tools: iio: replace seekdir() in iio_generic_buffer

[ Upstream commit 4e6500bfa053dc133021f9c144261b77b0ba7dc8 ] Replace seekdir() with rewinddir() in order to fix a localized glibc bug. One of the glibc patches that stable Gentoo is using causes an improper directory stream positioning bug on 32bit arm. That in turn ends up as a floating point exception in iio_generic_buffer. [ Upstream commit 2d3dff577dd0ea8fe9637a13822f7603c4a881c8 ] The iio_generic_buffer can return garbage values when the total size of scan data is not a multiple of the largest element in the scan. This can be demonstrated by reading a scan, consisting, for example of one 4-byte and one 2-byte element, where the 4-byte element is first in the buffer. The IIO generic buffer code does not take into account the last two padding bytes that are needed to ensure that the 4-byte data for next scan is correctly aligned. [ Upstream commit 49d736313d0975ddeb156f4f59801da833f78b30 ] In function size_from_channelarray(), the return value 'bytes' is defined as int type. However, the calcution of 'bytes' in this function is designed to use the unsigned int type. So it is necessary to change 'bytes' type to unsigned int to avoid integer overflow. The size_from_channelarray() is called in main() function, its return value is directly multipled by 'buf_len' and then used as the malloc() parameter. The 'buf_len' is completely controllable by user, thus a multiplication overflow may occur here. This could allocate an unexpected small area. tools: iio: iio_utils: fix digit calculation

commit 72b2aa38191bcba28389b0e20bf6b4f15017ff2b upstream. The iio_utils uses a digit calculation in order to know length of the file name containing a buffer number. The digit calculation does not work for number 0. This leads to allocation of one character too small buffer for the file-name when file name contains value '0'. (Eg. buffer0). Fix digit calculation by returning one digit to be present for number '0'. iio tools fail to build correctly with make parallelization: $ make -s -j24 fixdep: error opening depfile: ./.iio_utils.o.d: No such file or directory make[1]: *** [/home/labbott/linux_upstream/tools/build/Makefile.build:96: iio_utils.o] Error 2 make: *** [Makefile:43: iio_event_monitor-in.o] Error 2 make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
