2009-06-08isdn: rename capi_ctr_reseted() to capi_ctr_down()Tilman Schmidt1-1/+1
Change the name of the Kernel CAPI exported function capi_ctr_reseted() to something representing its purpose better. Impact: renaming, no functional change Signed-off-by: Tilman Schmidt <tilman@imap.cc> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2008-11-30Bluetooth: Enable per-module dynamic debug messagesMarcel Holtmann3-15/+0
With the introduction of CONFIG_DYNAMIC_PRINTK_DEBUG it is possible to allow debugging without having to recompile the kernel. This patch turns all BT_DBG() calls into pr_debug() to support dynamic debug messages. As a side effect all CONFIG_BT_*_DEBUG statements are now removed and some broken debug entries have been fixed. 2008-01-29[BLUETOOTH]: Use sockfd_put()Julia Lawall1-2/+2
The function sockfd_lookup uses fget on the value that is stored in the file field of the returned structure, so fput should ultimately be applied to this value. This can be done directly, but it seems better to use the specific macro sockfd_put, which does the same thing. The problem was fixed using the following semantic patch. (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @@ expression s; @@ s = sockfd_lookup(...) ... + sockfd_put(s); ?- fput(s->file); // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-11-01[NET]: Forget the zero_it argument of sk_alloc()Pavel Emelyanov1-1/+1
Finally, the zero_it argument can be completely removed from the callers and from the function prototype. Besides, fix the checkpatch.pl warnings about using the assignments inside if-s. This patch is rather big, and it is a part of the previous one. I splitted it wishing to make the patches more readable. Hope this particular split helped. 2007-10-11[NET]: Make socket creation namespace safe.Eric W. Biederman1-2/+2
This patch passes in the namespace a new socket should be created in and has the socket code do the appropriate reference counting. By virtue of this all socket create methods are touched. In addition the socket create methods are modified so that they will fail if you attempt to create a socket in a non-default network namespace. Failing if we attempt to create a socket outside of the default network namespace ensures that as we incrementally make the network stack network namespace aware we will not export functionality that someone has not audited and made certain is network namespace safe. Allowing us to partially enable network namespaces before all of the exotic protocols are supported. Any protocol layers I have missed will fail to compile because I now pass an extra parameter into the socket creation code. 2007-07-17Freezer: make kernel threads nonfreezable by defaultRafael J. Wysocki1-1/+1
Currently, the freezer treats all tasks as freezable, except for the kernel threads that explicitly set the PF_NOFREEZE flag for themselves. This approach is problematic, since it requires every kernel thread to either set PF_NOFREEZE explicitly, or call try_to_freeze(), even if it doesn't care for the freezing of tasks at all. It seems better to only require the kernel threads that want to or need to be frozen to use some freezer-related code and to remove any freezer-related code from the other (nonfreezable) kernel threads, which is done in this patch. The patch causes all kernel threads to be nonfreezable by default (ie. to have PF_NOFREEZE set by default) and introduces the set_freezable() function that should be called by the freezable kernel threads in order to unset PF_NOFREEZE. It also makes all of the currently freezable kernel threads call set_freezable(), so it shouldn't cause any (intentional) change of behaviour to appear. Additionally, it updates documentation to describe the freezing of tasks more accurately. [akpm@linux-foundation.org: build fixes] Signed-off-by: Rafael J. 2007-04-26[SK_BUFF]: Introduce skb_copy_from_linear_data{_offset}Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo1-2/+2

2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau1-1/+0
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2007-01-09[Bluetooth] Add packet size checks for CAPI messagesMarcel Holtmann1-6/+33
With malformed packets it might be possible to overwrite internal CMTP and CAPI data structures. This patch adds additional length checks to prevent these kinds of remote attacks. Signed-off-by: Marcel Holtmann <marcel@holtmann.org>
2006-10-16[Bluetooth] Add locking for bt_proto array manipulationMarcel Holtmann1-1/+1
The bt_proto array needs to be protected by some kind of locking to prevent a race condition between bt_sock_create and bt_sock_register. And in addition all calls to sk_alloc need to be made GFP_ATOMIC now. 2006-10-16[Bluetooth] Fix compat ioctl for BNEP, CMTP and HIDPMarcel Holtmann1-0/+33
There exists no attempt do deal with the fact that a structure with a uint32_t followed by a pointer is going to be different for 32-bit and 64-bit userspace. Any 32-bit process trying to use it will be failing with -EFAULT if it's lucky; suffering from having data dumped at a random address if it's not. 2006-01-04[NET]: move struct proto_ops to constEric Dumazet1-1/+1
I noticed that some of 'struct proto_ops' used in the kernel may share a cache line used by locks or other heavily modified data. (default linker alignement is 32 bytes, and L1_CACHE_LINE is 64 or 128 at least) This patch makes sure a 'struct proto_ops' can be declared as const, so that all cpus can share all parts of it without false sharing. This is not mandatory : a driver can still use a read/write structure if it needs to (and eventually a __read_mostly) I made a global stubstitute to change all existing occurences to make them const. This should reduce the possibility of false sharing on SMP, and speedup some socket system calls. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <dada1@cosmosbay.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2005-07-09[NET]: Transform skb_queue_len() binary tests into skb_queue_empty()David S. Miller1-4/+2
This is part of the grand scheme to eliminate the qlen member of skb_queue_head, and subsequently remove the 'list' member of sk_buff. Most users of skb_queue_len() want to know if the queue is empty or not, and that's trivially done with skb_queue_empty() which doesn't use the skb_queue_head->qlen member and instead uses the queue list emptyness as the test. 2005-04-26[PATCH] kill gratitious includes of major.h under net/*Al Viro3-3/+0
A lot of places in there are including major.h for no reason whatsoever. Removed. And yes, it still builds. The history of that stuff is often amusing. E.g. for net/core/sock.c the story looks so, as far as I've been able to reconstruct it: we used to need major.h in net/socket.c circa 1.1.early. In 1.1.13 that need had disappeared, along with register_chrdev(SOCKET_MAJOR, "socket", &net_fops) in sock_init(). Include had not. When 1.2 -> 1.3 reorg of net/* had moved a lot of stuff from net/socket.c to net/core/sock.c, this crap had followed... Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
