Pull networking fixes from David Miller: 1) Handle multicast packets properly in fast-RX path of mac80211, from Johannes Berg. 2) Because of a logic bug, the user can't actually force SW checksumming on r8152 devices. This makes diagnosis of hw checksumming bugs really annoying. Fix from Hayes Wang. 3) VXLAN route lookup does not take the source and destination ports into account, which means IPSEC policies cannot be matched properly. Fix from Martynas Pumputis. 4) Do proper RCU locking in netvsc callbacks, from Stephen Hemminger. 5) Fix SKB leaks in mlxsw driver, from Arkadi Sharshevsky. 6) If lwtunnel_fill_encap() fails, we do not abort the netlink message construction properly in fib_dump_info(), from David Ahern. 7) Do not use kernel stack for DMA buffers in atusb driver, from Stefan Schmidt. 8) Openvswitch conntack actions need to maintain a correct checksum, fix from Lance Richardson. 9) ax25_disconnect() is missing a check for ax25->sk being NULL, in fact it already checks this, but not in all of the necessary spots. Fix from Basil Gunn. 10) Action GET operations in the packet scheduler can erroneously bump the reference count of the entry, making it unreleasable. Fix from Jamal Hadi Salim. Jamal gives a great set of example command lines that trigger this in the commit message. * git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net: (46 commits) net sched actions: fix refcnt when GETing of action after bind net/mlx4_core: Eliminate warning messages for SRQ_LIMIT under SRIOV net/mlx4_core: Fix when to save some qp context flags for dynamic VST to VGT transitions net/mlx4_core: Fix racy CQ (Completion Queue) free net: stmmac: don't use netdev_[dbg, info, ..] before net_device is registered net/mlx5e: Fix a -Wmaybe-uninitialized warning ax25: Fix segfault after sock connection timeout bpf: rework prog_digest into prog_tag tipc: allocate user memory with GFP_KERNEL flag net: phy: dp83867: allow RGMII_TXID/RGMII_RXID interface types ip6_tunnel: Account for tunnel header in tunnel MTU mld: do not remove mld souce list info when set link down be2net: fix MAC addr setting on privileged BE3 VFs be2net: don't delete MAC on close on unprivileged BE3 VFs be2net: fix status check in be_cmd_pmac_add() cpmac: remove hopeless #warning ravb: do not use zero-length alignment DMA descriptor mlx4: do not call napi_schedule() without care openvswitch: maintain correct checksum state in conntrack actions tcp: fix tcp_fastopen unaligned access complaints on sparc ...

2017-01-14tcp: remove thin_dupack featureYuchung Cheng1-12/+0
Thin stream DUPACK is to start fast recovery on only one DUPACK provided the connection is a thin stream (i.e., low inflight). But this older feature is now subsumed with RACK. If a connection receives only a single DUPACK, RACK would arm a reordering timer and soon starts fast recovery instead of timeout if no further ACKs are received. The socket option (THIN_DUPACK) is kept as a nop for compatibility. Note that this patch does not change another thin-stream feature which enables linear RTO. Although it might be good to generalize that in the future (i.e., linear RTO for the first say 3 retries). 2017-01-14tcp: remove early retransmitYuchung Cheng1-14/+5
This patch removes the support of RFC5827 early retransmit (i.e., fast recovery on small inflight with <3 dupacks) because it is subsumed by the new RACK loss detection. More specifically when RACK receives DUPACKs, it'll arm a reordering timer to start fast recovery after a quarter of (min)RTT, hence it covers the early retransmit except RACK does not limit itself to specific inflight or dupack numbers. 2017-01-12i2c: do not enable fall back to Host Notify by defaultDmitry Torokhov1-0/+8
Falling back unconditionally to HostNotify as primary client's interrupt breaks some drivers which alter their functionality depending on whether interrupt is present or not, so let's introduce a board flag telling I2C core explicitly if we want wired interrupt or HostNotify-based one: I2C_CLIENT_HOST_NOTIFY. For DT-based systems we introduce "host-notify" property that we convert to I2C_CLIENT_HOST_NOTIFY board flag. 2017-01-11net: dsa: make "label" property optional for dsa2Vivien Didelot1-12/+8
In the new DTS bindings for DSA (dsa2), the "ethernet" and "link" phandles are respectively mandatory and exclusive to CPU port and DSA link device tree nodes. Simplify dsa2.c a bit by checking the presence of such phandle instead of checking the redundant "label" property. Then the Linux philosophy for Ethernet switch ports is to expose them to userspace as standard NICs by default. Thus use the standard enumerated "eth%d" device name if no "label" property is provided for a user port. This allows to save DTS files from subjective net device names. If one wants to rename an interface, udev rules can be used as usual. Of course the current behavior is unchanged, and the optional "label" property for user ports has precedence over the enumerated name. 2017-01-09siphash: implement HalfSipHash1-3 for hash tablesJason A. Donenfeld1-0/+75
HalfSipHash, or hsiphash, is a shortened version of SipHash, which generates 32-bit outputs using a weaker 64-bit key. It has *much* lower security margins, and shouldn't be used for anything too sensitive, but it could be used as a hashtable key function replacement, if the output is never exposed, and if the security requirement is not too high. The goal is to make this something that performance-critical jhash users would be willing to use. On 64-bit machines, HalfSipHash1-3 is slower than SipHash1-3, so we alias SipHash1-3 to HalfSipHash1-3 on those systems. 64-bit x86_64: [ 0.509409] test_siphash: SipHash2-4 cycles: 4049181 [ 0.510650] test_siphash: SipHash1-3 cycles: 2512884 [ 0.512205] test_siphash: HalfSipHash1-3 cycles: 3429920 [ 0.512904] test_siphash: JenkinsHash cycles: 978267 So, we map hsiphash() -> SipHash1-3 32-bit x86: [ 0.509868] test_siphash: SipHash2-4 cycles: 14812892 [ 0.513601] test_siphash: SipHash1-3 cycles: 9510710 [ 0.515263] test_siphash: HalfSipHash1-3 cycles: 3856157 [ 0.515952] test_siphash: JenkinsHash cycles: 1148567 So, we map hsiphash() -> HalfSipHash1-3 hsiphash() is roughly 3 times slower than jhash(), but comes with a considerable security improvement. 2017-01-09siphash: add cryptographically secure PRFJason A. Donenfeld1-0/+100
SipHash is a 64-bit keyed hash function that is actually a cryptographically secure PRF, like HMAC. Except SipHash is super fast, and is meant to be used as a hashtable keyed lookup function, or as a general PRF for short input use cases, such as sequence numbers or RNG chaining. For the first usage: There are a variety of attacks known as "hashtable poisoning" in which an attacker forms some data such that the hash of that data will be the same, and then preceeds to fill up all entries of a hashbucket. This is a realistic and well-known denial-of-service vector. Currently hashtables use jhash, which is fast but not secure, and some kind of rotating key scheme (or none at all, which isn't good). SipHash is meant as a replacement for jhash in these cases. There are a modicum of places in the kernel that are vulnerable to hashtable poisoning attacks, either via userspace vectors or network vectors, and there's not a reliable mechanism inside the kernel at the moment to fix it. The first step toward fixing these issues is actually getting a secure primitive into the kernel for developers to use. Then we can, bit by bit, port things over to it as deemed appropriate. While SipHash is extremely fast for a cryptographically secure function, it is likely a bit slower than the insecure jhash, and so replacements will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis based on whether or not the difference in speed is negligible and whether or not the current jhash usage poses a real security risk. For the second usage: A few places in the kernel are using MD5 or SHA1 for creating secure sequence numbers, syn cookies, port numbers, or fast random numbers. SipHash is a faster and more fitting, and more secure replacement for MD5 in those situations. Replacing MD5 and SHA1 with SipHash for these uses is obvious and straight-forward, and so is submitted along with this patch series. There shouldn't be much of a debate over its efficacy. Dozens of languages are already using this internally for their hash tables and PRFs. Some of the BSDs already use this in their kernels. SipHash is a widely known high-speed solution to a widely known set of problems, and it's time we catch-up. Signed-off-by: Jason A. 2017-01-03af_packet: TX_RING support for TPACKET_V3Sowmini Varadhan1-2/+7
Although TPACKET_V3 Rx has some benefits over TPACKET_V2 Rx, *_v3 does not currently have TX_RING support. As a result an application that wants the best perf for Tx and Rx (e.g. to handle request/response transacations) ends up needing 2 sockets, one with *_v2 for Tx and another with *_v3 for Rx. This patch enables TPACKET_V2 compatible Tx features in TPACKET_V3 so that an application can use a single descriptor to get the benefits of _v3 RX_RING and _v2 TX_RING. An application may do a block-send by first filling up multiple frames in the Tx ring and then triggering a transmit. This patch only support fixed size Tx frames for TPACKET_V3, and requires that tp_next_offset must be zero. Signed-off-by: Sowmini Varadhan <sowmini.varadhan@oracle.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2017-01-02net: stmmac: remove unused duplicate property snps,axi_allNiklas Cassel1-1/+0
For core revision 3.x Address-Aligned Beats is available in two registers. The DT property snps, aal was created for AAL in the DMA bus register, which is a read/write bit. The DT property snps,axi_all was created for AXI_AAL in the AXI bus mode register, which is a read only bit that reflects the value of AAL in the DMA bus register. Since the value of snps,axi_all is never used in the driver, and since the property was created for a bit that is read only, it should be safe to remove the property. 2016-12-29net: dev_weight: TX/RX orthogonalityMatthias Tafelmeier1-0/+21
Oftenly, introducing side effects on packet processing on the other half of the stack by adjusting one of TX/RX via sysctl is not desirable. There are cases of demand for asymmetric, orthogonal configurability. This holds true especially for nodes where RPS for RFS usage on top is configured and therefore use the 'old dev_weight'. This is quite a common base configuration setup nowadays, even with NICs of superior processing support (e.g. aRFS). A good example use case are nodes acting as noSQL data bases with a large number of tiny requests and rather fewer but large packets as responses. It's affordable to have large budget and rx dev_weights for the requests. But as a side effect having this large a number on TX processed in one run can overwhelm drivers. This patch therefore introduces an independent configurability via sysctl to userland. Signed-off-by: Matthias Tafelmeier <matthias.tafelmeier@gmx.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2016-12-27ACPI / sysfs: Provide quirk mechanism to prevent GPE floodingLv Zheng1-0/+10
Sometimes, the users may require a quirk to be provided from ACPI subsystem core to prevent a GPE from flooding. Normally, if a GPE cannot be dispatched, ACPICA core automatically prevents the GPE from firing. But there are cases the GPE is dispatched by _Lxx/_Exx provided via AML table, and OSPM is lacking of the knowledge to get _Lxx/_Exx correctly executed to handle the GPE, thus the GPE flooding may still occur. The existing quirk mechanism can be enabled/disabled using the following commands to prevent such kind of GPE flooding during runtime: # echo mask > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe00 # echo unmask > /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe00 To avoid GPE flooding during boot, we need a boot stage mechanism. This patch provides such a boot stage quirk mechanism to stop this kind of GPE flooding. This patch doesn't fix any feature gap but since the new feature gaps could be found in the future endlessly, and can disappear if the feature gaps are filled, providing a boot parameter rather than a DMI table should suffice.
