Fix ext2_dio_write_iter() to propagate the error returned by
generic_write_sync() instead of silently discarding it, which could
cause write(2) to return success to userspace on O_SYNC/O_DSYNC files
even when the sync failed.

The correct pattern, already used in ext2_dax_write_iter() in the same
file and in ext4, xfs, f2fs among others, is:
    if (ret &gt; 0)
        ret = generic_write_sync(iocb, ret);

Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

DAX support in ext2 was deprecated in commit d5a2693f93e4 ("ext2:
Deprecate DAX") with a removal deadline of end of 2025.  Remove all DAX
code from ext2 as scheduled.

This removes the DAX mount option, IOMAP DAX support, DAX file
operations, DAX address_space_operations, and the DAX fault handler.

Add the setlease file_operation to ext2_file_operations and
ext2_dir_operations, pointing to generic_setlease.  A future patch will
change the default behavior to reject lease attempts with -EINVAL when
there is no setlease file operation defined. Add generic_setlease to
retain the ability to set leases on this filesystem.

Update nearly all generic_file_mmap() and generic_file_readonly_mmap()
callers to use generic_file_mmap_prepare() and
generic_file_readonly_mmap_prepare() respectively.

We update blkdev, 9p, afs, erofs, ext2, nfs, ntfs3, smb, ubifs and vboxsf
file systems this way.

Remaining users we cannot yet update are ecryptfs, fuse and cramfs. The
former two are nested file systems that must support any underlying file
ssytem, and cramfs inserts a mixed mapping which currently requires a VMA.

Once all file systems have been converted to mmap_prepare(), we can then
update nested file systems.

Since commit a2ad63daa88b ("VFS: add FMODE_CAN_ODIRECT file flag") file
systems can just set the FMODE_CAN_ODIRECT flag at open time instead of
wiring up a dummy direct_IO method to indicate support for direct I/O.

Commit "filemap: update ki_pos in generic_perform_write", made updating
of ki_pos into common code in generic_perform_write() function.
This also causes generic/091 to fail.
This happened due to an in-flight collision with:
fb5de4358e1a ("ext2: Move direct-io to use iomap"). I have chosen fixes tag
based on which commit got landed later to upstream kernel.

Remove the unnecessary encoding of page order into an enum and pass the
page order directly.  That lets us get rid of pe_order().

The switch constructs have to be changed to if/else constructs to prevent
GCC from warning on builds with 3-level page tables where PMD_ORDER and
PUD_ORDER have the same value.

If you are looking at this commit because your driver stopped compiling,
look at the previous commit as well and audit your driver to be sure it
doesn't depend on mmap_lock being held in its -&gt;huge_fault method.
