In target_alloc_device(), if allocing memory for dev queues fails, then
dev will be freed by dev-&gt;transport-&gt;free_device(), but dev-&gt;transport
is not initialized at that time, which will lead to a null pointer
reference problem.

Fixing this bug by freeing dev with hba-&gt;backend-&gt;ops-&gt;free_device().

While running net selftests with CONFIG_PROVE_RCU_LIST=y I saw
one lockdep splat [1].

genlmsg_mcast() uses for_each_net_rcu(), and must therefore hold RCU.

Instead of letting all callers guard genlmsg_multicast_allns()
with a rcu_read_lock()/rcu_read_unlock() pair, do it in genlmsg_mcast().

This also means the @flags parameter is useless, we need to always use
GFP_ATOMIC.

If the systemd-modules service loads the target module, the credentials of
that userspace process will be used to validate the access to the target db
directory.  SELinux will prevent it, reporting an error like the following:

As of commit 066ff571011d ("block: turn bio_kmalloc into a simple kmalloc
wrapper"), a bio allocated by bio_kmalloc() must be freed by bio_uninit()
and kfree(). That is not done properly for the error case, hitting WARN and
NULL pointer dereference in bio_free().

An abort that is responded to by iSCSI itself is added to tmr_list but does
not go to target core. A LUN_RESET that goes through tmr_list takes a
refcounter on the abort and waits for completion. However, the abort will
be never complete because it was not started in target core.

The callers of vfs_iter_write() are required to hold file_start_write().
file_start_write() is a no-op for the S_ISBLK() case, but it is really
needed when the backing file is a regular file.

We are going to move file_{start,end}_write() into vfs_iter_write(), but
we need to fix this first, so that the fix could be backported to stable
kernels.

The function lio_target_nacl_info_show() uses sprintf() in a loop to print
details for every iSCSI connection in a session without checking for the
buffer length. With enough iSCSI connections it's possible to overflow the
buffer provided by configfs and corrupt the memory.

This patch replaces sprintf() with sysfs_emit_at() that checks for buffer
boundries.

The tpg-&gt;np_login_sem is a semaphore that is used to serialize the login
process when multiple login threads run concurrently against the same
target portal group.

The iscsi_target_locate_portal() function finds the tpg, calls
iscsit_access_np() against the np_login_sem semaphore and saves the tpg
pointer in conn-&gt;tpg;

If iscsi_target_locate_portal() fails, the caller will check for the
conn-&gt;tpg pointer and, if it's not NULL, then it will assume that
iscsi_target_locate_portal() called iscsit_access_np() on the semaphore.

Make sure that conn-&gt;tpg gets initialized only if iscsit_access_np() was
successful, otherwise iscsit_deaccess_np() may end up being called against
a semaphore we never took, allowing more than one thread to access the same
tpg.
