2025-02-28dt-bindings: pinctrl: Add pinctrl for Sophgo SG2042 series SoCInochi Amaoto1-0/+129
SG2042 introduces a simple pinctrl device for all configurable pins. For the SG2042 pinctl register file, each register (32 bits) is responsible for two pins, each occupying the upper 16 bits and lower 16 bits of the register. It supports setting pull up/down, drive strength and input schmitt trigger. Add support for SG2042 pinctrl device. 2025-02-28dt-bindings: clock: mediatek: Add SMI LARBs reset for MT8188Friday Yang1-0/+21
On the MediaTek platform, some SMI LARBs are directly connected to the SMI Common, while others are connected to the SMI Sub-Common, which in turn is connected to the SMI Common. The hardware block diagram can be described as follows. SMI-Common(Smart Multimedia Interface Common) | +----------------+------------------+ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | larb0 SMI-Sub-Common0 SMI-Sub-Common1 | | | | | larb1 larb2 larb3 larb7 larb9 For previous discussion on the direction of the code modifications, please refer to: https://lore.kernel.org/all/CAFGrd9qZhObQXvm2_abqaX83xMLqxjQETB2= wXpobDWU1CnvkA@mail.gmail.com/ https://lore.kernel.org/all/CAPDyKFpokXV2gJDgowbixTvOH_5VL3B5H8ey hP+KJ5Fasm2rFg@mail.gmail.com/ On the MediaTek MT8188 SoC platform, we encountered power-off failures and SMI bus hang issues during camera stress tests. The issue arises because bus glitches are sometimes produced when MTCMOS powers on or off. While this is fairly normal, the software must handle these glitches to avoid mistaking them for transaction signals. What's more, this issue emerged only after the initial upstreaming of this binding. Without these patches, the SMI becomes unstable during camera stress tests. The software solutions can be summarized as follows: 1. Use CLAMP to disable the SMI sub-common port after turning off the LARB CG and before turning off the LARB MTCMOS. 2. Use CLAMP to disable/enable the SMI sub-common port. 3. Implement an AXI reset for SMI LARBs. This patch add '#reset-cells' for the clock controller located in image, camera and IPE subsystems. 2025-02-26docs: dt: submitting-patches: Document sending DTS patchesKrzysztof Kozlowski1-2/+17
Document two rules already widely used and enforced by DT maintainers and SoC platform maintainers: 1. DTS patches should be placed at the end of driver patchset to indicate no dependencies of driver code on DTS. 2. DTS patches should be applied via SoC platform maintainers, because it is a driver-independent hardware description. However some driver maintainers are reluctant to pick up portions of patchsets and prefer to take entire set at once. For such cases, the DTS portion should be split into separate patchset, so it will not end up in the driver subsystem integration tree. 2025-02-26dt-bindings: gpio: nxp,pcf8575: add reset GPIOQuentin Schulz1-0/+37
A few of the I2C GPIO expander chips supported by this binding have a RESETN pin to be able to reset the chip. The chip is held in reset while the pin is low, therefore the polarity of reset-gpios is expected to reflect that, i.e. a GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH means the GPIO will be driven high for reset and then driven low, GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW means the GPIO will be driven low for reset and then driven high. If a GPIO is directly routed to RESETN pin on the IC without any inverter, GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW is thus expected. Out of the supported chips, only PCA9670, PCA9671, PCA9672 and PCA9673 show a RESETN pin in their datasheets. They all share the same reset timings, that is 4+us reset pulse[0] and 100+us reset time[0]. When performing a reset, "The PCA9670 registers and I2C-bus state machine will be held in their default state until the RESET input is once again HIGH."[1] meaning we now know the state of each line controlled by the GPIO expander. Therefore, setting lines-initial-states and reset-gpios both does not make sense and their presence is XOR'ed. [0] https://www.nxp.com/docs/en/data-sheet/PCA9670.pdf Fig 22. 2025-02-25dt-bindings: input: Correct indentation and style in DTS exampleKrzysztof Kozlowski3-57/+57
DTS example in the bindings should be indented with 2- or 4-spaces and aligned with opening '- |', so correct any differences like 3-spaces or mixtures 2- and 4-spaces in one binding. No functional changes here, but saves some comments during reviews of new patches built on existing code. Add a port used to connect the SuperSpeed output endpoint to a Type-C connector. Note that the MediaTek XHCI controllers are always in front of a different controller handling the USB HS (usually, MTU3), so the only port that this controller provides is SuperSpeed, while the HighSpeed one comes from elsewhere.
