This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

The pointer data is being assigned a value that is not being read afterwards, it is being re-assigned later inside a do-while loop. The assignment is redundant and can be removed. USB: serial: return errors from break handling

Forward declarations make the code larger, harder to follow and rewrite. Harder as the declarations are often omitted from global changes. Remove forward declarations which are not really needed, i.e. when the definition of the function is before its first use. All usb_serial drivers return 0 in their remove callbacks and driver core ignores the value returned by usb_serial_device_remove(). So change the remove callback to return void and return 0 unconditionally in usb_serial_device_remove().
