2013-12-19i8k: Use driver_data field of dmi_system_id to override fan multiplierGuenter Roeck1-1/+10
At least on Studio 1555 and XPS M140, the fan speed is reported directly, not with the default speed multiplier of 30. Information on the web suggests that this may be true for other models as well, though it is unknown at this time which systems may be affected. Use the driver_data field of dmi_system_id to override the default fan multiplier value for the two systems known to use a multiplier of 1. 2013-12-19i8k: Force SMM to run on CPU 0Guenter Roeck1-2/+17
On Studio 1555 with dual-core CPU, reading sensor attributes exported by this driver resulted in random failures combined with system hangups and forced logouts. Information in drivers/firmware/dcdbas.c suggests that SMM accesses must run on CPU 0. With this patch, the problems are gone, suggesting that this is in fact the case. Code derived from drivers/firmware/dcdbas.c. 2013-12-18ALSA: hda - Add Dell headset detection quirk for one more laptop modelHui Wang1-0/+1
On the Dell machines with codec whose Subsystem Id is 0x10280640, no external microphone can be detected when plugging a 3-ring headset. Using ALC255_FIXUP_DELL1_MIC_NO_PRESENCE can fix this problem. 2013-12-18KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Don't drop low-order page address bitsPaul Mackerras1-0/+1
Commit caaa4c804fae ("KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Fix physical address calculations") unfortunately resulted in some low-order address bits getting dropped in the case where the guest is creating a 4k HPTE and the host page size is 64k. By getting the low-order bits from hva rather than gpa we miss out on bits 12 - 15 in this case, since hva is at page granularity. This puts the missing bits back in. 2013-12-18ext4: fix deadlock when writing in ENOSPC conditionsJan Kara1-12/+0
Akira-san has been reporting rare deadlocks of his machine when running xfstests test 269 on ext4 filesystem. The problem turned out to be in ext4_da_reserve_metadata() and ext4_da_reserve_space() which called ext4_should_retry_alloc() while holding i_data_sem. Since ext4_should_retry_alloc() can force a transaction commit, this is a lock ordering violation and leads to deadlocks. Fix the problem by just removing the retry loops. These functions should just report ENOSPC to the caller (e.g. ext4_da_write_begin()) and that function must take care of retrying after dropping all necessary locks. imx_drm_crtc_register() doesn't clean up the CRTC upon failure, which leaves the CRTC attached to the DRM device. Also, it does setup after attaching the CRTC to the DRM device. Fix this by reordering the function such that we do the setup before drm_crtc_init(): this fixes both issues. Enable lock claims that it is serializing tve_enable/disable calls. However, DRM already serialises mode sets with a mutex, which prevents encoder/connector functions being called concurrently. Secondly, holding a spinlock while calling clk_prepare_enable() is wrong; it will cause a might_sleep() warning should that debugging be enabled. So, let's just get rid of the enable_lock.
