2009-06-12cyber2000fb.c: use proper method for stopping unload if CONFIG_ARCH_SHARKRusty Russell1-5/+4
Russell explains the __module_get(): > cyber2000fb.c does it in its module initialization function > to prevent the module (when built for Shark) from being unloaded. It > does this because it's from the days of 2.2 kernels and no one bothered > writing the module unload support for Shark. Since 2.4, the correct answer has been to not define an unload fn. This includes a new defconfig for the Shark and some changes to the mach-shark directory to avoid namespace pollution and to switch the rtc to the newer driver. Signed-off-by: Alexander Schulz <alex@shark-linux.de> Signed-off-by: Russell King <rmk+kernel@arm.linux.org.uk>
2009-01-07pci: use pci_ioremap_bar() in drivers/videoArjan van de Ven1-2/+1
Use the newly introduced pci_ioremap_bar() function in drivers/video. pci_ioremap_bar() just takes a pci device and a bar number, with the goal of making it really hard to get wrong, while also having a central place to stick sanity checks. 2006-07-11[PATCH] vt: Remove VT-specific declarations and definitions from tty.hJon Smirl1-1/+0
MAX_NR_CONSOLES, fg_console, want_console and last_console are more of a function of the VT layer than the TTY one. Moving these to vt.h and vt_kern.h allows all of the framebuffer and VT console drivers to remove their dependency on tty.h. 2005-11-07[PATCH] fbcon/fbdev: Move softcursor out of fbdev to fbconAntonino A. Daplas1-1/+0
According to Jon Smirl, filling in the field fb_cursor with soft_cursor for drivers that do not support hardware cursors is redundant. The soft_cursor function is usable by all drivers because it is just a wrapper around fb_imageblit. And because soft_cursor is an fbcon-specific hook, the file is moved to the console directory. Thus, drivers that do not support hardware cursors can leave the fb_cursor field blank. For drivers that do, they can fill up this field with their own version. The end result is a smaller code size. And if the framebuffer console is not loaded, module/kernel size is also reduced because the soft_cursor module will also not be loaded. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
