While the randstruct GCC plugin was being rebuilt if the randstruct seed
changed, Clang builds did not notice the change. This could result in
differing struct layouts in a target depending on when it was built.

Include the existing generated header file in compiler-version.h when
its associated feature name, RANDSTRUCT, is defined. This will be picked
up by fixdep and force rebuilds where needed.

preempt: Move PREEMPT_RT before PREEMPT in vermagic.

Since the dynamic preemption has been enabled for PREEMPT_RT we have now
CONFIG_PREEMPT and CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT set simultaneously. This affects
the vermagic strings which comes now PREEMPT with PREEMPT_RT enabled.

The PREEMPT_RT module usually can not be loaded on a PREEMPT kernel
because some symbols are missing.
However if the symbols are fine then it continues and it crashes later.
The problem is that the struct module has a different layout and the
num_exentries or init members are at a different position leading to a
crash later on. This is not necessary caught by the size check in
elf_validity_cache_index_mod() because the mem member has an alignment
requirement of __module_memory_align which is big enough keep the total
size unchanged. Therefore we should keep the string accurate instead of
removing it.

Move the PREEMPT_RT check before the PREEMPT so that it takes precedence
if both symbols are enabled.

To enable Clang randstruct support, move the structure layout
randomization seed generation out of scripts/gcc-plugins/ into
scripts/basic/ so it happens early enough that it can be used by either
compiler implementation. The gcc-plugin still builds its own header file,
but now does so from the common "randstruct.seed" file.

move the attribute macros, and generalize the feature to be named
CONFIG_RANDSTRUCT for on/off, CONFIG_RANDSTRUCT_FULL for the full

Commit c597bfddc9e9 ("sched: Provide Kconfig support for default dynamic
preempt mode") changed the selectable config names for the preemption
model. This means a config file must now select

  CONFIG_PREEMPT_BEHAVIOUR=y

rather than

  CONFIG_PREEMPT=y

to get a preemptible kernel. This means all arch config files would need to
be updated - right now they'll all end up with the default
CONFIG_PREEMPT_NONE_BEHAVIOUR.

Rather than touch a good hundred of config files, restore usage of
CONFIG_PREEMPT{_NONE, _VOLUNTARY}. Make them configure:
o The build-time preemption model when !PREEMPT_DYNAMIC
o The default boot-time preemption model when PREEMPT_DYNAMIC

Add siblings of those configs with the _BUILD suffix to unconditionally
designate the build-time preemption model (PREEMPT_DYNAMIC is built with
the "highest" preemption model it supports, aka PREEMPT). Downstream
configs should by now all be depending / selected by CONFIG_PREEMPTION
rather than CONFIG_PREEMPT, so only a few sites need patching up.

arch: split MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC definitions out to <asm/vermagic.h>

As the bug report [1] pointed out, <linux/vermagic.h> must be included
after <linux/module.h>.

I believe we should not impose any include order restriction. We often
sort include directives alphabetically, but it is just coding style
convention. Technically, we can include header files in any order by
making every header self-contained.

Currently, arch-specific MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC is defined in
<asm/module.h>, which is not included from <linux/vermagic.h>.

Hence, the straight-forward fix-up would be as follows:

|--- a/include/linux/vermagic.h
|+++ b/include/linux/vermagic.h
|@@ -1,5 +1,6 @@
| /* SPDX-License-Identifier: GPL-2.0 */
| #include <generated/utsrelease.h>
|+#include <linux/module.h>
|
| /* Simply sanity version stamp for modules. */
| #ifdef CONFIG_SMP

This works enough, but for further cleanups, I split MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC
definitions into <asm/vermagic.h>.

With this, <linux/module.h> and <linux/vermagic.h> will be orthogonal,
and the location of MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC definitions will be consistent.

For arc and ia64, MODULE_PROC_FAMILY is only used for defining
MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC. I squashed it.

For hexagon, nds32, and xtensa, I removed <asm/modules.h> entirely
because they contained nothing but MODULE_ARCH_VERMAGIC definition.
Kbuild will automatically generate <asm/modules.h> at build-time,
wrapping <asm-generic/module.h>.

VERMAGIC* definitions are not supposed to be used by the drivers,
see this [1] bug report, so introduce special define to guard inclusion
of this header file and define it in kernel/modules.h and in internal
script that generates *.mod.c files.

In-tree module build:
➜ kernel git:(vermagic) ✗ make clean
➜ kernel git:(vermagic) ✗ make M=drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5
➜ kernel git:(vermagic) ✗ modinfo drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.ko
filename:	/images/leonro/src/kernel/drivers/infiniband/hw/mlx5/mlx5_ib.ko
<...>
vermagic: 5.6.0+ SMP mod_unload modversions

Out-of-tree module build:
➜ mlx5 make -C /images/leonro/src/kernel clean M=/tmp/mlx5
➜ mlx5 make -C /images/leonro/src/kernel M=/tmp/mlx5
➜ mlx5 modinfo /tmp/mlx5/mlx5_ib.ko

Update the build scripts and the version magic to reflect when
CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT is enabled in the same way as CONFIG_PREEMPT is treated.

The resulting version strings:

  Linux m 5.3.0-rc1+ #100 SMP Fri Jul 26 ...
  Linux m 5.3.0-rc1+ #101 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 26 ...
  Linux m 5.3.0-rc1+ #102 SMP PREEMPT_RT Fri Jul 26 ...

The module vermagic:

  5.3.0-rc1+ SMP mod_unload modversions
  5.3.0-rc1+ SMP preempt mod_unload modversions
  5.3.0-rc1+ SMP preempt_rt mod_unload modversions

This reverts commit 6cfb521ac0d5b97470883ff9b7facae264b7ab12.

Turns out distros do not want to make retpoline as part of their "ABI",
so this patch should not have been merged. Sorry Andi, this was my
fault, I suggested it when your original patch was the "correct" way of
doing this instead.
