2012-11-12USB: report submission of active URBsAlan Stern1-0/+2
This patch (as1633) changes slightly the way usbcore handled submissions of URBs that are already active. It will now return -EBUSY rather than -EINVAL, and it will call WARN_ONCE to draw people's attention to the bug. 2012-10-22USB: update documentation for URB_ISO_ASAPAlan Stern1-3/+2
This patch (as1611) updates the USB documentation and kerneldoc to give a more precise meaning for the URB_ISO_ASAP flag and to explain more of the details of scheduling for isochronous URBs. 2011-06-17USB: Fix up URB error codes to reflect implementation.Sarah Sharp1-1/+8
Documentation/usb/error-codes.txt mentions that urb->status can be set to -EXDEV, if the isochronous transfer was not fully completed. However, in practice, EHCI, UHCI, and OHCI all only set -EXDEV in the individual frame status, never in the URB status. Those host controller actually always pass in a zero status to usb_hcd_giveback_urb, and rely on the core to set the appropriate status value. The xHCI driver ran into issues with the uvcvideo driver when it tried to set -EXDEV in urb->status, because the driver refused to submit URBs, and the userspace camera application's video froze. Clean up the documentation to reflect the actual implementation. Signed-off-by: Sarah Sharp <sarah.a.sharp@linux.intel.com> Acked-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu>
2010-03-03USB: check the endpoint type against the pipe typeAlan Stern1-2/+4
This patch (as1316) adds some error checking to usb_submit_urb(). It's conditional on CONFIG_USB_DEBUG, so it won't affect normal users. The new check makes sure that the actual type of the endpoint described by urb->pipe agrees with the type encoded in the pipe value. The USB error code documentation is updated to include the code returned by the new check, and the usbfs SUBMITURB handler is updated to use the correct pipe type when legacy user code tries to submit a bulk transfer to an interrupt endpoint. 2006-09-27USB: Dealias -110 code (more complete)Pete Zaitcev1-7/+4
The purpose of this patch is to split off the case when a device does not reply on the lower level (which is reported by HC hardware), and a case when the device accepted the request, but does not reply at upper level. This redefinition allows to diagnose issues easier, without asking the user if the -110 happened "immediately". The usbmon splits such cases already thanks to its timestamp, but it's not always available. I adjusted all drivers which I found affected (by searching for "urb"). Out of tree drivers may suffer a little bit, but I do not expect much breakage. At worst they may print a few messages. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
