Set the sof_data->sof_probe_complete callback unconditionally of CONFIG_SND_SOC_SOF_PROBE_WORK_QUEUE. The sof_probe_complete will be called when the sof_probe_continue() function is successfully executed, called either directly from snd_sof_device_probe() or from the scheduled work. Since all error cases within the call chain of snd_sof_device_probe() have error prints, there is no need to print again in the acpi/pci/of level. The SOF-ACPI driver is backwards from the normal Linux model, it has a generic driver that knows about all the specific drivers, as opposed to having hardware specific drivers that link against a common framework. This requires ugly Kconfig magic and leads to missed dependencies as seen in this link error: arm-linux-gnueabi-ld: sound/soc/sof/sof-pci-dev.o: in function `sof_acpi_probe': sof-pci-dev.c:(.text+0x1c): undefined reference to `snd_intel_dsp_driver_probe' Change it to use the normal probe order of starting with a specific device in a driver, turning the sof-acpi-dev.c driver into a library (exported symbols are name-spaced to avoid symbol pollution). For backwards-compatibility with previous Kconfigs, the default values for platform drivers uses the top-level ACPI configurations. The modules were also renamed to allow for gradual transitions in test scripts. The sof-pci-dev driver fails to link when built into the kernel and CONFIG_SND_INTEL_DSP_CONFIG is set to =m: arm-linux-gnueabi-ld: sound/soc/sof/sof-pci-dev.o: in function `sof_pci_probe': sof-pci-dev.c:(.text+0x1c): undefined reference to `snd_intel_dsp_driver_probe' As a temporary fix, use IS_REACHABLE to prevent the problem from happening. A more complete solution is to move this code to Intel-specific parts, restructure the drivers and Kconfig as discussed with Arnd Bergmann and Takashi Iwai. When the probe relies on a workqueue, the completion is not signaled by a return value. Mirror the log already present for PCI probe, so that CI checks can test if the probe actually worked by filtering the console logs. The current structures are not well designed. We include Xtensa information from the ACPI and PCI levels, but at the Kconfig/module level everything Xtensa related is included at the sof/intel level. Move the arch_ops under ops so that Xtensa is hidden in the DSP ops, with a structure that follows the Kconfig/module partition.
