In the common sound infrastructure, there are a few changes for dynamic PCM support (used in ASoC) and a few clean-ups. Majority of changes are found, as usual, in HD-audio and ASoC. Some highlights of HD-audio changes: - All the long-standing static quirk codes for Realtek codec were finally removed by fixing and extending the Realtek auto-parser. - The mute-LED control is standardized over all HD-audio codec drivers using the extended vmaster hook. - The vmaster slave mixer elements are initialized to 0dB as default so that the user won't be annoyed by the silent output after updates, e.g. due to the additions of new elements. - Other many fix-ups for the misc HD-audio devices. In the ASoC side, this is a very active release, including a quite a few framework enhancements. Some highlights: - Support for widgets not associated with a CODEC, an important part of the dynamic PCM framework. - A library factoring out the common code shared by dmaengine based DMA drivers contributed by Lars-Peter Clausen. Pull irq_domain support for all architectures from Grant Likely: "Generialize powerpc's irq_host as irq_domain This branch takes the PowerPC irq_host infrastructure (reverse mapping from Linux IRQ numbers to hardware irq numbering), generalizes it, renames it to irq_domain, and makes it available to all architectures. Originally the plan has been to create an all-new irq_domain implementation which addresses some of the powerpc shortcomings such as not handling 1:1 mappings well, but doing that proved to be far more difficult and invasive than generalizing the working code and refactoring it in-place. So, this branch rips out the 'new' irq_domain and replaces it with the modified powerpc version (in a fully bisectable way of course). It converts all users over to the new API and makes irq_domain selectable on any architecture. No architecture is forced to enable irq_domain, but the infrastructure is required for doing OpenFirmware style irq translations. It will even work on SPARC even though SPARC has it's own mechanism for translating irqs at boot time. MIPS, microblaze, embedded x86 and c6x are converted too. 2012-03-06ASoC: imx: move audmux driver into sound/soc/imxShawn Guo2-7/+0
As audmux becomes a platform driver and its callers are all ASoC machine drivers, there is no reason to keep it in arch folder, so move it to sound/soc/imx. One bonus point would be those ASoC machine drivers stop including mach/audmux.h, since it's been moved to sound/soc/imx/imx-audmux.h. This should be a move to the right direction in terms of single kernel image goal. 2012-02-16irq_domain: Remove irq_domain_add_simple()Grant Likely3-5/+6
irq_domain_add_simple() was a stop-gap measure until complete irq_domain support was complete. This patch removes the irq_domain_add_simple() interface. This patch also drops the explicit irq_domain initialization performed by the mach-versatile code because the versatile interrupt controller already has irq_domain support built into it. This was a bug that was hanging around quietly for a while, but with the full irq_domain which actually verifies that irq_domain ranges are available it would cause the registration to fail and the system wouldn't boot. v4: Fixed number of irqs in mx5 gpio code v2: Updated to pass in host_data pointer on irq_domain allocation. 2012-01-23ARM: 7293/1: logical_cpu_map: decouple CPU mapping from SMPWill Deacon1-4/+1
It turns out that the logical CPU mapping is useful even when !CONFIG_SMP for manipulation of devices like interrupt and power controllers when running a UP kernel on a CPU other than 0. This can happen when kexecing a UP image from an SMP kernel. In the future, multi-cluster systems running AMP configurations will require something similar for mapping cluster IDs, so it makes sense to decouple this logic in preparation for this support. 2012-01-13ARM: Add arm_memblock_steal() to allocate memory away from the kernelRussell King3-9/+6
Several platforms are now using the memblock_alloc+memblock_free+ memblock_remove trick to obtain memory which won't be mapped in the kernel's page tables. Most platforms do this (correctly) in the ->reserve callback. However, OMAP has started to call these functions outside of this callback, and this is extremely unsafe - memory will not be unmapped, and could well be given out after memblock is no longer responsible for its management. So, provide arm_memblock_steal() to perform this function, and ensure that it panic()s if it is used inappropriately. Convert everyone over, including OMAP. As a result, OMAP with OMAP4_ERRATA_I688 enabled will panic on boot with this change. Mark this option as BROKEN and make it depend on BROKEN. OMAP needs to be fixed, or 137d105d50 (ARM: OMAP4: Fix errata i688 with MPU interconnect barriers.) reverted until such time it can be fixed correctly. The recent suspend/resume and reset testing on imx6q discovers that not only D-Cache but also I-Cache has random data and validity when the core comes out of a power recycle. 2011-12-19imx6q: Remove unconditional dependency on l2x0 L2 cache supportDave Martin1-1/+0
The i.MX6 Quad SoC will work without the l2x0 L2 cache controller support built into the kernel, so this patch removes the dependency on CACHE_L2X0. This makes the l2x0 support optional, so that it can be turned off when desired for debugging purposes etc. Since SOC_IMX6Q already depends on ARCH_IMX_V6_V7 and ARCH_IMX_V6_V7 selects MIGHT_HAVE_CACHE_L2X0, there is no need to select that option explicitly from SOC_IMX6Q. Making SMP depend on (huge list of MACH_ and ARCH_ configs) is bothersome to maintain and likely to lead to merge conflicts. This patch moves the knowledge of which platforms are SMP-capable to the individual machines. To enable this, a new HAVE_SMP config option is introduced to allow machines to indicate that they can run in a SMP configuration. When gpio core dynamically allocate gpio number for a port, it starts from the end of the total range, 0 ~ ARCH_NR_GPIOS. That said, the earlier a port gets probed, the bigger gpio number it gets assigned. To match this, the irq_base for gpio should be assigned from 'MXC_GPIO_IRQ_START + ARCH_NR_GPIOS' decreasingly. The of_irq_init() expects the callback passed by .data of of_device_id return 'int' instead of 'void'. This patch fixes it to have irq_init_cb() return the correct value, and in turn have the secondary interrupt controller (gpio in this case) initialized properly and also eliminate the error message 'of_irq_init: children remain, but no parents' which was overlooked before.
