2012-06-28netdev/phy: Add driver for Broadcom BCM87XX 10G Ethernet PHYsDavid Daney1-0/+5
Add a driver for BCM8706 and BCM8727 devices. These are a 10Gig PHYs which use MII_ADDR_C45 addressing. They are always 10G full duplex, so there is no autonegotiation. All we do is report link state and send interrupts when it changes. If the PHY has a device tree of_node associated with it, the "broadcom,c45-reg-init" property is used to supply register initialization values when config_init() is called. 2012-05-08netdev/of/phy: Add MDIO bus multiplexer driven by GPIO lines.David Daney1-0/+10
The GPIO pins select which sub bus is connected to the master. Initially tested with an sn74cbtlv3253 switch device wired into the MDIO bus. Signed-off-by: David Daney <david.daney@cavium.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-05-08netdev/of/phy: Add MDIO bus multiplexer support.David Daney1-0/+9
This patch adds a somewhat generic framework for MDIO bus multiplexers. It is modeled on the I2C multiplexer. The multiplexer is needed if there are multiple PHYs with the same address connected to the same MDIO bus adepter, or if there is insufficient electrical drive capability for all the connected PHY devices. Conceptually it could look something like this: ------------------ | Control Signal | --------+--------- | --------------- --------+------ | MDIO MASTER |---| Multiplexer | --------------- --+-------+---- | | C C h h i i l l d d | | --------- A B --------- | | | | | | | PHY@1 +-------+ +---+ PHY@1 | | | | | | | --------- | | --------- --------- | | --------- | | | | | | | PHY@2 +-------+ +---+ PHY@2 | | | | | --------- --------- This framework configures the bus topology from device tree data. The mechanics of switching the multiplexer is left to device specific drivers. The follow-on patch contains a multiplexer driven by GPIO lines. 2011-11-26net: Revert ARCNET and PHYLIB to tristate optionsBen Hutchings1-1/+1
commit 88491d8103498a6166f70d5999902fec70924314 ("drivers/net: Kconfig & Makefile cleanup") changed the type of these options to bool, but they select code that could (and still can) be built as modules. 2011-08-27drivers/net: Kconfig & Makefile cleanupJeff Kirsher1-1/+1
The is does a general cleanup of the drivers/net/ Kconfig and Makefile. This patch create a "core" option and places all the networking core drivers into this option (default is yes for this option). In addition, it alphabitizes the Kconfig driver options. As a side cleanup, found that the arcnet, token ring, and PHY Kconfig options were a tri-state option and should have been a bool option. 2010-12-11phy: add the IC+ IP1001 driverGiuseppe CAVALLARO1-1/+1
This patch adds the IC+ IP1001 (Gigabit Ethernet Transceiver) driver. I've had to add an additional delay (2ns) to adjust RX clock phase at GMII/ RGMII interface (according to the PHY data-sheet). This helps to have the RGMII working on some ST platforms. Signed-off-by: Giuseppe Cavallaro <peppe.cavallaro@st.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2010-10-05don't let BCM63XX_PHY depend on non-existant symbolUwe Kleine-König1-1/+0
The kernel doesn't have a symbol called BCM63XX. There is a symbol BCM63XX_ENET (introduced in 9b1fc55a0500, 6 weeks after 09bb9aa0ed that introduced BCM63XX_PHY), but the driver compiles without that, too. 2009-12-17NET: Add driver for Octeon MDIO buses.David Daney1-0/+11
The Octeon SOC has two types of Ethernet ports, each type with its own driver. However, the PHYs for all the ports are controlled by a common MDIO bus. Because the mdio driver is not associated with a particular driver, but is instead a system level resource, we create s stand-alone driver for it. As for the driver, we put the register definitions in arch/mips/include/asm/octeon where most of the other Octeon register definitions live. This is a platform driver with the platform device for "mdio-octeon" being registered in the platform startup code. Signed-off-by: David Daney <ddaney@caviumnetworks.com> Acked-by: David S. 2008-11-17phylib: make mdio-gpio work without OF (v4)Paulius Zaleckas1-1/+4
make mdio-gpio work with non OpenFirmware gpio implementation. Aditional changes to mdio-gpio: - use gpio_request() and gpio_free() - place irq[] array in struct mdio_gpio_info - add module description, author and license - add note about compiling this driver as module - rename mdc and mdio function (were ugly names) - change MII to MDIO in bus name - add __init __exit to module (un)loading functions - probe fails if no phys added to the bus - kzalloc bitbang with sizeof(*bitbang) Changes since v3: - keep bus naming "%x" to be compatible with existing drivers. Changes since v2: - more #ifdefs reduction - platform driver will be registered on OF platforms also - unified platform and OF bus_id to phy%i Changes since v1: - removed NO_IRQ - reduced #idefs Laurent, please test this driver under OF. 2008-01-24phy/fixed.c: rework to not duplicate PHY layer functionalityVitaly Bordug1-27/+5
With that patch fixed.c now fully emulates MDIO bus, thus no need to duplicate PHY layer functionality. That, in turn, drastically simplifies the code, and drops down line count. As an additional bonus, now there is no need to register MDIO bus for each PHY, all emulated PHYs placed on the platform fixed MDIO bus. There is also no more need to pre-allocate PHYs via .config option, this is all now handled dynamically.
