This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

Many network drivers have unnecessary empty module_init and module_exit functions. Remove them (including some that just print a message). Note that if a module_init function exists, a module_exit function must also exist; otherwise, the module cannot be unloaded. 6pack: drop redundant locking and refcounting

The TTY layer already serializes line discipline operations with tty->ldisc_sem, so the extra disc_data_lock and refcnt in 6pack are unnecessary. Removing them simplifies the code and also resolves a lockdep warning reported by syzbot. The warning did not indicate a real deadlock, since the write-side lock was only taken in process context with hardirqs disabled. If the destination buffer has a fixed length, strscpy_pad() automatically determines its size using sizeof() when the argument is omitted. net: move misc netdev_lock flavors to a separate header

Move the more esoteric helpers for netdev instance lock to a dedicated header. This avoids growing netdevice.h to infinity and makes rebuilding the kernel much faster (after touching the header with the helpers). The main netdev_lock() / netdev_unlock() functions are used in static inlines in netdevice.h and will probably be used most commonly, so keep them in netdevice.h.
