commit a6ecfb39ba9d7316057cea823b196b734f6b18ca upstream.

The current error handling code of hso_create_net_device is
hso_free_net_device, no matter which errors lead to. For example,
WARNING in hso_free_net_device [1].

Fix this by refactoring the error handling code of
hso_create_net_device by handling different errors by different code.

commit 4c761daf8bb9a2cbda9facf53ea85d9061f4281e upstream.

If the netdev is accessed before the urbs are initialized,
there will be NULL pointer dereferences. That is avoided by
registering it when it is fully initialized.

This case occurs e.g. if dhcpcd is running in the background
and the device is probed, either after insmod hso or
when the device appears on the usb bus.

A backtrace is the following:

commit e8f69b16ee776da88589b5271e3f46020efc8f6c upstream.

If resource allocation and registration fail for a muxed tty device
(e.g. if there are no more minor numbers) the driver should not try to
deregister the never-registered (or already-deregistered) tty.

Fix up the error handling to avoid dereferencing a NULL pointer when
attempting to remove the character device.

The direction of the pipe argument must match the request-type direction
bit or control requests may fail depending on the host-controller-driver
implementation.

Fix the tiocmset and rfkill requests which erroneously used
usb_rcvctrlpipe().

commit 2ad5692db72874f02b9ad551d26345437ea4f7f3 upstream.

Commit 8a12f8836145 ("net: hso: fix null-ptr-deref during tty device
unregistration") fixed the racy minor allocation reported by syzbot, but
introduced an unconditional NULL-pointer dereference on every disconnect
instead.

Specifically, the serial device table must no longer be accessed after
the minor has been released by hso_serial_tty_unregister().

commit 8a12f8836145ffe37e9c8733dce18c22fb668b66 upstream

Multiple ttys try to claim the same the minor number causing a double
unregistration of the same device. The first unregistration succeeds
but the next one results in a null-ptr-deref.

The get_free_serial_index() function returns an available minor number
but doesn't assign it immediately. The assignment is done by the caller
later. But before this assignment, calls to get_free_serial_index()
would return the same minor number.

Fix this by modifying get_free_serial_index to assign the minor number
immediately after one is found to be and rename it to obtain_minor()
to better reflect what it does. Similary, rename set_serial_by_index()
to release_minor() and modify it to free up the minor number of the
given hso_serial. Every obtain_minor() should have corresponding
release_minor() call.

[ Upstream commit e0484010ec05191a8edf980413fc92f28050c1cc ]

On sparc32, tcflag_t is "unsigned long", unlike on all other
architectures, where it is "unsigned int":

    drivers/net/usb/hso.c: In function ‘hso_serial_set_termios’:
include/linux/kern_levels.h:5:18: warning: format ‘%d’ expects argument of type ‘unsigned int’, but argument 4 has type ‘tcflag_t {aka long unsigned int}’ [-Wformat=]
drivers/net/usb/hso.c:1393:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘hso_dbg’
       hso_dbg(0x16, "Termios called with: cflags new[%d] - old[%d]\n",
       ^~~~~~~
include/linux/kern_levels.h:5:18: warning: format ‘%d’ expects argument of type ‘unsigned int’, but argument 5 has type ‘tcflag_t {aka long unsigned int}’ [-Wformat=]
drivers/net/usb/hso.c:1393:3: note: in expansion of macro ‘hso_dbg’
       hso_dbg(0x16, "Termios called with: cflags new[%d] - old[%d]\n",
       ^~~~~~~

As "unsigned long" is 32-bit on sparc32, fix this by casting all tcflag_t
parameters to "unsigned int".
While at it, use "%u" to format unsigned numbers.

<title>USB: hso: Fix OOB memory access in hso_probe/hso_get_config_data</title>

commit 5146f95df782b0ac61abde36567e718692725c89 upstream.

The function hso_probe reads if_num from the USB device (as an u8) and uses
it without a length check to index an array, resulting in an OOB memory read
in hso_probe or hso_get_config_data.

Add a length check for both locations and updated hso_probe to bail on
error.

This issue has been assigned CVE-2018-19985.
