This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

scsi: fcoe: Add WQ_PERCPU to alloc_workqueue() users

Currently if a user enqueues a work item using schedule_delayed_work() the used wq is "system_wq" (per-cpu wq) while queue_delayed_work() uses WORK_CPU_UNBOUND (used when a CPU is not specified). The same applies to schedule_work() that is using system_wq and queue_work(), that makes use again of WORK_CPU_UNBOUND. This lack of consistentcy cannot be addressed without refactoring the API. alloc_workqueue() treats all queues as per-CPU by default, while unbound workqueues must opt-in via WQ_UNBOUND. This default is suboptimal: most workloads benefit from unbound queues, allowing the scheduler to place worker threads where they’re needed and reducing noise when CPUs are isolated. Continue the effort to refactor workqueue APIs, which has begun with the change introducing new workqueues and a new alloc_workqueue flag: commit 128ea9f6ccfb ("workqueue: Add system_percpu_wq and system_dfl_wq") commit 930c2ea566af ("workqueue: Add new WQ_PERCPU flag") Adds a new WQ_PERCPU flag to explicitly request alloc_workqueue() to be per-CPU when WQ_UNBOUND has not been specified. With the introduction of the WQ_PERCPU flag (equivalent to !WQ_UNBOUND), any alloc_workqueue() caller that doesn’t explicitly specify WQ_UNBOUND must now use WQ_PERCPU. Once migration is complete, WQ_UNBOUND can be removed and unbound will become the implicit default. scsi: fcoe: Remove fcoe_select_cpu()

The function fcoe_select_cpu() is just used to distribute incoming skbs which start a new FC command sequence. But the network stack already received (and processed) that skb, and there is a _really_ good chance that all subsequent skbs for this sequence will be handled with the same CPU. So we should just use the CPU on which this skb was allocated on and save ourselves some overhead due to pointless scheduling. scsi: Rename .slave_alloc() and .slave_destroy()

Rename .slave_alloc() into .sdev_init() and .slave_destroy() into .sdev_destroy(). The new names make it clear that these are actions on SCSI devices. Make this change in the SCSI core, SCSI drivers and also in the ATA drivers. No functionality has been changed. This patch has been created as follows: * Change the text "slave_alloc" into "sdev_init" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Change the text "slave_destroy" into "sdev_destroy" in all source files except those in drivers/net/ and Documentation/. * Rename lpfc_no_slave() into lpfc_no_sdev(). * Manually adjust whitespace where necessary to restore vertical alignment (dc395x driver and include/linux/libata.h).
