As Ben Hutchings discovered [1], the patch for CVE-2011-1017 (buffer overflow in ldm_frag_add) is not sufficient. The original patch in commit c340b1d64000 ("fs/partitions/ldm.c: fix oops caused by corrupted partition table") does not consider that, for subsequent fragments, previously allocated memory is used. Commit 778dd893ae78 ("tmpfs: fix race between umount and swapoff") forgot the new rules for strict atomic kmap nesting, causing WARNING: at arch/x86/mm/highmem_32.c:81 from __kunmap_atomic(), then BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at fffb9000 from shmem_swp_set() when shmem_unuse_inode() is handling swapoff with highmem in use. My disgrace again. map_info The set_vpp() method provided by physmap passes a map_info back to the platform code, which has little relevance as far as the platform is concerned (this parameter is completely unused). Instead, pass the platform_device, which can be used in the pismo driver to retrieve some important information in a nicer way, instead of the hack that was in place. The empty set_vpp function in board-at572d940hf_ek.c is left untouched, as the board/SoC is scheduled for removal.
