2016-11-10ALSA: hda - Fix headset mic detection problem for two Dell laptopsHui Wang1-0/+8
commit 6aecd8715802d23dc6a0859b50c62d2b0a99de3a upstream. They uses the codec ALC255, and have the different pin cfg definition from the ones in the existing pin quirk table. Now adding them into the table to fix the problem. 2016-11-10ALSA: hda - Adding a new group of pin cfg into ALC295 pin quirk tableHui Wang1-3/+7
commit f771d5bb71d4df9573d12386400540516672208b upstream. We have a new Dell laptop model which uses ALC295, the pin definition is different from the existing ones in the pin quirk table, to fix the headset mic detection and mic mute led's problem, we need to add the new pin defintion into the pin quirk table. 2016-11-10ALSA: hda - allow 40 bit DMA mask for NVidia devicesArd Biesheuvel1-2/+5
commit 3ab7511eafdd5c4f40d2832f09554478dfbea170 upstream. Commit 49d9e77e72cf ("ALSA: hda - Fix system panic when DMA > 40 bits for Nvidia audio controllers") simply disabled any DMA exceeding 32 bits for NVidia devices, even though they are capable of performing DMA up to 40 bits. On some architectures (such as arm64), system memory is not guaranteed to be 32-bit addressable by PCI devices, and so this change prevents NVidia devices from working on platforms such as AMD Seattle. Since the original commit already mentioned that up to 40 bits of DMA is supported, and given that the code has been updated in the meantime to support a 40 bit DMA mask on other devices, revert commit 49d9e77e72cf and explicitly set the DMA mask to 40 bits for NVidia devices. 2016-11-10ALSA: hda - Raise AZX_DCAPS_RIRB_DELAY handling into top driversTakashi Iwai4-9/+10
commit 7d9a180895ee8c301df7f9447429009795c56c21 upstream. AZX_DCAPS_RIRB_DELAY is dedicated only for Nvidia and its purpose is just to set a flag in bus. So it's better to be set in the toplevel driver, either hda_intel.c or hda_tegra.c, instead of the common hda_controller.c. This also allows us to strip this flag from dcaps, so save one more bit there. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2016-11-10ALSA: hda - Merge RIRB_PRE_DELAY into CTX_WORKAROUND capsTakashi Iwai3-6/+4
commit ef85f299c74e6c5dd98ec0230183be33f4c2813d upstream. AZX_DCAPS_RIRB_PRE_DELAY is always tied with AZX_DCAPS_CTX_WORKAROUND, which is Creative's XFi specific. So, we can replace it and reduce one more bit free for DCAPS. Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@suse.de> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2016-10-28ALSA: hda - Fix a failure of micmute led when having multi adcsHui Wang2-2/+2
commit 4875a5f7218068cdeea5f998330dfa3d118b2fea upstream. On a Dell laptop, there is no global adcs for all input devices, so the input devices use the different adc, as a result, dyn_adc_switch is set to true. In this situation, it is safe to control the micmute led according to user's choice of muting/unmuting the current input device, since only current input device path is active, while other input device paths are inactive and powered down. commit db68577966abc1aeae4ec597b3dcfa0d56e92041 upstream. The pointer callbacks of ali5451 driver may return the value at the boundary occasionally, and it results in the kernel warning like snd_ali5451 0000:00:06.0: BUG: , pos = 16384, buffer size = 16384, period size = 1024 It seems that folding the position offset is enough for fixing the warning and no ill-effect has been seen by that. 2016-10-07ALSA: hda - Add the top speaker pin config for HP Spectre x360Takashi Iwai1-0/+10
commit 0eec880966e77bdbee0112989a2be67d92e39929 upstream. HP Spectre x360 with CX20724 codec has two speaker outputs while the BIOS sets up only the bottom one (NID 0x17) and disables the top one (NID 0x1d). This patch adds a fixup simply defining the proper pincfg for NID 0x1d so that the top speaker works as is. commit 3f640970a41429f0a076c01270bbd014c9eae61c upstream. One of the laptops has the codec ALC256 on it, applying the ALC255_FIXUP_DELL1_MIC_NO_PRESENCE can fix the problem, the rest of laptops have the codec ALC295 on them, they are similar to machines with ALC225, applying the ALC269_FIXUP_DELL1_MIC_NO_PRESENCE can fix the problem. 2016-09-07ALSA: hda - Manage power well properly for resumeTakashi Iwai1-12/+20
commit a52ff34e5ec61749c62c6618b76a9d6dbecee450 upstream. For SKL and later Intel chips, we control the power well per codec basis via link_power callback since the commit [03b135cebc47: ALSA: hda - remove dependency on i915 power well for SKL]. However, there are a few exceptional cases where the gfx registers are accessed from the audio driver: namely the wakeup override bit toggling at (both system and runtime) resume. This seems causing a kernel warning when accessed during the power well down (and likely resulting in the bogus register accesses). This patch puts the proper power up / down sequence around the resume code so that the wakeup bit is fiddled properly while the power is up. (The other callback, sync_audio_rate, is used only in the PCM callback, so it's guaranteed in the power-on.) Also, by this proper power up/down, the instantaneous flip of wakeup bit in the resume callback that was introduced by the commit [033ea349a7cd: ALSA: hda - Fix Skylake codec timeout] becomes superfluous, as snd_hdac_display_power() already does it. So we can clean it up together. 2016-08-20ALSA: hda - Fix headset mic detection problem for two dell machinesHui Wang1-0/+6
commit 59ec4b57bcaede46546d54d037a21004b9aa5cef upstream. One of the machines has ALC255 on it, another one has ALC298 on it. On the machine with the codec ALC298, it also has the speaker volume problem, so we add the fixup chained to ALC298_FIXUP_SPK_VOLUME rather than adding a group of pin definition in the pin quirk table, since the speak volume problem does not happen on other machines yet. commit addacd801e1638f41d659cb53b9b73fc14322cb1 upstream. The HD-audio reconfig function got broken in the recent kernels, typically resulting in a failure like: snd_hda_intel 0000:00:1b.0: control 3:0:0:Playback Channel Map:0 is already present This is because of the code restructuring to move the PCM and control instantiation into the codec drive probe, by the commit [bcd96557bd0a: ALSA: hda - Build PCMs and controls at codec driver probe]. Although the commit above removed the calls of snd_hda_codec_build_pcms() and *_build_controls() at the controller driver probe, the similar calls in the reconfig were still left forgotten. This caused the conflicting and duplicated PCMs and controls. The fix is trivial: just remove these superfluous calls from reconfig_codec(). 2016-05-05ALSA: hda - Keep powering up ADCs on Cirrus codecsTakashi Iwai1-0/+14
commit de3df8a986b635082a1d94bae2c361d043c57106 upstream. Although one weird behavior about the input path (inconsistent D0/D3 switch) on Cirrus CS420x codecs was fixed in the previous commit, there is still an issue on some Mac machines: the capture stream stalls when switching the ADCs on the fly. More badly, this keeps stuck until the next reboot. The dynamic ADC switching is already a bit fragile and assuming optimistically that the chip accepts the frequent power changes. On Cirrus codecs, this doesn't seem applicable. As a quick workaround, we pin down the ADCs to keep up in D0 when spec->dyn_adc_switch is set. In this way, the ADCs are kept up only for the system that were confirmed to be broken. 2016-05-05ALSA: hda/realtek - Add ALC3234 headset mode for Optiplex 9020mBastien Nocera1-0/+1
commit afecb146d8d8a60a1dde9cdf570c278649617fde upstream. The Optiplex 9020m with Haswell-DT processor needs a quirk for the headset jack at the front of the machine to be able to use microphones. A quirk for this model was originally added in 3127899, but c77900e removed it in favour of a more generic version. Unfortunately, pin configurations can changed based on firmware/BIOS versions, and the generic version doesn't have any effect on newer versions of the machine/firmware anymore. 2016-05-05ALSA: hda - Don't trust the reported actual power stateTakashi Iwai1-2/+4
commit 50fd4987c4f3c3ebf0ce94d932732011bbdc7c71 upstream. We've got a regression report that the recording on Mac with a cirrus codec doesn't work any longer. This turned out to be the missing power up to D0 by power_save_node enablement. After analyzing the traces, we found out that the culprit is that the codec advertises the "actual" power state of a few nodes to be D0 while the "target" power state is D3. This inconsistency is usually OK, as it implies the power transition. But in the case of cirrus codec, this seems to be stuck to D3 while it's not actually D0. This patch addresses the issue by checking the power state difference more strictly. It sends the power-state change verb unless both the target and the actual power states show the given value. We may introduce yet another flag indicating the possible broken hardware power state, but it's anyway safer to set the proper power state even in a transition (at least it's harmless as long as the target state is same). So this simpler change was applied now.
