commit 05f6e183879d9785a3cdf2f08a498bc31b7a20aa upstream.

If fb_add_videomode() in fb_set_var() fails to allocate memory for
fb_videomode, later it may lead to a null-ptr dereference in
fb_videomode_to_var(), as the fb_info is registered while not having the
mode in modelist that is expected to be there, i.e. the one that is
described in fb_info->var.

The reason is that fb_info->var is being modified in fb_set_var(), and
then fb_videomode_to_var() is called. If it fails to add the mode to
fb_info->modelist, fb_set_var() returns error, but does not restore the
old value of fb_info->var. Restore fb_info->var on failure the same way
it is done earlier in the function.

commit 6fd33a3333c7916689b8f051a185defe4dd515b0 upstream.

This is an oversight from dc5bdb68b5b3 ("drm/fb-helper: Fix vt
restore") - I failed to realize that nasty userspace could set this.

It's not pretty to mix up kernel-internal and userspace uapi flags
like this, but since the entire fb_var_screeninfo structure is uapi
we'd need to either add a new parameter to the ->fb_set_par callback
and fb_set_par() function, which has a _lot_ of users. Or some other
fairly ugly side-channel int fb_info. Neither is a pretty prospect.

Instead just correct the issue at hand by filtering out this
kernel-internal flag in the ioctl handling code.

commit e64242caef18b4a5840b0e7a9bff37abd4f4f933 upstream.

We need to prevent that users configure a screen size which is smaller than the
currently selected font size. Otherwise rendering chars on the screen will
access memory outside the graphics memory region.

This patch adds a new function fbcon_modechange_possible() which
implements this check and which later may be extended with other checks
if necessary. The new function is called from the FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO
ioctl handler in fbmem.c, which will return -EINVAL if userspace asked
for a too small screen size.

commit 8c28051cdcbe9dfcec6bd0a4709d67a09df6edae upstream.

syzbot is reporting page fault at vga16fb_fillrect() [1], for
vga16fb_check_var() is failing to detect multiplication overflow.

  if (vxres * vyres > maxmem) {
    vyres = maxmem / vxres;
    if (vyres < yres)
      return -ENOMEM;
  }

Since no module would accept too huge resolutions where multiplication
overflow happens, let's reject in the common path.

commit 0af778269a522c988ef0b4188556aba97fb420cc upstream.

The execution of fb_delete_videomode() is not based on the result of the
previous fbcon_mode_deleted(). As a result, the mode is directly deleted,
regardless of whether it is still in use, which may cause UAF.

A fb_ioctl() FBIOPUT_VSCREENINFO call with invalid xres setting
or yres setting in struct fb_var_screeninfo will result in a
KASAN: vmalloc-out-of-bounds failure in bitfill_aligned() as
the margins are being cleared. The margins are cleared in
chunks and if the xres setting or yres setting is a value of
zero upto the chunk size, the failure will occur.

syzbot is reporting OOB read bug in vc_do_resize() [1] caused by memcpy()
based on outdated old_{rows,row_size} values, for resize_screen() can
recurse into vc_do_resize() which changes vc->vc_{cols,rows} that outdates
old_{rows,row_size} values which were saved before calling resize_screen().

Daniel Vetter explained that resize_screen() should not recurse into
fbcon_update_vcs() path due to FBINFO_MISC_USEREVENT being still set
when calling resize_screen().

Instead of masking FBINFO_MISC_USEREVENT before calling fbcon_update_vcs(),
we can remove FBINFO_MISC_USEREVENT by calling fbcon_update_vcs() only if
fb_set_var() returned 0. This change assumes that it is harmless to call
fbcon_update_vcs() when fb_set_var() returned 0 without reaching
fb_notifier_call_chain().
