[BUG]
There is a bug report that btrfs/242 can randomly fail with the
following NULL pointer dereference:

Also the reporter is very kind to test the following ASSERT() added to
btrfs_trim_free_extents_throttle():

	ASSERT(device-&gt;bdev,
	       "devid=%llu path=%s dev_state=0x%lx\n",
	       device-&gt;devid, btrfs_dev_name(device), device-&gt;dev_state);

And it shows the following output:

  assertion failed: device-&gt;bdev, in extent-tree.c:6630 (devid=2 path=/dev/sdd dev_state=0x82)

Which means the device-&gt;bdev is NULL, and the dev_state is
BTRFS_DEV_STATE_IN_FS_METADATA | BTRFS_DEV_STATE_ITEM_FOUND, without
BTRFS_DEV_STATE_WRITEABLE flag set.

[CAUSE]
The pc points to the following call chain:

  btrfs_trim_fs()
  |- btrfs_trim_free_extents()
     |- btrfs_trim_free_extents_throttle()
        |- bdev_max_discard_sectors(device-&gt;bdev)

So the NULL pointer dereference is caused by device-&gt;bdev being NULL.

This looks impossible by a quick glance, as just before calling
btrfs_trim_free_extents_throttle(), we have skipped any device that has
BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING flag set.

However in this particular case, there is a window where the missing
device is later re-scanned, causing btrfs to remove the
BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING flag:

  btrfs_control_ioctl()
  |- btrfs_scan_one_device()
     |- device_list_add()
        |- rcu_assign_pointer(device-&gt;name, name);
        |  This updates the missing device's path to the new good path.
        |
        |- clear_bit(BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING, &amp;device-&gt;dev_state)
           This removes the BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING flag.

This allows the missing device to re-appear and clear the
BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING flag.  However the device still does not have
the BTRFS_DEV_STATE_WRITEABLE flag set, nor is its bdev pointer updated.

The bdev pointer remains NULL, triggering the crash later.

[FIX]
This is a big de-synchronization between BTRFS_DEV_STATE_MISSING and
device-&gt;bdev pointer, and shows a gap in btrfs's re-appearing-device
handling.

The proper handling of re-appearing device will need quite some extra
work, which is out of the context of this small fix.

Thankfully the regular bbio submission path has already handled it well
by checking if the device-&gt;bdev is NULL before submitting.

So here we just fix the crash by checking if the device is writeable and
has a bdev pointer before calling bdev_max_discard_sectors().

[CAUSE]
Inside btrfs we have the following pattern in several locations, for
example inside btrfs_dirty_folio():

	btrfs_clear_extent_bit(&amp;inode-&gt;io_tree, start_pos, end_of_last_block,
			       EXTENT_DELALLOC | EXTENT_DO_ACCOUNTING | EXTENT_DEFRAG,
			       cached);

	ret = btrfs_set_extent_delalloc(inode, start_pos, end_of_last_block,
					extra_bits, cached);
	if (ret)
		return ret;

However btrfs_set_extent_delalloc() can return IO errors other than -ENOMEM
through the following callchain:

 btrfs_set_extent_delalloc()
 \- btrfs_find_new_delalloc_bytes()
    \- btrfs_get_extent()
       \- btrfs_lookup_file_extent()
          \- btrfs_search_slot()

When such IO error happened, the previous btrfs_clear_extent_bit() has
cleared the EXTENT_DELALLOC for the range, and we're expecting
btrfs_set_extent_delalloc() to re-set EXTENT_DELALLOC.

But since btrfs_set_extent_delalloc() failed before
btrfs_set_extent_bit(), EXTENT_DELALLOC flag is no longer present.

And if the folio range is dirty before entering
btrfs_set_extent_delalloc(), we got a dirty folio but no EXTENT_DELALLOC
flag now.

Then we hit the folio writeback:

  extent_writepage()
  |- writepage_delalloc()
  |  No ordered extent is created, as there is no EXTENT_DELALLOC set
  |  for the folio range.
  |  This also means the folio has no ordered flag set.
  |
  |- extent_writepage_io()
     \- if (unlikely(!folio_test_ordered(folio))
        Now we hit the warning.

[FIX]
Introduce a new helper, btrfs_reset_extent_delalloc() to replace the
currently open-coded btrfs_clear_extent_bit() +
btrfs_set_extent_delalloc() combination.

Instead of calling btrfs_clear_extent_bit() first, update
EXTENT_DELALLOC_NEW first, as that part can fail due to metadata IO,
meanwhile btrfs_clear_extent_bit() and btrfs_set_extent_bit() won't
return any error but retry memory allocation until succeeded.

This allows us to fail early without clearing EXTENT_DELALLOC bit, so
even if that new btrfs_reset_extent_delalloc() failed before touching
EXTENT_DELALLOC, the existing dirty range will still have their old
EXTENT_DELALLOC flag present, thus avoid the warning.

<title>btrfs: fix squota accounting during enable generation</title>

The first transaction that enables squotas is special and a bit tricky.
We have to set BTRFS_FS_QUOTA_ENABLED after the transaction to avoid a
deadlock, so any delayed refs that run before we set the bit are not
squota accounted. For data this is fine, we don't get an owner_ref, so
there is no real harm, it's as if the extent predated squotas. However
for metadata, the tree block will have gen == enable_gen so when we free
it later, we will decrement the squota accounting, which can result in
an underflow. Before it is freed, btrfs check shows errors, as we have
mismatched usage between the node generations/owners and the squota
values.

There are two angles to this fix:

1. For extents that come in delayed_refs that run during the
   enable_gen transaction, we must actually set enable_gen to the *next*
   transaction. That is the first transaction that we can really
   properly account in any way.
2. For extents that come in between the end of our transaction handle
   and the time we set the BTRFS_FS_QUOTA_ENABLED bit, we need an
   additional bit, BTRFS_FS_SQUOTA_ENABLING which only affects recording
   squota deltas, so we do pick up those extents. Otherwise, we would
   miss them, even for enable_gen + 1.

The invariant that we want to maintain with subvolume qgroups is that
the qgroup can only be deleted if there is no root. With squotas, we
thought that it was sufficient to just check the usage, because we
assumed that deleting a subvolume will drive it's qgroups usage to 0,
and thus 0 usage implies no subvolume.

However, this is false, for two reasons:

- A subvol whose extents are all from before squotas was enabled.
- A subvol that was created in this transaction and for which we have
  not yet run any delayed refs.

In both cases, deleting the qgroup breaks the desired invariant and we
are left with a subvolume with no qgroup but squotas are enabled.

Fix this by unifying the deletion check logic between full qgroups and
squotas. Squotas do all the same checks *and* the additional usage == 0
check, which is the one extra rule peculiar to squotas.

Currently, with squotas, we do not allow removing a parent qgroup with
no members if it still has usage accounted to it. This makes it really
difficult to recover from accounting bugs, as we have no good way of
getting back to 0 usage.

Instead, allow deletion (it's safe at 0 members..) while still warning
about the inconsistency by adding a squota parent check.

We could have detected the quick inherit bug more directly if we had
an extra warning about squota hierarchy consistency while modifying the
hierarchy. In squotas, the parent usage always simply adds up to the sum of
its children, so we can just check for that when changing membership and
detect more accounting bugs.

Do the remaining btrfs_path conversion to the auto cleaning, this seems
to be the last one. Most of the conversions are trivial, only adding the
declaration and removing the freeing, or changing the goto patterns to
return.

There are some functions with many changes, like __btrfs_free_extent(),
btrfs_remove_from_free_space_tree() or btrfs_add_to_free_space_tree()
but it still follows the same pattern.

We don't need to search back to the inode item, the directory inode
number is in key.offset, so simply use that.  If we can't find the
directory we'll get an ENOENT at the iget().

There's a lot of places where we need to print a key, and it's tiresome
to type the format specifier, typically "(%llu %u %llu)", as well as
passing 3 arguments to a prink family function (key-&gt;objectid, key-&gt;type,

So add a couple macros for this just like we have for csum values in
btrfs_inode.h (CSUM_FMT and CSUM_FMT_VALUE).

This also ensures that we consistently print a key in the same format,
always as "(%llu %llu %llu)", which is the most common format we use, but
we have a few variations such as "[%llu %llu %llu]" for no good reason.

This patch introduces the macros while the next one makes use of it.
This is to ease backports of future patches, since then we can backport
this patch which is simple and short and then backport those future
patches, as the next patch in the series that makes use of these new
macros is quite large and may have some dependencies.
