2014-06-26tty: Update hypervisor tty drivers to use core stdout parsing code.Grant Likely1-12/+3
The evh_bytechan, hvc_opal and hvc_vio drivers all open code the parsing of the stdout node in the device tree. This patch simplifies the driver by removing the duplicated functionality. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@linaro.org>
2014-04-07tty/hvc_opal: Kick the HVC thread on OPAL console eventsBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-1/+21
The firmware can notify us when new input data is available, so let's make sure we wakeup the HVC thread in that case. Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
2014-02-07drivers/tty/hvc: don't use module_init in non-modular hyp. console codePaul Gortmaker1-7/+1
The HVC_OPAL/RTAS/UDBG/XEN options are all bool, and hence their support is either present or absent. It will never be modular, so using module_init as an alias for __initcall is rather misleading. Fix this up now, so that we can relocate module_init from init.h into module.h in the future. If we don't do this, we'd have to add module.h to obviously non-modular code, and that would be a worse thing. Note that direct use of __initcall is discouraged, vs. one of the priority categorized subgroups. As __initcall gets mapped onto device_initcall, our use of device_initcall directly in this change means that the runtime impact is zero -- it will remain at level 6 in initcall ordering. Also the __exitcall functions have been outright deleted since they are only ever of interest to UML, and UML will never be using any of this code. 2011-09-20powerpc/powernv: Support for OPAL consoleBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-0/+424
This adds a udbg and an hvc console backend for supporting a console using the OPAL console interfaces. On OPAL v1 we have hvc0 mapped to whatever console the system was configured for (network or hvsi serial port) via the service processor. On OPAL v2 we have hvcN mapped to the Nth console provided by OPAL which generally corresponds to: hvc0 : network console (raw protocol) hvc1 : serial port S1 (hvsi) hvc2 : serial port S2 (hvsi) Note: At this point, early debug console only works with OPAL v1 and shouldn't be enabled in a normal kernel.
