This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook

A number of modules in the input subsystem use EXPORT_SYMBOL() and friends without explicitly including the corresponding header . While the build currently succeeds due to this header being pulled in transitively, this is not guaranteed to be the case in the future. Separating "normal" and "polled" input devices was a mistake, as often we want to allow the very same device work on both interrupt-driven and polled mode, depending on the board on which the device is used. This introduces new APIs: - input_setup_polling - input_set_poll_interval - input_set_min_poll_interval - input_set_max_poll_interval These new APIs allow switching an input device into polled mode with sysfs attributes matching drivers using input_polled_dev APIs that will be eventually removed.
