There is measurable performance impact in some synthetic tests due to commit 6d390e4b5d48 (locks: fix a potential use-after-free problem when wakeup a waiter). Fix the race condition instead by clearing the fl_blocker pointer after the wake_up, using explicit acquire/release semantics. This does mean that we can no longer use the clearing of fl_blocker as the wait condition, so switch the waiters over to checking whether the fl_blocked_member list_head is empty. 2020-03-18modpost: Get proper section index by get_secindex() instead of st_shndxXiao Yang1-1/+2
(uint16_t) st_shndx is limited to 65535(i.e. SHN_XINDEX) so sym_get_data() gets wrong section index by st_shndx if requested symbol contains extended section index that is more than 65535. In this case, we need to get proper section index by .symtab_shndx section. Module.symvers generated by building kernel with "-ffunction-sections -fdata-sections" shows the issue. 2020-03-18mm: slub: be more careful about the double cmpxchg of freelistLinus Torvalds1-2/+4
This is just a cleanup addition to Jann's fix to properly update the transaction ID for the slub slowpath in commit fd4d9c7d0c71 ("mm: slub: add missing TID bump.."). The transaction ID is what protects us against any concurrent accesses, but we should really also make sure to make the 'freelist' comparison itself always use the same freelist value that we then used as the new next free pointer. Jann points out that if we do all of this carefully, we could skip the transaction ID update for all the paths that only remove entries from the lists, and only update the TID when adding entries (to avoid the ABA issue with cmpxchg and list handling re-adding a previously seen value). But this patch just does the "make sure to cmpxchg the same value we used" rather than then try to be clever. 2020-03-18mm: slub: add missing TID bump in kmem_cache_alloc_bulk()Jann Horn1-0/+9
When kmem_cache_alloc_bulk() attempts to allocate N objects from a percpu freelist of length M, and N > M > 0, it will first remove the M elements from the percpu freelist, then call ___slab_alloc() to allocate the next element and repopulate the percpu freelist. ___slab_alloc() can re-enable IRQs via allocate_slab(), so the TID must be bumped before ___slab_alloc() to properly commit the freelist head change. Fix it by unconditionally bumping c->tid when entering the slowpath. Commit 77654350306a ("take compat TIOC[SG]SERIAL treatment into tty_compat_ioctl()") changed the compat version of TIOCGSERIAL to start checking for the presence of the ->set_serial function pointer rather than ->get_serial. This appears to be a copy-and-paste error, since ->get_serial is the function pointer that is called as well as the pointer that is checked by the non-compat version of TIOCGSERIAL. Fix this by checking the correct function pointer. 2020-03-18ath11k: Perform per-msdu rx processingSriram R11-318/+245
As Hash based reo destination selection is configured, the decapped packets reach different reo destintion rings based on the destintaion ring selected for the computed hash (based on the 5-tuple {ip src/ip dst/src port/dst port/protocol}) by hw and as configured by driver. Hence the current implementation of amsdu list based processing after all the subframes of amsdu are received (since all msdu's for a pdev are received in same reo dest ring), is not applicable here and hence is replaced with per msdu based handling as these subframes can be received in different reo dest rings. Also, as some of the rx descriptor fields might be valid only for the first msdu (for ex. received 80211 header, encryption type, etc), it might not be useful now as we cannot sync between different subframes received in different rings. Hence do not rely on those fields and replace them with fieds valid only on per msdu descriptors. Also cache other details such as encryption type for a peer so that it can be reused when a packet is received from it. 2020-03-18ath11k: Configure hash based reo destination ring selectionSriram R7-5/+94
Current implementation of pdev based reo destination ring selection is replaced by hash based ring selection so as to ensure all the available rings are utilized for better performance. The 4 reo destination rings are selected by the HW based on the hash value computed from the received packet based on the 5 tuple {ip src/ip dst/src port/dst port/protocol}. Out of the 32 hash values used by the hw, the driver assigns 8 values per reo destination ring to each of the 4 reo destination rings. Before dumping tx_stats proper validation was not been taken care of. Due to which we were encountering null pointer dereference(kernel panic). This scenario will arise when a station is getting disconnected and we are changing the STA state by ath11k_mac_op_sta_state and assigning tx_stats as NULL and after this the mac80211 will destroy the debugfs entry from where we are trying to read the stats. If anyone tries to dump tx_stats for that STA in between setting tx_stats to NULL and debugfs file removal without checking the NULL value it will run into a NULL pointer exception. Proceeding with the analysis of "ARM Kernel Panic". The APSS crash happened due to OOPS on CPU 3. 2020-03-18Bluetooth: Do not cancel advertising when starting a scanDmitry Grinberg1-17/+0
BlueZ cancels adv when starting a scan, but does not cancel a scan when starting to adv. Neither is required, so this brings both to a consistent state (of not affecting each other). Some very rare (I've never seen one) BT 4.0 chips will fail to do both at once. Even this is ok since the command that will fail will be the second one, and thus the common sense logic of first-come-first-served is preserved for BLE requests. This patch adds support for manipulating vlan/tunnel mappings. The tunnel ids are globally unique and are one per-vlan. There were two trickier issues - first in order to support vlan ranges we have to compute the current tunnel id in the following way: - base tunnel id (attr) + current vlan id - starting vlan id This is in line how the old API does vlan/tunnel mapping with ranges. We already have the vlan range present, so it's redundant to add another attribute for the tunnel range end. It's simply base tunnel id + vlan range. And second to support removing mappings we need an out-of-band way to tell the option manipulating function because there are no special/reserved tunnel id values, so we use a vlan flag to denote the operation is tunnel mapping removal. Add a new option - BRIDGE_VLANDB_ENTRY_TUNNEL_ID which is used to dump the tunnel id mapping. Since they're unique per vlan they can enter a vlan range if they're consecutive, thus we can calculate the tunnel id range map simply as: vlan range end id - vlan range start id. The starting point is the tunnel id in BRIDGE_VLANDB_ENTRY_TUNNEL_ID. This is similar to how the tunnel entries can be created in a range via the old API (a vlan range maps to a tunnel range). last_keep_alive_jiffies is updated in probe and when a keep-alive event is received. In case the driver times-out on a keep-alive event, it has high chances of continuously timing-out on keep-alive events. This is because when the driver recovers from the keep-alive-timeout reset the value of last_keep_alive_jiffies is very old, and if a keep-alive event is not received before the next timer expires, the value of last_keep_alive_jiffies will cause another keep-alive-timeout reset and so forth in a loop. Solution: Update last_keep_alive_jiffies whenever the device is restored after reset.
