[ Upstream commit b5c23a4d291d2ac1dfdd574a68a3a68c8da3069e ]

It seems like, after the request_mem_region(), the corresponding
release_mem_region() must take the same size. This was done
in (now removed due to previous refactoring) charlcd_remove()
but not in the error path in charlcd_probe().

Commit 2545c1c948a6 ("auxdisplay: Move hwidth and bwidth to struct
hd44780_common") makes charlcd_alloc() argument-less effectively dropping
the single allocation for the struct charlcd_priv object along with
the driver specific one. Restore that behaviour here.

<title>auxdisplay: hd44780: Convert to platform remove callback returning void</title>

[ Upstream commit 9ea02f7cc39d484d16e8a14f3713fefcd33407c0 ]

The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.

To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new(), which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() will be renamed to .remove().

Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

The reference count is bumped by device_get_named_child_node()
and never dropped. Since LED APIs do not require it to be
bumped by the user, drop the reference after LED registration.

The DISPLAY_CLEAR command on the NewHaven NHD-0220DZW-AG5 display
does NOT change the DDRAM address to 00h (home position) like the
standard Hitachi HD44780 controller. As a consequence, the starting
position of the initial string LCD_INIT_TEXT is not guaranteed to be
at 0,0 depending on where the cursor was before the DISPLAY_CLEAR
command.

Extract of DISPLAY_CLEAR command from datasheets of:

    Hitachi HD44780:
        ... It then sets DDRAM address 0 into the address counter...

    NewHaven NHD-0220DZW-AG5 datasheet:
	... This instruction does not change the DDRAM Address

Move the cursor home after sending DISPLAY_CLEAR command to support
non-standard LCDs.

The flag FBINFO_FLAG_DEFAULT is 0 and has no effect, as struct
fbinfo.flags has been allocated to zero by framebuffer_alloc(). So do
not set it.

Flags should signal differences from the default values. After cleaning
up all occurrences of FBINFO_DEFAULT, the token will be removed.

After commit b8a1a4cd5a98 ("i2c: Provide a temporary .probe_new()
call-back type"), all drivers being converted to .probe_new() and then
03c835f498b5 ("i2c: Switch .probe() to not take an id parameter")
convert back to (the new) .probe() to be able to eventually drop
.probe_new() from struct i2c_driver.
