commit 6ad959b6703e2c4c5d7af03b4cfd5ff608036339 upstream. The commit 04e5eac8f3ab("fbdev: savage: Error out if pixclock equals zero") checks the value of pixclock to avoid divide-by-zero error. However the function savagefb_probe doesn't handle the error return of savagefb_check_var. When pixclock is 0, it will cause divide-by-zero error. [ Upstream commit 04e5eac8f3ab2ff52fa191c187a46d4fdbc1e288 ] The userspace program could pass any values to the driver through ioctl() interface. If the driver doesn't check the value of pixclock, it may cause divide-by-zero error. Although pixclock is checked in savagefb_decode_var(), but it is not checked properly in savagefb_probe(). Fix this by checking whether pixclock is zero in the function savagefb_check_var() before info->var.pixclock is used as the divisor. The flag FBINFO_DEFAULT is 0 and has no effect, as struct fbinfo.flags has been allocated to zero by framebuffer_alloc(). So do not set it. Flags should signal differences from the default values. fbdev: Add support for the nomodeset kernel parameter

Support the kernel's nomodeset parameter for all PCI-based fbdev drivers that use aperture helpers to remove other, hardware-agnostic graphics drivers. The parameter is a simple way of using the firmware-provided scanout buffer if the hardware's native driver is broken. The same effect could be achieved with per-driver options, but the importance of the graphics output for many users makes a single, unified approach worthwhile. With nomodeset specified, the fbdev driver module will not load. This unifies behavior with similar DRM drivers. In DRM helpers, modules first check the nomodeset parameter before registering the PCI driver. As fbdev has no such module helpers, we have to modify each driver individually. The name 'nomodeset' is slightly misleading, but has been chosen for historical reasons. Several drivers implemented it before it became a general option for DRM. Remove firmware devices on the PCI bus, by calling aperture_remove_conflicting_pci_devices() in the probe function of each related fbdev driver. iSo far, most of these drivers did not remove conflicting VESA or EFI devices, or outride failed for resource conflicts (i.e., matroxfb.) This must have been broken for quite some time. Drivers should do only device-specific jobs. But in general, drivers using legacy PCI PM framework for .suspend()/.resume() have to manage many PCI PM-related tasks themselves which can be done by PCI Core itself. This brings extra load on the driver and it directly calls PCI helper functions to handle them. Switch to the new generic framework by updating function signatures and define a "struct dev_pm_ops" variable to bind PM callbacks. Also, remove unnecessary calls to the PCI Helper functions along with the legacy .suspend & .resume bindings. Now, - savagefb_suspend() had a "pm_message_t" type parameter as per legacy PCI PM framework that got deprecated in generic. - Rename the callback as savagefb_suspend_late() and preserve the parameter. - Define 3 new callbacks as: * savagefb_suspend() * savagefb_freeze() * savagefb_hibernate() which in turn call savagefb_suspend_late() by passing appropriate value for "pm_message_t" type parameter. - Bind the callbacks in "struct dev_pm_ops" type variable "savagefb_pm_ops". savagefb_probe() calls savage_init_fb_info() that can successfully allocate memory for info->pixmap.addr but then fail when fb_alloc_cmap() fails. savagefb_probe() goes to label failed_init and does not free allocated memory. It is not valid to go to label failed_mmio since savage_init_fb_info() can fail during memory allocation as well. So, the patch free allocated memory on the error handling path in savage_init_fb_info() itself. Found by Linux Driver Verification project (linuxtesting.org). Patch series "mm: consolidate definitions of page table accessors", v2. The low level page table accessors (pXY_index(), pXY_offset()) are duplicated across all architectures and sometimes more than once. For instance, we have 31 definition of pgd_offset() for 25 supported architectures. Most of these definitions are actually identical and typically it boils down to, e.g. static inline unsigned long pmd_index(unsigned long address) { return (address >> PMD_SHIFT) & (PTRS_PER_PMD - 1); } static inline pmd_t *pmd_offset(pud_t *pud, unsigned long address) { return (pmd_t *)pud_page_vaddr(*pud) + pmd_index(address); } These definitions can be shared among 90% of the arches provided XYZ_SHIFT, PTRS_PER_XYZ and xyz_page_vaddr() are defined. For architectures that really need a custom version there is always possibility to override the generic version with the usual ifdefs magic. These patches introduce include/linux/pgtable.h that replaces include/asm-generic/pgtable.h and add the definitions of the page table accessors to the new header. This patch (of 12): The linux/mm.h header includes to allow inlining of the functions involving page table manipulations, e.g. pte_alloc() and pmd_alloc(). So, there is no point to explicitly include in the files that include .
