2025-12-07dt-bindings: pinctrl: toshiba, visconti: Fix number of items in groupsKrzysztof Kozlowski1-12/+14
[ Upstream commit 316e361b5d2cdeb8d778983794a1c6eadcb26814 ] The "groups" property can hold multiple entries (e.g. toshiba/tmpv7708-rm-mbrc.dts file), so allow that by dropping incorrect type (pinmux-node.yaml schema already defines that as string-array) and adding constraints for items. This fixes dtbs_check warnings like: toshiba/tmpv7708-rm-mbrc.dtb: pinctrl@24190000 (toshiba,tmpv7708-pinctrl): pwm-pins:groups: ['pwm0_gpio16_grp', 'pwm1_gpio17_grp', 'pwm2_gpio18_grp', 'pwm3_gpio19_grp'] is too long Fixes: 1825c1fe0057 ("pinctrl: Add DT bindings for Toshiba Visconti TMPV7700 SoC") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Signed-off-by: Krzysztof Kozlowski <krzysztof.kozlowski@linaro.org> Acked-by: Conor Dooley <conor.dooley@microchip.com> Signed-off-by: Linus Walleij <linus.walleij@linaro.org> [ adjusted $ref context ] Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2025-07-17dt-bindings: serial: 8250: Make clocks and clock-frequency exclusiveYao Zi1-1/+1
commit 09812134071b3941fb81def30b61ed36d3a5dfb5 upstream. The 8250 binding before converting to json-schema states, - clock-frequency : the input clock frequency for the UART or - clocks phandle to refer to the clk used as per Documentation/devicetree for clock-related properties, where "or" indicates these properties shouldn't exist at the same time. Additionally, the behavior of Linux's driver is strange when both clocks and clock-frequency are specified: it ignores clocks and obtains the frequency from clock-frequency, left the specified clocks unclaimed. It may even be disabled, which is undesired most of the time. But "anyOf" doesn't prevent these two properties from coexisting, as it considers the object valid as long as there's at LEAST one match. Let's switch to "oneOf" and disallows the other property if one exists, precisely matching the original binding and avoiding future confusion on the driver's behavior. 2024-12-14dt_bindings: rs485: Correct delay valuesLino Sanfilippo1-2/+2
[ Upstream commit 885dcb08c93d75b784468e65fd4f1f82d5313061 ] Currently the documentation claims that a maximum of 1000 msecs is allowed for RTS delays. However nothing actually checks the values read from device tree/ACPI and so it is possible to set much higher values. There is already a maximum of 100 ms enforced for RTS delays that are set via the UART TIOCSRS485 ioctl. To be consistent with that use the same limit for DT/ACPI values. Although this change is visible to userspace the risk of breaking anything when reducing the max delays from 1000 to 100 ms should be very low, since 100 ms is already a very high maximum for delays that are usually rather in the usecs range. 2024-12-14ASoC: dt-bindings: mt6359: Update generic node name and dmic-modeMacpaul Lin1-5/+5
[ Upstream commit 4649cbd97fdae5069e9a71cd7669b62b90e03669 ] Some fix and updates in the following items: 1. examples: Update generic node name to 'audio-codec' to comply with the coming change in 'mt6359.dtsi'. This change is necessary to fix the dtbs_check error: pmic: 'mt6359codec' does not match any of the regexes: 'pinctrl-[0-9]+' 2. mediatek,dmic-mode: After inspecting the .dts and .dtsi files using 'mt6359-codec', it was discovered that the definitions of 'two wires' and 'one wire' are inverted compared to the DT schema. For example, the following boards using MT6359 PMIC: - mt8192-asurada.dtsi - mt8195-cherry.dtsi These boards use the same definitions of 'dmic-mode' as other boards using MT6358 PMIC. The meaning of '0' or '1' has been noted as comments in the device trees. Upon examining the code in [1] and [2], it was confirmed that the definitions of 'dmic-mode' are consistent between "MT6359 PMIC" and "MT6358 PMIC". Therefore, the DT Schema should be correct as is. commit 97e32381d0fc6c2602a767b0c46e15eb2b75971d upstream. Linux kernel uses thermal zone node name during registering thermal zones and has a hard-coded limit of 20 characters, including terminating NUL byte. The bindings expect node names to finish with '-thermal' which is eight bytes long, thus we have only 11 characters for the reset of the node name (thus 10 for the pattern after leading fixed character). [ Upstream commit 23885389dbbbbc698986e77a45c1fc44a6e3632e ] Commit e428e250fde6 ("ARM: dts: Configure system timers for omap3") caused a timer regression for beagleboard revision c where the system clockevent stops working if omap3isp module is unloaded. Turns out we still have beagleboard revisions a-b4 capacitor c70 quirks applied that limit the usable timers for no good reason. This also affects the power management as we use the system clock instead of the 32k clock source. Let's fix the issue by adding a new omap3-beagle-ab4.dts for the old timer quirks. This allows us to remove the timer quirks for later beagleboard revisions. We also need to update the related timer quirk check for the correct compatible property. 2022-01-27dt-bindings: thermal: Fix definition of cooling-maps contribution propertyNiklas Söderlund1-5/+4
[ Upstream commit 49bcb1506f2e095262c01bda7fd1c0db524c91e2 ] When converting the thermal-zones bindings to yaml the definition of the contribution property changed. The intention is the same, an integer value expressing a ratio of a sum on how much cooling is provided by the device to the zone. But after the conversion the integer value is limited to the range 0 to 100 and expressed as a percentage. This is problematic for two reasons. - This do not match how the binding is used. Out of the 18 files that make use of the property only two (ste-dbx5x0.dtsi and ste-hrefv60plus.dtsi) sets it at a value that satisfy the binding, 100. The remaining 16 files set the value higher and fail to validate. - Expressing the value as a percentage instead of a ratio of the sum is confusing as there is nothing to enforce the sum in the zone is not greater then 100. This patch restore the pre yaml conversion description and removes the value limitation allowing the usage of the bindings to validate. 2021-11-18regulator: s5m8767: do not use reset value as DVS voltage if GPIO DVS is ↵Krzysztof Kozlowski1-13/+8
disabled commit b16bef60a9112b1e6daf3afd16484eb06e7ce792 upstream. The driver and its bindings, before commit 04f9f068a619 ("regulator: s5m8767: Modify parsing method of the voltage table of buck2/3/4") were requiring to provide at least one safe/default voltage for DVS registers if DVS GPIO is not being enabled. IOW, if s5m8767,pmic-buck2-uses-gpio-dvs is missing, the s5m8767,pmic-buck2-dvs-voltage should still be present and contain one voltage. This requirement was coming from driver behavior matching this condition (none of DVS GPIO is enabled): it was always initializing the DVS selector pins to 0 and keeping the DVS enable setting at reset value (enabled). Therefore if none of DVS GPIO is enabled in devicetree, driver was configuring the first DVS voltage for buck[234]. Mentioned commit 04f9f068a619 ("regulator: s5m8767: Modify parsing method of the voltage table of buck2/3/4") broke it because DVS voltage won't be parsed from devicetree if DVS GPIO is not enabled. After the change, driver will configure bucks to use the register reset value as voltage which might have unpleasant effects. Fix this by relaxing the bindings constrain: if DVS GPIO is not enabled in devicetree (therefore DVS voltage is also not parsed), explicitly disable it. [ Upstream commit baf8d6899b1e8906dc076ef26cc633e96a8bb0c3 ] The PWM pins on North Bridge on Armada 37xx can be configured into PWM or GPIO functions. When in PWM function, each pin can also be configured to drive low on 0 and tri-state on 1 (LED mode). The current definitions handle this by declaring two pin groups for each pin: - group "pwmN" with functions "pwm" and "gpio" - group "ledN_od" ("od" for open drain) with functions "led" and "gpio" This is semantically incorrect. The correct definition for each pin should be one group with three functions: "pwm", "led" and "gpio". Change the "pwmN" groups to support "led" function. Remove "ledN_od" groups. This cannot break backwards compatibility with older device trees: no device tree uses it since there is no PWM driver for this SOC yet. Also "ledN_od" groups are not even documented.
