2021-02-07watchdog: qcom: Remove incorrect usage of QCOM_WDT_ENABLE_IRQSai Prakash Ranjan1-12/+1
As per register documentation, QCOM_WDT_ENABLE_IRQ which is BIT(1) of watchdog control register is wakeup interrupt enable bit and not related to bark interrupt at all, BIT(0) is used for that. So remove incorrect usage of this bit when supporting bark irq for pre-timeout notification. Currently with this bit set and bark interrupt specified, pre-timeout notification and/or watchdog reset/bite does not occur. 2021-02-07watchdog: mei_wdt: request stop on unregisterAlexander Usyskin1-0/+1
The MEI bus has a special behavior on suspend it destroys all the attached devices, this is due to the fact that also firmware context is not persistent across power flows. If watchdog on MEI bus is ticking before suspending the firmware times out and reports that the OS is missing watchdog tick. Send the stop command to the firmware on watchdog unregistered to eliminate the false event on suspend. This does not make the things worse from the user-space perspective as a user-space should re-open watchdog device after suspending before this patch. 2021-02-07watchdog: mtk_wdt: Remove mtk_wdt_stop() in probe() to prevent the system ↵freddy.hsin1-2/+15
freeze and it doesn't reboot by watchdog problem Before user space daemon start to access the watchdog device, there is a time interval that watchdog is disabled in the original flow. If the system freezing at this interval, it cannot be rebooted by watchdog hardware automatically. In order to solve this problem, the watchdog hardware should be kept working, and start hrtimer in framework to ping it by setting max_hw_heartbeat_ms and HW_RUNNING used in watchdog_need_worker to determine whether the worker should be started or not. Besides the redundant setting of max_timeout is also removed. 2021-02-07watchdog: renesas_wdt: don't sleep in atomic contextWolfram Sang1-6/+24
In the restart handler, we hit multiple OOPSes. One because of usleep_range() and one because of RPM. So, instead of re-using rwdt_start(), we implement an atomic version of it in the restart handler. As a little bonus, reboot will occur sooner because we can now use the smallest divider in the custom restart routine. All amba drivers return 0 in their remove callback. Together with the driver core ignoring the return value anyhow, it doesn't make sense to return a value here. Change the remove prototype to return void, which makes it explicit that returning an error value doesn't work as expected. This simplifies changing the core remove callback to return void, too. 2021-01-25watchdog: intel_scu_watchdog: Remove driver for deprecated platformAndy Shevchenko4-593/+0
Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based 32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones, tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago. There are no bugs or problems ever reported outside from Intel for breaking any of that platforms for years. It seems no real users exists who run more or less fresh kernel on it. The commit 05f4434bc130 ("ASoC: Intel: remove mfld_machine") also in align with this theory. Due to above and to reduce a burden of supporting outdated drivers we remove the support of outdated platforms completely. A reboot notifier, which stops the WDT by calling the stop hook without any check, would be registered when we set WDOG_STOP_ON_REBOOT flag. Howerer we allow the WDT driver to omit the stop hook since commit "d0684c8a93549" ("watchdog: Make stop function optional") and provide a module parameter for user that controls the WDOG_STOP_ON_REBOOT flag in commit 9232c80659e94 ("watchdog: Add stop_on_reboot parameter to control reboot policy"). Together that commits make user potential to insert a watchdog driver that don't provide a stop hook but with the stop_on_reboot parameter set, then dereferencing of null pointer occurs on system reboot. Check the stop hook before registering the reboot notifier to fix the issue. 2020-12-13watchdog/hpwdt: Disable NMI in Crash KernelJerry Hoemann1-0/+6
NMIs received during the crash path are problematic as hpwdt_pretimeout handling of the NMI would cause a reentry into kdump. The situation is complicated in that I/O errors can be signaled as NMI circumventing hpwdt_pretimeout's attempt to not claim NMI not associated with either the WDT or the iLO NMI switch. These NMI can additionally cause a secondary NMI which cause the system to hang. By disabling pretimeout and hpwdtimeout in crash path we both reduce the risk of receiving an NMI and simuletaneously leave the WDT running (if it was already in use) to allow the WDT to break the system out of hangs by the WDT reset. If the watchdog hardware is enabled/running during boot, e.g. due to a boot loader configuring it, we must tell the watchdog framework about this fact so that it can ping the watchdog until userspace opens the device and takes over control. After changing to check busy bit for the previous loading operation instead of the current one, for most of cases, the busy bit is not set for the first time of read, so there's no need to check so frequently, so this patch use usleep_range() to replace cpu_relax() to avoid busy loop. Also this patch change the max times to 11 which would be enough, since according to the specification, the busy bit would be set after a new loading operation and last 2 or 3 RTC clock cycles (about 60us~92us).
