timer_delete[_sync]() replaces del_timer[_sync](). Convert the whole tree
over and remove the historical wrapper inlines.

Conversion was done with coccinelle plus manual fixups where necessary.

Common pattern of handling deferred probe can be simplified with
dev_err_probe(). Less code and also it prints the error value.

After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()

03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter") convert
back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop .probe_new() from
struct i2c_driver.

.probe_new() doesn't get the i2c_device_id * parameter, so determine
that explicitly in the probe function.

Some of the #defined register values are one-bit flags. Convert them to
use the BIT(x) macro instead of 1 byte hexadecimal values. This improves
readability and clarifies the intent.
