After registering a VLAN device and setting its feature flags, we need to
synchronize the VLAN features with the lower device. For example, the VLAN
device does not have the NETIF_F_LRO flag, it should be synchronized with
the lower device based on the NETIF_F_UPPER_DISABLES definition.

As the dev-&gt;vlan_features has changed, we need to call
netdev_update_features(). The caller must run after netdev_upper_dev_link()
links the lower devices, so this patch adds the netdev_update_features()
call in register_vlan_dev().

<title>net: vlan: fix VLAN 0 refcount imbalance of toggling filtering during runtime</title>

Assuming the "rx-vlan-filter" feature is enabled on a net device, the
8021q module will automatically add or remove VLAN 0 when the net device
is put administratively up or down, respectively. There are a couple of
problems with the above scheme.

The first problem is a memory leak that can happen if the "rx-vlan-filter"
feature is disabled while the device is running:

 # ip link add bond1 up type bond mode 0
 # ethtool -K bond1 rx-vlan-filter off
 # ip link del dev bond1

When the device is put administratively down the "rx-vlan-filter"
feature is disabled, so the 8021q module will not remove VLAN 0 and the
memory will be leaked [1].

Another problem that can happen is that the kernel can automatically
delete VLAN 0 when the device is put administratively down despite not
adding it when the device was put administratively up since during that
time the "rx-vlan-filter" feature was disabled. null-ptr-unref or
bug_on[2] will be triggered by unregister_vlan_dev() for refcount
imbalance if toggling filtering during runtime:

Root cause is as below:

Fix both problems by noting in the VLAN info whether VLAN 0 was
automatically added upon NETDEV_UP and based on that decide whether it
should be deleted upon NETDEV_DOWN, regardless of the state of the
"rx-vlan-filter" feature.

When we enslave the lower device (netdevsim0) which has a vlan, we
propagate vlan's allmuti/promisc flags during ndo_open. This causes
(re)locking on of the real_dev.

Propagate allmulti/promisc on flags change, not on the open. There
is a slight semantics change that vlans that are down now propagate
the flags, but this seems unlikely to result in the real issues.

<title>vlan: enforce underlying device type</title>

Currently, VLAN devices can be created on top of non-ethernet devices.

Besides the fact that it doesn't make much sense, this also causes a
bug which leaks the address of a kernel function to usermode.

When creating a VLAN device, we initialize GARP (garp_init_applicant)
and MRP (mrp_init_applicant) for the underlying device.

As part of the initialization process, we add the multicast address of
each applicant to the underlying device, by calling dev_mc_add.

__dev_mc_add uses dev-&gt;addr_len to determine the length of the new
multicast address.

This causes an out-of-bounds read if dev-&gt;addr_len is greater than 6,
since the multicast addresses provided by GARP and MRP are only 6
bytes long.

This behaviour can be reproduced using the following commands:

Then, the following command will display the address of garp_pdu_rcv:

Commits a602456 ("udp: Add GRO functions to UDP socket") and 57c67ff ("udp:
additional GRO support") introduce incorrect usage of {ip,ipv6}_hdr in the
complete phase of gro. The functions always return skb-&gt;network_header,
which in the case of encapsulated packets at the gro complete phase, is
always set to the innermost L3 of the packet. That means that calling
{ip,ipv6}_hdr for skbs which completed the GRO receive phase (both in
gro_list and *_gro_complete) when parsing an encapsulated packet's _outer_
L3/L4 may return an unexpected value.

This incorrect usage leads to a bug in GRO's UDP socket lookup.
udp{4,6}_lib_lookup_skb functions use ip_hdr/ipv6_hdr respectively. These
*_hdr functions return network_header which will point to the innermost L3,
resulting in the wrong offset being used in __udp{4,6}_lib_lookup with
encapsulated packets.

This patch adds network_offset and inner_network_offset to napi_gro_cb, and
makes sure both are set correctly.

To fix the issue, network_offsets union is used inside napi_gro_cb, in
which both the outer and the inner network offsets are saved.

Reproduction example:

<title>vlan: skip nested type that is not IFLA_VLAN_QOS_MAPPING</title>

In the vlan_changelink function, a loop is used to parse the nested
attributes IFLA_VLAN_EGRESS_QOS and IFLA_VLAN_INGRESS_QOS in order to
obtain the struct ifla_vlan_qos_mapping. These two nested attributes are
checked in the vlan_validate_qos_map function, which calls
nla_validate_nested_deprecated with the vlan_map_policy.

However, this deprecated validator applies a LIBERAL strictness, allowing
the presence of an attribute with the type IFLA_VLAN_QOS_UNSPEC.
Consequently, the loop in vlan_changelink may parse an attribute of type
IFLA_VLAN_QOS_UNSPEC and believe it carries a payload of
struct ifla_vlan_qos_mapping, which is not necessarily true.

To address this issue and ensure compatibility, this patch introduces two
type checks that skip attributes whose type is not IFLA_VLAN_QOS_MAPPING.

This is all caused by command [1] turning off the rx-vlan-filter function
of bond0. The reason is the same as commit 01f4fd270870 ("bonding: Fix
incorrect deletion of ETH_P_8021AD protocol vid from slaves"). Commands
[2] [3] add the same vid to slave and master respectively, causing
command [4] to empty slave-&gt;vlan_info. The following command [5] triggers
this problem.

To fix this problem, we should add VLAN_FILTER feature checks in
vlan_vids_add_by_dev() and vlan_vids_del_by_dev() to prevent incorrect
addition or deletion of vlan_vid information.

This reverts commit 718cb09aaa6fa78cc8124e9517efbc6c92665384.

The commit triggers multiple syzbot issues, probably due to possibility of
manually creating VLAN 0 on netdevice which will cause the code to delete
it since it can't distinguish such VLAN from implicit VLAN 0 automatically
created for devices with NETIF_F_HW_VLAN_CTAG_FILTER feature.
