluster. The timer counts at a rate of 6.144 MHz. The ratio registers needs to be configured based on system clock only onetime. After initialisation, hardware takes care of adjusting the clock in different low power modes to keep counter rate constant. Signed-off-by: Santosh Shilimkar <santosh.shilimkar@ti.com>

2012-08-23ARM: omap: allow building omap44xx without SMPArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
The new omap4 cpuidle implementation currently requires ARCH_NEEDS_CPU_IDLE_COUPLED, which only works on SMP. This patch makes it possible to build a non-SMP kernel for that platform. This is not normally desired for end-users but can be useful for testing. Without this patch, building rand-0y2jSKT results in: drivers/cpuidle/coupled.c: In function 'cpuidle_coupled_poke': drivers/cpuidle/coupled.c:317:3: error: implicit declaration of function '__smp_call_function_single' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration] It's not clear if this patch is the best solution for the problem at hand. I have made sure that we can now build the kernel in all configurations, but that does not mean it will actually work on an OMAP44xx. 2012-08-07OMAP2+: Fix random config build break with !ARM_CPU_SUSPENDSantosh Shilimkar1-0/+1
The random config builds with PM and !ARM_CPU_SUSPEND breaks with below error on omap2plus_defconfig. arch/arm/mach-omap2/sleep44xx.S:323: undefined reference to `cpu_resume' arch/arm/mach-omap2/omap-mpuss-lowpower.c:278: undefined reference to `cpu_suspend' This is because recently merged OMAP5 platform shares the common files with OMAP4 but doesn't select ARM_CPU_SUSPEND. Pull arm-soc cpuidle enablement for OMAP from Olof Johansson: "Coupled cpuidle was meant to merge for 3.5 through Len Brown's tree, but didn't go in because the pull request ended up rejected. So it just got merged, and we got this staged branch that enables the coupled cpuidle code on OMAP. With a stable git workflow from the other maintainer we could have staged this earlier, but that wasn't the case so we have had to merge it late. The alternative is to hold it off until 3.7 but given that the code is well-isolated to OMAP and they are eager to see it go in, I didn't push back hard in that direction." * tag 'pm2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc: ARM: OMAP4: CPUidle: Open broadcast clock-event device. OMAP4 CPUDILE driver is converted mainly based on notes from the coupled cpuidle patch series. The changes include : - Register both CPUs and C-states to cpuidle driver. - Set struct cpuidle_device.coupled_cpus - Set struct cpuidle_device.safe_state to non coupled state. - Set CPUIDLE_FLAG_COUPLED in struct cpuidle_state.flags for each state that affects multiple cpus. - Separate ->enter hooks for coupled & simple idle. - CPU0 wait loop for CPU1 power transition. - CPU1 wakeup mechanism for the idle exit. - Enabling ARCH_NEEDS_CPU_IDLE_COUPLED for OMAP4. Pull support for three new arm SoC types from Arnd Bergmann: - The mvebu platform includes Marvell's Armada XP and Armada 370 chips, made by the mvebu business unit inside of Marvell. Since the same group also made the older but similar platforms we call "orion5x", "kirkwood", "mv78xx0" and "dove", we plan to move all of them into the mach-mvebu directory in the future. - socfpga is Altera's platform based on Cortex-A9 cores and a lot of FPGA space. This is similar to the Xilinx zynq platform we already support. The code is particularly clean, which is helped by the fact that the hardware doesn't do much besides the parts that are expected to get added in the FPGA. - The OMAP subarchitecture gains support for the latest generation, the OMAP5 based on the new Cortex-A15 core. The function __omap2_set_globals() can be common across all platforms/architectures, even in case of omap4, internally it calls same set of functions as in __omap2_set_globals() function (except for sdrc). 2012-07-05ARM: OMAP2+: am33xx: Make am33xx as a separate classVaibhav Hiremath1-1/+3
Initially, we decided to make am33xx family of device to fall under omap3 class (cpu_is_omap34xx() = true), since it carries Cortex-A8 core. But while adding complete baseport support (like, clock, power and hwmod) support, it is observed that, we are creating more and more problems by treating am33xx device as omap3 family, as nothing matches between them (except cortex-A8 mpu). So, after long discussion we have came to the conclusion that, we should not consider am33xx device as omap3 family, instead create separate class (SOC_AM33XX) under OMAP2PLUS. This means, for am33xx device, cpu_is_omap34xx() will return false, and only cpu_is_am33xx() will be true. 2012-06-29ARM: OMAP2+: fix CONFIG_CPU_IDLE dependency on CONFIG_PMKevin Hilman1-2/+2
commit 164e0cbf60 (ARM: OMAP3/4: consolidate cpuidle Makefile) added an OMAP-specific dependency from CPU_IDLE to CONFIG_PM. This causes some randconfig warnings when CONFIG_PM has unmet dependencies: warning: (ARCH_OMAP3 && ARCH_OMAP4) selects PM which has unmet direct dependencies (PM_SLEEP || PM_RUNTIME) warning: (ARCH_OMAP3 && ARCH_OMAP4) selects PM which has unmet direct dependencies (PM_SLEEP || PM_RUNTIME) warning: (ARCH_OMAP3 && ARCH_OMAP4) selects PM which has unmet direct dependencies (PM_SLEEP || PM_RUNTIME) Fix this by making the dependency on CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME (which in turn will enable CONFIG_PM.) 2012-06-20ARM: OMAP3/4: consolidate cpuidle MakefileDaniel Lezcano1-0/+2
The current Makefile compiles the cpuidle34xx.c and cpuidle44xx.c files even if the cpuidle option is not set in the kernel. This patch fixes this by creating a section in the Makefile where these files are compiled only if the CONFIG_CPU_IDLE option is set. This modification breaks an implicit dependency between CPU_IDLE and PM as they belong to the same block in the Makefile. This is fixed in the Kconfig by selecting explicitely PM is CPU_IDLE is set. The linux coding style recommend to use no-op functions in the headers when the subsystem is disabled instead of adding big section in C files. This patch fix this also. 2012-06-04ARM: OMAP2: Remove legacy USB FS supportTony Lindgren1-2/+0
The FS (Full Speed) USB controller is available on 2420 and 2430, but not being used. Out of the 2420 based boards only Nokia N8X0 are seeing active development and they have external HS (High Speed) TUSB controller. On omap 2430sdp there is MUSB HS controller, so there's no need to use the legacy USB FS controller. That leaves only H4 and Apollon boards that could use the FS USB controller. As both H4 and Apollon boards are old proprietary development boards, it's unlikely that we have any active developers working on those boards using the USB. So remove the FS USB support for omap2 machines. Patches are welcome if somebody wants to instead fix it all up to the current standards.
