2011-03-04sched: Allow users with sufficient RLIMIT_NICE to change from SCHED_IDLE policyDarren Hart1-4/+7
The current scheduler implementation returns -EPERM when trying to change from SCHED_IDLE to SCHED_OTHER or SCHED_BATCH. Since SCHED_IDLE is considered to be a nice 20 on steroids, changing to another policy should be allowed provided the RLIMIT_NICE is accounted for. 2011-03-04sched: Allow SCHED_BATCH to preempt SCHED_IDLE tasksDarren Hart1-5/+7
Perform the test for SCHED_IDLE before testing for SCHED_BATCH (and ensure idle tasks don't preempt idle tasks) so the non-interactive, but still important, SCHED_BATCH tasks will run in favor of the very low priority SCHED_IDLE tasks. 2011-03-04sched: Fix sched rt group scheduling when hierachy is enabledBalbir Singh1-5/+9
The current sched rt code is broken when it comes to hierarchical scheduling, this patch fixes two problems 1. It adds redundant enqueuing (harmless) when it finds a queue has tasks enqueued, but it has no run time and it is not throttled. 2. The most important change is in sched_rt_rq_enqueue/dequeue. The code just picks the rt_rq belonging to the current cpu on which the period timer runs, the patch fixes it, so that the correct rt_se is enqueued/dequeued. Tested with a simple hierarchy /c/d, c and d assigned similar runtimes of 50,000 and a while 1 loop runs within "d". Both c and d get throttled, without the patch, the task just stops running and never runs (depends on where the sched_rt b/w timer runs). With the patch, the task is throttled and runs as expected. 2011-03-04x86-64, NUMA: Revert NUMA affine page table allocationTejun Heo4-58/+8
This patch reverts NUMA affine page table allocation added by commit 1411e0ec31 (x86-64, numa: Put pgtable to local node memory). The commit made an undocumented change where the kernel linear mapping strictly follows intersection of e820 memory map and NUMA configuration. If the physical memory configuration has holes or NUMA nodes are not properly aligned, this leads to using unnecessarily smaller mapping size which leads to increased TLB pressure. For details, http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1104672 Patches to fix the problem have been proposed but the underlying code needs more cleanup and the approach itself seems a bit heavy handed and it has been determined to revert the feature for now and come back to it in the next developement cycle. http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.kernel/1105959 As init_memory_mapping_high() callsites have been consolidated since the commit, reverting is done manually. Also, the RED-PEN comment in arch/x86/mm/init.c is not restored as the problem no longer exists with memblock based top-down early memory allocation. This means it is configuring too many GPIOs and on the case of the Cragganmore means we're seeing an overflow of the ROW pins causing problems with the keyboard driver. This patch modifies the number of total GPIO lines for Bank F for Samsung S5P6440 and S5P6450 SoCs from 2 to 16. This is necessary as the GPIO lines from 0 to 13 are reserved and only lines 14 and 15 are used. As during initialization, the line number starts at 0, putting 2 does not solve the intended purpose. 2011-03-04DNS: Fix a NULL pointer deref when trying to read an error key [CVE-2011-1076]David Howells2-4/+25
When a DNS resolver key is instantiated with an error indication, attempts to read that key will result in an oops because user_read() is expecting there to be a payload - and there isn't one [CVE-2011-1076]. Give the DNS resolver key its own read handler that returns the error cached in key->type_data.x[0] as an error rather than crashing. Also make the kenter() at the beginning of dns_resolver_instantiate() limit the amount of data it prints, since the data is not necessarily NUL-terminated. Without this dns_resolver_instantiate() will return -EINVAL and the key will not be instantiated such that it can be read. If we mark the connection CLOSED we will give up trying to reconnect to this server instance. That is appropriate for things like a protocol version mismatch that won't change until the server is restarted, at which point we'll get a new addr and reconnect. An authorization failure like this is probably due to the server not properly rotating it's secret keys, however, and should be treated as transient so that the normal backoff and retry behavior kicks in. 2011-03-04LSM: Pass -o remount options to the LSMEric Paris4-0/+28
The VFS mount code passes the mount options to the LSM. The LSM will remove options it understands from the data and the VFS will then pass the remaining options onto the underlying filesystem. This is how options like the SELinux context= work. The problem comes in that -o remount never calls into LSM code. So if you include an LSM specific option it will get passed to the filesystem and will cause the remount to fail. An example of where this is a problem is the 'seclabel' option. The SELinux LSM hook will print this word in /proc/mounts if the filesystem is being labeled using xattrs. If you pass this word on mount it will be silently stripped and ignored. But if you pass this word on remount the LSM never gets called and it will be passed to the FS. The FS doesn't know what seclabel means and thus should fail the mount. The socket SID would be computed on creation and no longer inherit its creator's SID by default. Socket may have a different type but needs to retain the creator's role and MLS attribute in order not to break labeled networking and network access control. The kernel value for a class would be used to determine if the class if one of socket classes. If security_compute_sid is called from userspace the policy value for a class would be mapped to the relevant kernel value first.
