git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rostedt/linux-trace
Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt:
"One new feature was added to ftrace, which is the trace_marker now
supports triggers. For example:
# cd /sys/kernel/debug/tracing
# echo 'snapshot' > events/ftrace/print/trigger
# echo 'cause snapshot' > trace_marker
The rest of the changes are various clean ups and also one stable fix
that was added late in the cycle"

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pcmoore/audit
Pull audit updates from Paul Moore:
"Another reasonable chunk of audit changes for v4.18, thirteen patches
in total.
The thirteen patches can mostly be broken down into one of four
categories: general bug fixes, accessor functions for audit state
stored in the task_struct, negative filter matches on executable
names, and extending the (relatively) new seccomp logging knobs to the
audit subsystem.
The main driver for the accessor functions from Richard are the
changes we're working on to associate audit events with containers,
but I think they have some standalone value too so I figured it would
be good to get them in now.
The seccomp/audit patches from Tyler apply the seccomp logging
improvements from a few releases ago to audit's seccomp logging;
starting with this patchset the changes in
/proc/sys/kernel/seccomp/actions_logged should apply to both the
standard kernel logging and audit.
As usual, everything passes the audit-testsuite and it happens to
merge cleanly with your tree"
[ Heh, except it had trivial merge conflicts with the SELinux tree that
also came in from Paul - Linus ]

Pull IPMI updates from Corey Minyard:
"It's been a busy release for the IPMI driver. Some notable changes:
- A user was running into timeout issues doing maintenance commands
over the IPMB network behind an IPMI controller.
Extend the maintenance mode concept to messages over IPMB and allow
the timeouts to be tuned.
- Lots of cleanup, style fixing, some bugfixes, and such.
- At least one user was having trouble with the way the IPMI driver
would lock the i2c driver module it used.
The IPMI driver was not designed for hotplug. However, hotplug is a
reality now, so the IPMI driver was modified to support hotplug.

Pull xfs updates from Darrick Wong:
"New features this cycle include the ability to relabel mounted
filesystems, support for fallocated swapfiles, and using FUA for pure
data O_DSYNC directio writes. With this cycle we begin to integrate
online filesystem repair and refactor the growfs code in preparation
for eventual subvolume support, though the road ahead for both
features is quite long.
There are also numerous refactorings of the iomap code to remove
unnecessary log overhead, to disentangle some of the quota code, and
to prepare for buffer head removal in a future upstream kernel.
Metadata validation continues to improve, both in the hot path
veifiers and the online filesystem check code. I anticipate sending a
second pull request in a few days with more metadata validation
improvements.
This series has been run through a full xfstests run over the weekend
and through a quick xfstests run against this morning's master, with
no major failures reported.
Summary:
- Strengthen inode number and structure validation when allocating
inodes.
- Reduce pointless buffer allocations during cache miss
- Use FUA for pure data O_DSYNC directio writes
- Various iomap refactorings
- Strengthen quota metadata verification to avoid unfixable broken
quota
- Make AGFL block freeing a deferred operation to avoid blowing out
transaction reservations when running complex operations
- Get rid of the log item descriptors to reduce log overhead
- Fix various reflink bugs where inodes were double-joined to
transactions
- Don't issue discards when trimming unwritten extents
- Refactor incore dquot initialization and retrieval interfaces
- Fix some locking problmes in the quota scrub code
- Strengthen btree structure checks in scrub code
- Rewrite swapfile activation to use iomap and support unwritten
extents
- Make scrub exit to userspace sooner when corruptions or
cross-referencing problems are found
- Make scrub invoke the data fork scrubber directly on metadata
inodes
- Don't do background reclamation of post-eof and cow blocks when the
fs is suspended
- Fix secondary superblock buffer lifespan hinting
- Refactor growfs to use table-dispatched functions instead of long
stringy functions
- Move growfs code to libxfs
- Implement online fs label getting and setting
- Introduce online filesystem repair (in a very limited capacity)
- Fix unit conversion problems in the realtime freemap iteration
functions
- Various refactorings and cleanups in preparation to remove buffer
heads in a future release
- Reimplement the old bmap call with iomap
- Remove direct buffer head accesses from seek hole/data

ASoC: Updates for v4.18
This is a very big update, mainly due to a huge set of new drivers some
of which are individually very large. We also have a lot of fixes for
the topology stuff, several of the users have stepped up and fixed some
the serious issues there, and continued progress on the transition away
from CODEC specific drivers to generic component drivers.
- Many fixes for the topology code, including fixes for the half done
v4 ABI compatibility from Guenter Roeck and other ABI fixes from
Kirill Marinushkin.
- Lots of cleanup for Intel platforms based on Realtek CODECs from Hans
de Goode.
- More followups on removing legacy CODEC things and transitioning to
components from Morimoto-san.
- Conversion of OMAP DMA to the new, more standard SDMA-PCM driver.
- A series of fixes and updates to the rather elderly Cirrus Logic SoC
drivers from Alexander Sverdlin.
- Qualcomm DSP support from Srinivas Kandagatla.
- New drivers for Analog SSM2305, Atmel I2S controllers, Mediatek
MT6351, MT6797 and MT7622, Qualcomm DSPs, Realtek RT1305, RT1306 and
RT5668 and TI TSCS454

"%pCr" formats the current rate of a clock, and calls clk_get_rate().
The latter obtains a mutex, hence it must not be called from atomic
context.
Remove support for this rarely-used format, as vsprintf() (and e.g.
printk()) must be callable from any context.
Any remaining out-of-tree users will start seeing the clock's name
printed instead of its rate.

Pull irq updates from Thomas Gleixner:
- Consolidation of softirq pending:
The softirq mask and its accessors/mutators have many implementations
scattered around many architectures. Most do the same things
consisting in a field in a per-cpu struct (often irq_cpustat_t)
accessed through per-cpu ops. We can provide instead a generic
efficient version that most of them can use. In fact s390 is the only
exception because the field is stored in lowcore.
- Support for level!?! triggered MSI (ARM)
Over the past couple of years, we've seen some SoCs coming up with
ways of signalling level interrupts using a new flavor of MSIs, where
the MSI controller uses two distinct messages: one that raises a
virtual line, and one that lowers it. The target MSI controller is in
charge of maintaining the state of the line.
This allows for a much simplified HW signal routing (no need to have
hundreds of discrete lines to signal level interrupts if you already
have a memory bus), but results in a departure from the current idea
the kernel has of MSIs.

The simple-card driver currently accepts a clock node in the cpu dai
sub-node and only uses it as an alternative to the
'system-clock-frequency' property to get the current frequency.
This patch adds another use of the passed clock node. If mclk-fs is
specified, the clocks in cpu and codec dai sub-nodes will be set to
the calculated rate (stream rate * mclk_fs) in hw_params.
This allows platforms to pass tuneable clocks as phandle that will
automatically be set to the right rates.

Currently, the USB hub core waits for 50 ms after enumerating the
device. This was added to help "some high speed devices" to
enumerate (b789696af8 "[PATCH] USB: relax usbcore reset timings").
On some devices, the time-to-active is important, so we provide
a per-port option to reduce the time to what the USB specification
requires: 10 ms.

The "old" enumeration scheme is considerably faster (it takes
~244ms instead of ~356ms to get the descriptor).
It is currently only possible to use the old scheme globally
(/sys/module/usbcore/parameters/old_scheme_first), which is not
desirable as the new scheme was introduced to increase compatibility
with more devices.
However, in our case, we care about time-to-active for a specific
USB device (which we make the firmware for), on a specific port
(that is pogo-pin based: not a standard USB port). This new
sysfs option makes it possible to use the old scheme on a single
port only.

The qcom-cpufreq-kryo driver reads the msm-id and efuse value from the SoC
to provide the OPP framework with required information.
This is used to determine the voltage and frequency value for each OPP of
operating-points-v2 table when it is parsed by the OPP framework.
This change adds documentation for the DT bindings.
The "operating-points-v2-kryo-cpu" DT extends the "operating-points-v2"
with following parameters:
- nvmem-cells (NVMEM area containig the speedbin information)
- opp-supported-hw: A single 32 bit bitmap value,
representing compatible HW:
0: MSM8996 V3, speedbin 0
1: MSM8996 V3, speedbin 1
