initcall_blacklist() should return 1 to indicate that it handled its
cmdline arguments.

set_debug_rodata() should return 1 to indicate that it handled its
cmdline arguments.  Print a warning if the option string is invalid.

This prevents these strings from being added to the 'init' program's
environment as they are not init arguments/parameters.

<title>pid: take a reference when initializing `cad_pid`</title>

During boot, kernel_init_freeable() initializes `cad_pid` to the init
task's struct pid.  Later on, we may change `cad_pid` via a sysctl, and
when this happens proc_do_cad_pid() will increment the refcount on the
new pid via get_pid(), and will decrement the refcount on the old pid
via put_pid().  As we never called get_pid() when we initialized
`cad_pid`, we decrement a reference we never incremented, can therefore
free the init task's struct pid early.  As there can be dangling
references to the struct pid, we can later encounter a use-after-free
(e.g.  when delivering signals).

This was spotted when fuzzing v5.13-rc3 with Syzkaller, but seems to
have been around since the conversion of `cad_pid` to struct pid in
commit 9ec52099e4b8 ("[PATCH] replace cad_pid by a struct pid") from the
pre-KASAN stone age of v2.6.19.

Fix this by getting a reference to the init task's struct pid when we
assign it to `cad_pid`.

<title>printk: queue wake_up_klogd irq_work only if per-CPU areas are ready</title>

printk_deferred(), similarly to printk_safe/printk_nmi, does not
immediately attempt to print a new message on the consoles, avoiding
calls into non-reentrant kernel paths, e.g. scheduler or timekeeping,
which potentially can deadlock the system.

Those printk() flavors, instead, rely on per-CPU flush irq_work to print
messages from safer contexts.  For same reasons (recursive scheduler or
timekeeping calls) printk() uses per-CPU irq_work in order to wake up
user space syslog/kmsg readers.

However, only printk_safe/printk_nmi do make sure that per-CPU areas
have been initialised and that it's safe to modify per-CPU irq_work.
This means that, for instance, should printk_deferred() be invoked "too
early", that is before per-CPU areas are initialised, printk_deferred()
will perform illegal per-CPU access.

Lech Perczak [0] reports that after commit 1b710b1b10ef ("char/random:
silence a lockdep splat with printk()") user-space syslog/kmsg readers
are not able to read new kernel messages.

The reason is printk_deferred() being called too early (as was pointed
out by Petr and John).

Fix printk_deferred() and do not queue per-CPU irq_work before per-CPU
areas are initialized.

<title>x86: Fix early boot crash on gcc-10, third try</title>

function which generates the stack canary value.

The whole story started with Sergei reporting a boot crash with a kernel
built with gcc-10:

This happens because gcc-10 tail-call optimizes the last function call
in start_secondary() - cpu_startup_entry() - and thus emits a stack
canary check which fails because the canary value changes after the
boot_init_stack_canary() call.

To fix that, the initial attempt was to mark the one function which
generates the stack canary with:

  __attribute__((optimize("-fno-stack-protector"))) ... start_secondary(void *unused)

however, using the optimize attribute doesn't work cumulatively
as the attribute does not add to but rather replaces previously
supplied optimization options - roughly all -fxxx options.

The key one among them being -fno-omit-frame-pointer and thus leading to
not present frame pointer - frame pointer which the kernel needs.

The next attempt to prevent compilers from tail-call optimizing
the last function call cpu_startup_entry(), shy of carving out
start_secondary() into a separate compilation unit and building it with
-fno-stack-protector, was to add an empty asm("").

This current solution was short and sweet, and reportedly, is supported
by both compilers but we didn't get very far this time: future (LTO?)
optimization passes could potentially eliminate this, which leads us
to the third attempt: having an actual memory barrier there which the
compiler cannot ignore or move around etc.

That should hold for a long time, but hey we said that about the other
two solutions too so...

We get a warning when building kernel with W=1:

When a module option, or core kernel argument, toggles a static-key it
requires jump labels to be initialized early.  While x86, PowerPC, and

Move the fallback call to jump_label_init() to occur before
parse_args().

The redundant calls to jump_label_init() in other archs are left intact

This reverts commit fe53ca54270a ("mm: use early_pfn_to_nid in
page_ext_init").

When booting a system with "page_owner=on",

The issue here is that page_to_nid() will not work since some page flags
have no node information until later in page_alloc_init_late() due to
DEFERRED_STRUCT_PAGE_INIT.  Hence, it could trigger an out-of-bounds
access with an invalid nid.

Add a log message to `run_init_process()`.

This log message serves two purposes.

1.  If the init process is not specified on the Linux Kernel command
    line, the user sees, what file was chosen.

2.  The time stamps shows exactly, when the Linux kernel handed over
    control to the init process.

Allow the initcall tables to be emitted using relative references that
are only half the size on 64-bit architectures and don't require fixups
at runtime on relocatable kernels.

Pull tracing updates from Steven Rostedt:

 - Restructure of lockdep and latency tracers

   This is the biggest change. Joel Fernandes restructured the hooks
   from irqs and preemption disabling and enabling. He got rid of a lot
   of the preprocessor #ifdef mess that they caused.

   He turned both lockdep and the latency tracers to use trace events
   inserted in the preempt/irqs disabling paths. But unfortunately,
   these started to cause issues in corner cases. Thus, parts of the
   code was reverted back to where lockdep and the latency tracers just
   get called directly (without using the trace events). But because the
   original change cleaned up the code very nicely we kept that, as well
   as the trace events for preempt and irqs disabling, but they are
   limited to not being called in NMIs.

 - Have trace events use SRCU for "rcu idle" calls. This was required
   for the preempt/irqs off trace events. But it also had to not allow
   them to be called in NMI context. Waiting till Paul makes an NMI safe
   SRCU API.

 - New notrace SRCU API to allow trace events to use SRCU.

 - Addition of mcount-nop option support

 - SPDX headers replacing GPL templates.

 - Various other fixes and clean ups.

 - Some fixes are marked for stable, but were not fully tested before
   the merge window opened.
