2016-09-20powerpc: Remove all usages of NO_IRQMichael Ellerman1-1/+1
NO_IRQ has been == 0 on powerpc for just over ten years (since commit 0ebfff1491ef ("[POWERPC] Add new interrupt mapping core and change platforms to use it")). It's also 0 on most other arches. Although it's fairly harmless, every now and then it causes confusion when a driver is built on powerpc and another arch which doesn't define NO_IRQ. There's at least 6 definitions of NO_IRQ in drivers/, at least some of which are to work around that problem. So we'd like to remove it. This is fairly trivial in the arch code, we just convert: if (irq == NO_IRQ) to if (!irq) if (irq != NO_IRQ) to if (irq) irq = NO_IRQ; to irq = 0; return NO_IRQ; to return 0; And a few other odd cases as well. At least for now we keep the #define NO_IRQ, because there is driver code that uses NO_IRQ and the fixes to remove those will go via other trees. Note we also change some occurrences in PPC sound drivers, drivers/ps3, and drivers/macintosh. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-07-21powerpc: Move 32-bit probe() machine to later in the boot processBenjamin Herrenschmidt4-8/+4
This converts all the 32-bit platforms to use the expanded device-tree which is a pretty mechanical change. Unlike 64-bit, the 32-bit kernel didn't rely on platform initializations to setup the MMU since it sets it up entirely before probe_machine() so the move has comparatively less consequences though it's a bigger patch. 2016-07-14powerpc: Make ppc_md.{halt, restart} __noreturnDaniel Axtens2-2/+2
powernv marks it's halt and restart calls as __noreturn. However, ppc_md does not have this annotation. Add the annotation to ppc_md, and then to every halt/restart function that is missing it. Additionally, I have verified that all of these functions do not return. Occasionally I have added a spin loop to be sure. 2015-09-16genirq: Remove irq argument from irq flow handlersThomas Gleixner1-1/+1
Most interrupt flow handlers do not use the irq argument. Those few which use it can retrieve the irq number from the irq descriptor. Remove the argument. 2014-09-25powerpc: make of_device_ids constUwe Kleine-König4-4/+4
of_device_ids (i.e. compatible strings and the respective data) are not supposed to change at runtime. All functions working with of_device_ids provided by <linux/of.h> work with const of_device_ids. 2012-02-16irq_domain: Replace irq_alloc_host() with revmap-specific initializersGrant Likely1-5/+1
Each revmap type has different arguments for setting up the revmap. This patch splits up the generator functions so that each revmap type can do its own setup and the user doesn't need to keep track of how each revmap type handles the arguments. This patch also adds a host_data argument to the generators. There are cases where the host_data pointer will be needed before the function returns. ie. the legacy map calls the .map callback for each irq before returning. v2: - Add void *host_data argument to irq_domain_add_*() functions - fixed failure to compile - Moved IRQ_DOMAIN_MAP_* defines into irqdomain.c Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Cc: Rob Herring <rob.herring@calxeda.com> Cc: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org> Cc: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@linutronix.de> Cc: Milton Miller <miltonm@bga.com> Tested-by: Olof Johansson <olof@lixom.net>
2012-02-15irq_domain/powerpc: Use common irq_domain structure instead of irq_hostGrant Likely1-5/+5
This patch drops the powerpc-specific irq_host structures and uses the common irq_domain strucutres defined in linux/irqdomain.h. It also fixes all the users to use the new structure names. Renaming irq_host to irq_domain has been discussed for a long time, and this patch is a step in the process of generalizing the powerpc virq code to be usable by all architecture. An astute reader will notice that this patch actually removes the irq_host structure instead of renaming it. This is because the irq_domain structure already exists in include/linux/irqdomain.h and has the needed data members. .name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members. This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup will be trivial. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo2-0/+2
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. Kill of some old defines and macros that we no longer use like CPM_MAP_ADDR and CPM_IRQ_OFFSET. Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2009-04-27powerpc/82xx: Rework Embedded Planet ep8248e platform to use of_mdioGrant Likely1-6/+3
This patch modifies the bitbanged MDIO driver in the ep8248e platform code to use the common of_mdio infrastructure. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Acked-by: Andy Fleming <afleming@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2009-03-11powerpc/kconfig: Kill PPC_MULTIPLATFORMBenjamin Herrenschmidt1-1/+1
CONFIG_PPC_MULTIPLATFORM is a remain of the pre-powerpc days and isn't really meaningful anymore. It was basically equivalent to PPC64 || 6xx. This removes it along with the following changes: - 32-bit platforms that relied on PPC32 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now rely on 6xx which is what they want anyway. - A new symbol, PPC_BOOK3S, is defined that represent compliance with the "Server" variant of the architecture. This is set when either 6xx or PPC64 is set and open the door for future BOOK3E 64-bit. - 64-bit platforms that relied on PPC64 && PPC_MULTIPLATFORM now use PPC64 && PPC_BOOK3S - A separate and selectable CONFIG_PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE option is now used to control the use of prom_init.c Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
2009-02-06arch/powerpc: Eliminate double sizeofJulia Lawall1-1/+1
Taking sizeof the result of sizeof is quite strange and does not seem to be what is wanted here. This was fixed using the following semantic patch. (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @@ expression E; @@ - sizeof ( sizeof (E) - ) @@ type T; @@ - sizeof ( sizeof (T) - ) // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Acked-by: Scott Wood <scottwood@freescale.com> Signed-off-by: Kumar Gala <galak@kernel.crashing.org>
2008-12-16powerpc: Introduce ppc_pci_flags accessorsJosh Boyer1-1/+1
Currently there are a number of platforms that open code access to the ppc_pci_flags global variable. However, that variable is not present if CONFIG_PCI is not set, which can lead to a build break. This introduces a number of accessor functions that are defined to be empty in the case of CONFIG_PCI being disabled. The various platform files in the kernel are updated to use these. 2008-10-09phylib: rename mii_bus::dev to mii_bus::parentLennert Buytenhek1-1/+1
In preparation of giving mii_bus objects a device tree presence of their own, rename struct mii_bus's ->dev argument to ->parent, since having a 'struct device *dev' that points to our parent device conflicts with introducing a 'struct device dev' representing our own device.
