<title>Documentation: use a source-read extension for the index link boilerplate</title>

The root document usually has a special :ref:`genindex` link to the
generated index. This is also the case for Documentation/index.rst. The
other index.rst files deeper in the directory hierarchy usually don't.

For SPHINXDIRS builds, the root document isn't Documentation/index.rst,
but some other index.rst in the hierarchy. Currently they have a
".. only::" block to add the index link when doing SPHINXDIRS html
builds.

This is obviously very tedious and repetitive. The link is also added to
all index.rst files in the hierarchy for SPHINXDIRS builds, not just the
root document.

Put the boilerplate in a sphinx-includes/subproject-index.rst file, and
include it at the end of the root document for subproject builds in an
ad-hoc source-read extension defined in conf.py.

For now, keep having the boilerplate in translations, because this
approach currently doesn't cover translated index link headers.

Add a new line-level, boolean property to the gpio-sim configfs
interface called 'valid'. It's set by default and the user can unset it
to make the line be included in the standard `gpio-reserved-ranges`
property when the chip is registered with GPIO core. This allows users
to specify which lines should not be available for requesting as GPIOs.

<title>gpio: virtuser: new virtual testing driver for the GPIO API</title>

The GPIO subsystem used to have a serious problem with undefined behavior
and use-after-free bugs on hot-unplug of GPIO chips. This can be
considered a corner-case by some as most GPIO controllers are enabled
early in the boot process and live until the system goes down but most
GPIO drivers do allow unbind over sysfs, many are loadable modules that
can be (force) unloaded and there are also GPIO devices that can be
dynamically detached, for instance CP2112 which is a USB GPIO expender.

Bugs can be triggered both from user-space as well as by in-kernel users.
We have the means of testing it from user-space via the character device
but the issues manifest themselves differently in the kernel.

This is a proposition of adding a new virtual driver - a configurable
GPIO consumer that can be configured over configfs (similarly to
gpio-sim) or described on the device-tree.

This driver is aimed as a helper in spotting any regressions in
hot-unplug handling in GPIOLIB.

documentation into the obsolete section of the admin-guide book.
