<title>ARC: migrate to the generic rule for built-in DTB</title>

Commit 654102df2ac2 ("kbuild: add generic support for built-in boot
DTBs") introduced generic support for built-in DTBs.

Select GENERIC_BUILTIN_DTB to use the generic rule.

To keep consistency across architectures, this commit also renames
CONFIG_ARC_BUILTIN_DTB_NAME to CONFIG_BUILTIN_DTB_NAME.

Now, "nsim_700" is the default value for CONFIG_BUILTIN_DTB_NAME, rather
than a fallback in case it is empty.

snps,dw-apb-gpio-port is deprecated since commit ef42a8da3cf3
("dt-bindings: gpio: dwapb: Add ngpios property support"). The
respective driver supports this since commit 7569486d79ae ("gpio: dwapb:
Add ngpios DT-property support") which is included in Linux v5.10-rc1.

This change was created using

	git grep -l snps,nr-gpios arch/arc/boot/dts | xargs perl -p -i -e 's/\bsnps,nr-gpios\b/ngpios/

.

Pull Kbuild updates from Masahiro Yamada:

 - Avoid 'constexpr', which is a keyword in C23

 - Allow 'dtbs_check' and 'dt_compatible_check' run independently of
   'dt_binding_check'

 - Fix weak references to avoid GOT entries in position-independent code
   generation

 - Convert the last use of 'optional' property in arch/sh/Kconfig

 - Remove support for the 'optional' property in Kconfig

 - Remove support for Clang's ThinLTO caching, which does not work with
   the .incbin directive

 - Change the semantics of $(src) so it always points to the source
directory, which fixes Makefile inconsistencies between upstream and
   downstream

 - Fix 'make tar-pkg' for RISC-V to produce a consistent package

 - Provide reasonable default coverage for objtool, sanitizers, and
   profilers

 - Remove redundant OBJECT_FILES_NON_STANDARD, KASAN_SANITIZE, etc.

 - Remove the last use of tristate choice in drivers/rapidio/Kconfig

 - Various cleanups and fixes in Kconfig

<title>kbuild: use $(src) instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for source directory</title>

Kbuild conventionally uses $(obj)/ for generated files, and $(src)/ for
checked-in source files. It is merely a convention without any functional
difference. In fact, $(obj) and $(src) are exactly the same, as defined
in scripts/Makefile.build:

    src := $(obj)

When the kernel is built in a separate output directory, $(src) does
not accurately reflect the source directory location. While Kbuild
resolves this discrepancy by specifying VPATH=$(srctree) to search for
source files, it does not cover all cases. For example, when adding a
header search path for local headers, -I$(srctree)/$(src) is typically
passed to the compiler.

This introduces inconsistency between upstream and downstream Makefiles
because $(src) is used instead of $(srctree)/$(src) for the latter.

To address this inconsistency, this commit changes the semantics of
$(src) so that it always points to the directory in the source tree.

Going forward, the variables used in Makefiles will have the following
meanings:

$(obj) - directory in the object tree
$(src) - directory in the source tree (changed by this commit)
$(objtree) - the top of the kernel object tree
$(srctree) - the top of the kernel source tree

Consequently, $(srctree)/$(src) in upstream Makefiles need to be replaced
with $(src).

"gmac" node stands for just an ordinary Ethernet controller,
which is by no means a provider of interrupts, i.e. it doesn't serve
as an interrupt controller, thus "#interrupt-cells" property doesn't
belong to it and so we remove it.

Fixes:

  DTC arch/arc/boot/dts/hsdk.dtb
arch/arc/boot/dts/hsdk.dts:207.23-235.5: Warning (interrupt_provider): /soc/ethernet@8000: '#interrupt-cells' found, but node is not an interrupt provider

In accordance with the Generic EHCI/OHCI bindings the corresponding node
name is suppose to comply with the Generic USB HCD DT schema, which
requires the USB nodes to have the name acceptable by the regexp:
"^usb(@.*)?" . Make sure the "generic-ehci" and "generic-ohci"-compatible
nodes are correctly named.

<title>kbuild: do not quote string values in include/config/auto.conf</title>

<id>urn:sha1:129ab0d2d9f38b9d43df35235fc66c6740d6928b</id>
<content type='text'>
The previous commit fixed up all shell scripts to not include
include/config/auto.conf.

Now that include/config/auto.conf is only included by Makefiles,
we can change it into a more Make-friendly form.

Previously, Kconfig output string values enclosed with double-quotes
(both in the .config and include/config/auto.conf):

    CONFIG_X="foo bar"

Unlike shell, Make handles double-quotes (and single-quotes as well)
verbatim. We must rip them off when used.

There are some patterns:

  [1] $(patsubst "%",%,$(CONFIG_X))
  [2] $(CONFIG_X:"%"=%)
  [3] $(subst ",,$(CONFIG_X))
  [4] $(shell echo $(CONFIG_X))

These are not only ugly, but also fragile.

[1] and [2] do not work if the value contains spaces, like
   CONFIG_X=" foo bar "

[3] does not work correctly if the value contains double-quotes like
   CONFIG_X="foo\"bar"

[4] seems to work better, but has a cost of forking a process.

Anyway, quoted strings were always PITA for our Makefiles.

This commit changes Kconfig to stop quoting in include/config/auto.conf.

These are the string type symbols referenced in Makefiles or scripts:

    ACPI_CUSTOM_DSDT_FILE
    ARC_BUILTIN_DTB_NAME
    ARC_TUNE_MCPU
    BUILTIN_DTB_SOURCE
    CC_IMPLICIT_FALLTHROUGH
    CC_VERSION_TEXT
    CFG80211_EXTRA_REGDB_KEYDIR
    EXTRA_FIRMWARE
    EXTRA_FIRMWARE_DIR
    EXTRA_TARGETS
    H8300_BUILTIN_DTB
    INITRAMFS_SOURCE
    LOCALVERSION
    MODULE_SIG_HASH
    MODULE_SIG_KEY
    NDS32_BUILTIN_DTB
    NIOS2_DTB_SOURCE
    OPENRISC_BUILTIN_DTB
    SOC_CANAAN_K210_DTB_SOURCE
    SYSTEM_BLACKLIST_HASH_LIST
    SYSTEM_REVOCATION_KEYS
    SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYS
    TARGET_CPU
    UNUSED_KSYMS_WHITELIST
    XILINX_MICROBLAZE0_FAMILY
    XILINX_MICROBLAZE0_HW_VER
    XTENSA_VARIANT_NAME

I checked them one by one, and fixed up the code where necessary.
