Add driver for TI SN65DSI83 Single-link DSI to Single-link LVDS bridge and TI SN65DSI84 Single-link DSI to Dual-link or 2x Single-link LVDS bridge. TI SN65DSI85 is unsupported due to lack of hardware to test on, but easy to add. The driver operates the chip via I2C bus. Currently the LVDS clock are always derived from DSI clock lane, which is the usual mode of operation. Support for clock from external oscillator is not implemented, but it is easy to add if ever needed. Only RGB888 pixel format is implemented, the LVDS666 is not supported, but could be added if needed. The ChromeOS EC ANX7688 bridge is connected to a ChromeOS Embedded Controller, and is accessed using I2C tunneling through the Embedded Controller. Hence add a dependency on I2C_CROS_EC_TUNNEL, to prevent asking the user about this driver when configuring a kernel without support for the ChromeOS EC tunnel I2C bus. This driver adds support for the ChromeOS EC ANX7688 HDMI to DP converter For our use case, the only reason the Linux kernel driver is necessary is to reject resolutions that require more bandwidth than what is available on the DP side. DP bandwidth and lane count are reported by the bridge via 2 registers and, as far as we know, only chips that have a firmware version greater than 0.85 support these two registers. 2021-05-03drm/bridge: ti-sn65dsi86: Break GPIO and MIPI-to-eDP bridge into sub-driversDouglas Anderson1-0/+1
Let's use the newly minted aux bus to break up the driver into sub drivers. We're not doing a full breakup here: all the code is still in the same file and remains largely untouched. The big goal here of using sub-drivers is to allow part of our code to finish probing even if some other code needs to defer. This can solve some chicken-and-egg problems. Specifically: - In commit 48834e6084f1 ("drm/panel-simple: Support hpd-gpios for delaying prepare()") we had to add a bit of a hack to simpel-panel to support HPD showing up late. We can get rid of that hack now since the GPIO part of our driver can finish probing early. - We have a desire to expose our DDC bus to simple-panel (and perhaps to a backlight driver?). That will end up with the same chicken-and-egg problem. A future patch to move this to a sub-driver will fix it. - If/when we support the PWM functionality present in the bridge chip for a backlight we'll end up with another chicken-and-egg problem. If we allow the PWM to be a sub-driver too then it solves this problem. The DRM_SIL_SII8620 kconfig has a weak `imply` dependency on EXTCON, which causes issues when sii8620 is built as a builtin and EXTCON is built as a module. Add a new DRM bridge driver for Cadence MHDP8546 DPTX IP used in TI J721E SoC. MHDP DPTX IP is the component that complies with VESA DisplayPort (DP) and embedded Display Port (eDP) standards. It integrates uCPU running the embedded Firmware (FW) interfaced over APB interface. Basically, it takes a DPI stream as input and outputs it encoded in DP format. Currently, it supports only SST mode. Since commit 84af7a6194e4 ("checkpatch: kconfig: prefer 'help' over '---help---'"), the number of '---help---' has been gradually decreasing, but there are still more than 2400 instances. This commit finishes the conversion. While I touched the lines, I also fixed the indentation. 2020-05-05drm/bridge: chrontel-ch7033: Add a new driverLubomir Rintel1-0/+10
This is a driver for video encoder with VGA and DVI/HDMI outputs. There is no documentation for the chip -- the operation was guessed from what was sniffed on a Dell Wyse 3020 ThinOS terminal, the register names come from the ch7035 driver in Mediatek's GPL code dump. Only bare minimum is implemented -- no fancy stuff, such as scaling. That would only worsen our misery. We don't load the firmware and we don't need to even bother enabling the MCU. There are probably no distributable firmware images anyway. Tested with a handful of monitors ranging from 1024x768@75 to 1400x1050@60, with VGA as well as DVI. 2020-02-26drm/bridge: Add bridge driver for display connectorsLaurent Pinchart1-0/+11
Display connectors are modelled in DT as a device node, but have so far been handled manually in several bridge drivers. This resulted in duplicate code in several bridge drivers, with slightly different (and thus confusing) logics. In order to fix this, implement a bridge driver for display connectors. The driver centralises logic for the DVI, HDMI, VGAn composite and S-video connectors and exposes corresponding bridge operations. This driver in itself doesn't solve the issue completely, changes in bridge and display controller drivers are needed to make use of the new connector driver. lvds-encoder.c implementation is also suitable for LVDS decoders, not just LVDS encoders. Instead of creating a new driver for addressing support for transparent LVDS decoders, repurpose lvds-encoder.c for the greater good with this patch. This patch only "rebrands" the lvds-encoder.c driver, to make it suitable for hosting LVDS decoders support. The actual support for LVDS decoders will come with a later patch. In order to address the original reason for the commit, namely that not all boards use the remote controller functionality and hence should not need have to deal with RC_CORE, the second part of this change now makes the remote control support in the driver optional and contingent on RC_CORE being defined. And with this the hard dependency on INPUT also goes away as that is only needed if RC_CORE is defined (which in turn already depends on INPUT). Add support for TI's sn65dsi86 dsi2edp bridge chip. The chip converts DSI transmitted signal to eDP signal, which is fed to the connected eDP panel. This chip can be controlled via either i2c interface or dsi interface. Currently in driver all the control registers are being accessed through i2c interface only. Also as of now HPD support has not been added to bridge chip driver. This patch makes RC_CORE to be selected with this driver. sil_sii8620 driver calls remote controller interfaces directly so RC_CORE should be enabled mandatorily. And some boards not using remote controller device don't really need to know that RC_CORE config should be enabled to use sil_sii8620 driver only for HDMI. 2018-04-23drm/bridge: Add Cadence DSI driverBoris Brezillon1-0/+10
Add a driver for Cadence DPI -> DSI bridge. This driver only support a subset of Cadence DSI bridge capabilities. This driver has been tested/debugged in a simulated environment which explains why some of the features are missing. Here is a non-exhaustive list of missing features: * burst mode * DPHY init/configuration steps * support for additional input interfaces (SDI input) DSI commands and non-burst video mode have been tested.
