Blamed commits forgot that vxlan/geneve use udp_tunnel[6]_xmit_skb() which
call iptunnel_xmit_stats().

iptunnel_xmit_stats() was assuming tunnels were only using
NETDEV_PCPU_STAT_TSTATS.

@syncp offset in pcpu_sw_netstats and pcpu_dstats is different.

32bit kernels would either have corruptions or freezes if the syncp
sequence was overwritten.

This patch also moves pcpu_stat_type closer to dev-&gt;{t,d}stats to avoid
a potential cache line miss since iptunnel_xmit_stats() needs to read it.

<title>net: harmonize tstats and dstats</title>

After the blamed commits below, some UDP tunnel use dstats for
accounting. On the xmit path, all the UDP-base tunnels ends up
using iptunnel_xmit_stats() for stats accounting, and the latter
assumes the relevant (tunnel) network device uses tstats.

The end result is some 'funny' stat report for the mentioned UDP
tunnel, e.g. when no packet is actually dropped and a bunch of
packets are transmitted:

Address the issue ensuring the same binary layout for the overlapping
fields of dstats and tstats. While this solution is a bit hackish, is
smaller and with no performance pitfall compared to other alternatives
i.e. supporting both dstat and tstat in iptunnel_xmit_stats() or
reverting the blamed commit.

With time we should possibly move all the IP-based tunnel (and virtual
devices) to dstats.

Currently vrf is the only module that uses NETDEV_PCPU_STAT_DSTATS.
In order to make this kind of statistics available to other modules,
we need to define the update functions in netdevice.h.

Therefore, let's define dev_dstats_*() functions for RX and TX packet
updates (packets, bytes and drops). Use these new functions in vrf.c
instead of vrf_rx_stats() and the other manual counter updates.

While there, update the type of the "len" variables to "unsigned int",
so that there're aligned with both skb-&gt;len and the new dstats update
functions.

dev_validate_header() reads dev-&gt;hard_header_len directly when
zero-padding short link layer headers for CAP_SYS_RAWIO holders:

    if (capable(CAP_SYS_RAWIO)) {
        memset(ll_header + len, 0, dev-&gt;hard_header_len - len);
        return true;
    }

Packet send paths call dev_validate_header() on skbs whose headroom was
allocated from an earlier hard_header_len read. If the device is
reconfigured so that dev-&gt;hard_header_len increases before validation,
the memset writes past the reserved buffer, an out-of-bounds write.

This out-of-bounds write is masked in some SOCK_RAW paths today because
the same concurrent increase can first make skb_push() exceed the
reserved headroom and trigger skb_under_panic(). Remove the zero-padding
branch before making those hard_header_len reads consistent, so the
snapshot fixes do not turn a loud panic into a silent overwrite.

This path is only reached for variable length L2 protocols, where
len &lt; hard_header_len but len &gt;= min_header_len. No remaining in-tree
variable length L2 protocol implements header_ops-&gt;validate, and the
CAP_SYS_RAWIO bypass that zero-pads and accepts short headers has no
real value beyond allowing testing of intentionally malformed input.

Drop the CAP_SYS_RAWIO branch. The remaining reads of
dev-&gt;hard_header_len in dev_validate_header() are comparisons only and
have no memory safety impact.

packet_snd() reads dev-&gt;hard_header_len multiple times while allocating
and constructing an skb. Device reconfiguration can change this value
concurrently, for example through bonding device type changes.

For SOCK_RAW, packet_snd() can save a larger value in reserve and later
allocate headroom using a smaller value. Moving skb-&gt;data back by reserve
then places it before skb-&gt;head, and the following copy from userspace can
attempt an out-of-bounds write.

packet_sendmsg_spkt() has the same issue because it calculates its
reservation and header offset from separate reads before dropping the RCU
read lock to allocate the skb.

Add LL_RESERVED_SPACE_EX() for callers that already saved a header length.
Read hard_header_len once in packet_snd() and use it for allocation and
construction. In packet_sendmsg_spkt(), preserve the allocation-time value
through the device lookup retry.

The separate SOCK_DGRAM consistency problem between hard_header_len and
header_ops-&gt;create is not addressed here.

Some/most devices implementing gso_partial need to disable the GSO partial
features when the IP ID can't be mangled; to that extend each of them
implements something alike the following[1]:

	if (skb-&gt;encapsulation &amp;&amp; !(features &amp; NETIF_F_TSO_MANGLEID))
		features &amp;= ~NETIF_F_TSO;

in the ndo_features_check() op, which leads to a bit of duplicate code.

Later patch in the series will implement GSO partial support for virtual
devices, and the current status quo will require more duplicate code and
a new indirect call in the TX path for them.

Introduce the mangleid_features mask, allowing the core to disable NIC
features based on/requiring MANGLEID, without any further intervention
from the driver.

The same functionality could be alternatively implemented adding a single
boolean flag to the struct net_device, but would require an additional
checks in ndo_features_check().

Also note that [1] is incorrect if the NIC additionally implements
NETIF_F_GSO_UDP_L4, mangleid_features transparently handle even such a
case.

bond_header_parse() can loop if a stack of two bonding devices is setup,
because skb-&gt;dev always points to the hierarchy top.

Add new "const struct net_device *dev" parameter to
(struct header_ops)-&gt;parse() method to make sure the recursion
is bounded, and that the final leaf parse method is called.

Tunnel xmit functions (iptunnel_xmit, ip6tunnel_xmit) lack their own
recursion limit. When a bond device in broadcast mode has GRE tap
interfaces as slaves, and those GRE tunnels route back through the
bond, multicast/broadcast traffic triggers infinite recursion between
bond_xmit_broadcast() and ip_tunnel_xmit()/ip6_tnl_xmit(), causing
kernel stack overflow.

The existing XMIT_RECURSION_LIMIT (8) in the no-qdisc path is not
sufficient because tunnel recursion involves route lookups and full IP
output, consuming much more stack per level. Use a lower limit of 4
(IP_TUNNEL_RECURSION_LIMIT) to prevent overflow.

Add recursion detection using dev_xmit_recursion helpers directly in
iptunnel_xmit() and ip6tunnel_xmit() to cover all IPv4/IPv6 tunnel
paths including UDP encapsulated tunnels (VXLAN, Geneve, etc.).

Move dev_xmit_recursion helpers from net/core/dev.h to public header
include/linux/netdevice.h so they can be used by tunnel code.

To make the system page pool usable as a source for allocating XDP
frames, we need to register it with xdp_reg_mem_model(), so that page
return works correctly. This is done in preparation for using the system
page_pool to convert XDP_PASS XSk frames to skbs; for the same reason,
make the per-cpu variable non-static so we can access it from other
source files as well (but w/o exporting).

Some high level software drivers need to compute features from lower
devices. But each has their own implementations and may lost some
feature compute. Let's use one common function to compute features
for kinds of these devices.

The new helper uses the current bond implementation as the reference
one, as the latter already handles all the relevant aspects: netdev
features, TSO limits and dst retention.
