2018-06-20ARM: replace unnecessary perl with sed and the shell $(( )) operatorRussell King1-5/+3
[ Upstream commit 6cea14f55474ec71f1098228e0ae5dd2a8f22c0a ] You can build a kernel in a cross compiling environment that doesn't have perl in the $PATH. Commit 429f7a062e3b broke that for 32 bit ARM. Fix it. As reported by Stephen Rothwell, it appears that the symbols can be either part of the BSS section or absolute symbols depending on the binutils version. When they're an absolute symbol, the $(( )) operator errors out and the build fails. Fix this as well. 2018-06-20ARM: dts: correct missing "compatible" entry for ti81xx SoCsGraeme Smecher4-4/+4
[ Upstream commit 647efef69de483f1dd7944ede31b4cae16acb124 ] The missing "compatible" entries are needed by drivers/clk/ti/clkctrl.c, and without them the structures initialized in drivers/clk/ti/clk-814x.c are not passed to configuration code. The result is a "not found from clkctrl data" error message, although boot proceeds anyway. The reason why the compatible is not found is because the board specific files override the SoC compatible without including it. This did not cause any issues until with the clkctrl nodes got introduced. Very lightly tested on a (lurching) AM3874 design that's in the middle of a kernel upgrade from TI's abandoned 2.6.37 tree. Also tested on j5eco-evm and hp-t410 to verify the clkctrl clocks are found. This patch fixes that so the mute pin is actively driven high for mute or low for normal operation. 2018-04-19zboot: fix stack protector in compressed boot phaseHuacai Chen1-8/+1
commit 7bbaf27d9c83037b6e60a818e57bdbedf6bc15be upstream. Calling __stack_chk_guard_setup() in decompress_kernel() is too late that stack checking always fails for decompress_kernel() itself. So remove __stack_chk_guard_setup() and initialize __stack_chk_guard before we call decompress_kernel(). Original code comes from ARM but also used for MIPS and SH, so fix them together. If without this fix, compressed booting of these archs will fail because stack checking is enabled by default (>=4.16). When we removed the inclusion of skeleton.dtsi from the device trees, we broke booting for systems with bootloaders that aren't device tre aware. This can be seen, for example, when appending the device tree blob to the kernel image. The reason booting broke was that the kernel lacked the device_type label in the memory node. Add in a default memory node wth the device_type. It can contain the memory address as the location is fixed for each SoC generation, but the size needs to be added by the bootloader or the board specific dts. Jon attempted to fix the amount of RAM on the BCM958625HR in commit c53beb47f621 ("ARM: dts: NSP: Correct RAM amount for BCM958625HR board") but it seems like we tripped over some poorly documented schematics. The top-level page of the schematics says the board has 2GB, but when you end-up scrolling to page 6, you see two chips of 4GBit (512MB) but what the bootloader really initializes only 512MB, any attempt to use more than that results in data aborts. Fix this again back to 512MB. This stops the driver from trying to probe the ATA slave interface. The vendor code enables the slave interface but the driver in the vendor tree does not make use of it. Setting it to muxmode 0 disables the slave interface: the hardware only has the master interface connected to the one harddrive slot anyways. Without this change booting takes excessive time, so it is very annoying to end users. Trying to boot an RK3328 box with an HS200-capable eMMC, I see said eMMC fail to initialise as it can't run its tuning procedure, because the sample clock is missing. Upon closer inspection, whilst the clock is present in the DT, its name is subtly incorrect per the binding, so __of_clk_get_by_name() never finds it. By inspection, the drive clock suffers from a similar problem, so has never worked properly either. This error has propagated across the 32-bit DTs too, so fix those up. Those values come from the schematic, below you can find a small overview: * reg_aldo1: 3,3V, powers the wifi * reg_aldo2: 2,5V, powers the IO of the RTL8211E * reg_aldo3: 3,3V, powers the audio * reg_dldo1: 3,0V, powers the RTL8211E * reg_dldo2: 2,8V, powers the analog part of the csi * reg_dldo3: 3,3V, powers misc * reg_eldo1: 1,8V, powers the csi * reg_ldo_io1:1,8V, powers the gpio * reg_dc5ldo: needs to be always on This patch updates also the vmmc-supply properties on the mmc0 and mmc2 node to use the allready existent regulators. We can now remove the sunxi-common-regulators.dtsi include since we don't need it anymore.
