2020-08-19MIPS: only register FTLBPar exception handler for supported modelsWANG Xuerui1-0/+13
[ Upstream commit efd1b4ad3d5178a74387bc5ff69a2d4585f586c6 ] Previously ExcCode 16 is unconditionally treated as the FTLB parity exception (FTLBPar), but in fact its semantic is implementation- dependent. Looking at various manuals it seems the FTLBPar exception is only present on some recent MIPS Technologies cores, so only register the handler on these. 2020-06-04KVM: MIPS: Enable KVM support for Loongson-3Huacai Chen1-0/+1
This patch enable KVM support for Loongson-3 by selecting HAVE_KVM, but only enable KVM/VZ on Loongson-3A R4+ (because VZ of early processors are incomplete). Besides, Loongson-3 support SMP guests, so we clear the linked load bit of LLAddr in kvm_vz_vcpu_load() if the guest has more than one VCPUs. 2020-05-24MIPS: emulate CPUCFG instruction on older Loongson64 coresWANG Xuerui1-0/+9
CPUCFG is the instruction for querying processor characteristics on newer Loongson processors, much like CPUID of x86. Since the instruction is supposedly designed to provide a unified way to do feature detection (without having to, for example, parse /proc/cpuinfo which is too heavyweight), it is important to provide compatibility for older cores without native support. Fortunately, most of the fields can be synthesized without changes to semantics. Performance is not really big a concern, because feature detection logic is not expected to be invoked very often in typical userland applications. The instruction can't be emulated on LOONGSON_2EF cores, according to FlyGoat's experiments. Because the LWC2 opcode is assigned to other valid instructions on 2E and 2F, no RI exception is raised for us to intercept. So compatibility is only extended back furthest to Loongson-3A1000. Loongson-2K is covered too, as it is basically a remix of various blocks from the 3A/3B models from a kernel perspective. This is lightly based on Loongson's work on their Linux 3.10 fork, for being the authority on the right feature flags to fill in, where things aren't otherwise discoverable. 2020-05-24MIPS: Tidy up CP0.Config6 bits definitionHuacai Chen1-6/+6
CP0.Config6 is a Vendor-defined register whose bits definitions are different from one to another. Recently, Xuerui's Loongson-3 patch and Serge's P5600 patch make the definitions inconsistency and unclear. To make life easy, this patch tidy the definition up: 1, Add a _MTI_ infix for proAptiv/P5600 feature bits; 2, Add a _LOONGSON_ infix for Loongson-3 feature bits; 3, Add bit6/bit7 definition for Loongson-3 which will be used later. All existing users of these macros are updated. 2020-05-22mips: Add CP0 Write Merge config supportSerge Semin1-0/+48
CP0 config register may indicate whether write-through merging is allowed. Currently there are two types of the merging available: SysAD Valid and Full modes. Whether each of them are supported by the core is implementation dependent. Moreover whether the ability to change the mode also depends on the chip family instance. Taking into account all of this we created a dedicated mm_config() method to detect and enable merging if it's supported. It is called for MIPS-type processors at CPU-probe stage and attempts to detect whether the write merging is available. If it's known to be supported and switchable, then switch on the full mode. Otherwise just perform the CP0.Config.MM field analysis. In addition there are platforms like InterAptiv/ProAptiv, which do have the MM bit field set by default, but having write-through cacheing unsupported makes write-merging also unsupported. In this case we just ignore the MM field value. 2020-05-22mips: Add MIPS Release 5 supportSerge Semin1-0/+17
There are five MIPS32/64 architecture releases currently available: from 1 to 6 except fourth one, which was intentionally skipped. Three of them can be called as major: 1st, 2nd and 6th, that not only have some system level alterations, but also introduced significant core/ISA level updates. The rest of the MIPS architecture releases are minor. Even though they don't have as much ISA/system/core level changes as the major ones with respect to the previous releases, they still provide a set of updates (I'd say they were intended to be the intermediate releases before a major one) that might be useful for the kernel and user-level code, when activated by the kernel or compiler. In particular the following features were introduced or ended up being available at/after MIPS32/64 Release 5 architecture: + the last release of the misaligned memory access instructions, + virtualisation - VZ ASE - is optional component of the arch, + SIMD - MSA ASE - is optional component of the arch, + DSP ASE is optional component of the arch, + CP0.Status.FR=1 for CP1.FIR.F64=1 (pure 64-bit FPU general registers) must be available if FPU is implemented, + CP1.FIR.Has2008 support is required so CP1.FCSR.{ABS2008,NAN2008} bits are available. + UFR/UNFR aliases to access CP0.Status.FR from user-space by means of ctc1/cfc1 instructions (enabled by CP0.Config5.UFR), + CP0.COnfig5.LLB=1 and eretnc instruction are implemented to without accidentally clearing LL-bit when returning from an interrupt, exception, or error trap, + XPA feature together with extended versions of CPx registers is introduced, which needs to have mfhc0/mthc0 instructions available. So due to these changes GNU GCC provides an extended instructions set support for MIPS32/64 Release 5 by default like eretnc/mfhc0/mthc0. Even though the architecture alteration isn't that big, it still worth to be taken into account by the kernel software. Finally we can't deny that some optimization/limitations might be found in future and implemented on some level in kernel or compiler. In this case having even intermediate MIPS architecture releases support would be more than useful. So the most of the changes provided by this commit can be split into either compile- or runtime configs related. The compile-time related changes are caused by adding the new CONFIG_CPU_MIPS32_R5/CONFIG_CPU_MIPSR5 configs and concern the code activating MIPSR2 or MIPSR6 already implemented features (like eretnc/LLbit, mthc0/mfhc0). In addition CPU_HAS_MSA can be now freely enabled for MIPS32/64 release 5 based platforms as this is done for CPU_MIPS32_R6 CPUs. The runtime changes concerns the features which are handled with respect to the MIPS ISA revision detected at run-time by means of CP0.Config.{AT,AR} bits. Alas these fields can be used to detect either r1 or r2 or r6 releases. But since we know which CPUs in fact support the R5 arch, we can manually set MIPS_CPU_ISA_M32R5/MIPS_CPU_ISA_M64R5 bit of c->isa_level and then use cpu_has_mips32r5/cpu_has_mips64r5 where it's appropriate. Since XPA/EVA provide too complex alterationss and to have them used with MIPS32 Release 2 charged kernels (for compatibility with current platform configs) they are left to be setup as a separate kernel configs. Some userland application/program runtime/dynamic loaded need to know about the current ISA level to use the best runtime. While kernel doesn't provides this info. ELF_PLATFORM only provides some info about the CPU, with very few info, for example, the value is "mips" for both 24Kc and P6600. Currently ELF_BASE_PLATFORM is not used by MIPS (only by powerpc). So we cant set its value as: mips2, mips3, mips4, mips5, mips32, mips32r2, mips32r6 mips64, mips64r2, mips64r6 Then in userland, we can get it by: getauxval(AT_BASE_PLATFORM) The only problem is that it seems has different defination than ppc: on ppc, it is the mircoarchitecture while now we use it as ISA level on MIPS. MAC2008 means the processor implemented IEEE754 style Fused MADD instruction. It was introduced in Release3 but removed in Release5. The toolchain support of MAC2008 have never landed except for Loongson processors. This patch aimed to disabled the MAC2008 if it's optional. For MAC2008 only processors, we corrected math-emu behavior to align with actual hardware behavior. 2019-11-23MIPS: Ingenic: Disable abandoned HPTLB function.Zhou Yanjie1-2/+19
JZ4760/JZ4770/JZ4775/X1000/X1500 has an abandoned huge page tlb, this mode is not compatible with the MIPS standard, it will cause tlbmiss and into an infinite loop (line 21 in the tlb-funcs.S) when starting the init process. write 0xa9000000 to cp0 register 5 sel 4 to disable this function to prevent getting stuck. Confirmed by Ingenic, this operation will not adversely affect processors without HPTLB function. In order to further reduce power consumption, the XBurst core by default attempts to avoid branch target buffer lookups by detecting & special casing loops. This feature will cause BogoMIPS and lpj calculate in error. Set cp0 config7 bit 4 to disable this feature. 2019-02-04MIPS: MemoryMapID (MMID) SupportPaul Burton1-1/+54
Introduce support for using MemoryMapIDs (MMIDs) as an alternative to Address Space IDs (ASIDs). The major difference between the two is that MMIDs are global - ie. an MMID uniquely identifies an address space across all coherent CPUs. In contrast ASIDs are non-global per-CPU IDs, wherein each address space is allocated a separate ASID for each CPU upon which it is used. This global namespace allows a new GINVT instruction be used to globally invalidate TLB entries associated with a particular MMID across all coherent CPUs in the system, removing the need for IPIs to invalidate entries with separate ASIDs on each CPU. The allocation scheme used here is largely borrowed from arm64 (see arch/arm64/mm/context.c). In essence we maintain a bitmap to track available MMIDs, and MMIDs in active use at the time of a rollover to a new MMID version are preserved in the new version. The allocation scheme requires efficient 64 bit atomics in order to perform reasonably, so this support depends upon CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64=n (ie. currently it will only be included in MIPS64 kernels). The first, and currently only, available CPU with support for MMIDs is the MIPS I6500. This CPU supports 16 bit MMIDs, and so for now we cap our MMIDs to 16 bits wide in order to prevent the bitmap growing to absurd sizes if any future CPU does implement 32 bit MMIDs as the architecture manuals suggest is recommended. When MMIDs are in use we also make use of GINVT instruction which is available due to the global nature of MMIDs. By executing a sequence of GINVT & SYNC 0x14 instructions we can avoid the overhead of an IPI to each remote CPU in many cases. One complication is that GINVT will invalidate wired entries (in all cases apart from type 0, which targets the entire TLB). In order to avoid GINVT invalidating any wired TLB entries we set up, we make sure to create those entries using a reserved MMID (0) that we never associate with any address space. Also of note is that KVM will require further work in order to support MMIDs & GINVT, since KVM is involved in allocating IDs for guests & in configuring the MMU. Processors implementing the MIPS MT ASE may have performance counters implemented per core or per TC. Processors implemented by MIPS Technologies signify presence per TC through a bit in the implementation specific Config7 register. Currently the code which probes for their presence blindly reads a magic number corresponding to this bit, despite it potentially having a different meaning in the CPU implementation. Since CPU features are generally detected by cpu-probe.c, perform the detection here instead. Introduce cpu_set_mt_per_tc_perf which checks the bit in config7 and call it from MIPS CPUs known to implement this bit and the MT ASE, specifically, the 34K, 1004K and interAptiv. Once the presence of the per-tc counter is indicated in cpu_data, tests for it can be updated to use this flag. This patch modifies the way we store core & VP IDs such that we store them in a single 32 bit integer whose format matches that of the MIPSr6 GlobalNumber register. Whereas we have previously stored core & VP IDs in separate fields, storing them in a single GlobalNumber-like field: 1) Reduces the size of struct cpuinfo_mips by 4 bytes, and will allow it to not grow when cluster support is added. 2) Gives us a natural place to store cluster number, which matches up with what the architecture provides. 3) Will be useful in the future as a parameter to the MIPSr6 GINVI instruction to specify a target CPU whose icache that instruction should operate on. The cpu_set*() accessor functions are moved out of the asm/cpu-info.h header in order to allow them to use the WARN_ON macro, which is unusable in asm/cpu-info.h due to include ordering. We currently have fields in struct cpuinfo_mips for the core & VP(E) ID of a particular CPU, and various pieces of code directly access those fields. This patch abstracts such access by introducing accessor functions cpu_core(), cpu_set_core(), cpu_vpe_id() & cpu_set_vpe_id() and having code that needs to access these values call those functions rather than directly accessing the struct cpuinfo_mips fields. This prepares us for changes to the way in which those values are stored in later patches. The cpu_vpe_id() function is introduced even though we already had a cpu_vpe_id() macro for a couple of reasons: 1) It's more consistent with the core, and future cluster, accessors. 2) It ensures a sensible return type without explicit casts. 3) It's generally preferable to use functions rather than macros. The kernel contains a small amount of incomplete code aimed at supporting old R6000 CPUs. This is: - Unused, as no machine selects CONFIG_SYS_HAS_CPU_R6000. - Broken, since there are glaring errors such as r6000_fpu.S moving the FCSR register to t1, then ignoring it & instead saving t0 into struct sigcontext... - A maintenance headache, since it's code that nobody can test which nevertheless imposes constraints on code which it shares with other machines. Remove this incomplete & broken R6000 CPU support in order to clean up and in preparation for changes which will no longer need to consider dragging the pretense of R6000 support along with them. Introduce the I6500 PRID & probe it just the same way as I6400. The MIPS I6500 is the latest in Imagination Technologies' I-Class range of CPUs, with a focus on scalability & heterogeneity. It introduces the notion of multiple clusters to the MIPS Coherent Processing System, allowing for a far higher total number of cores & threads in a system when compared with its predecessors. Clusters don't need to be identical, and may contain differing numbers of cores & IOCUs, or cores with differing properties. This patch alone adds the basic support for booting Linux on an I6500 CPU without support for any of its new functionality, for which support will be introduced in further patches. Probe for availablility of M{T,F}HC0 instructions used with e.g. XPA in the VZ guest context, and make it available via cpu_guest_has_mvh. This will be helpful in properly emulating the MAAR registers in KVM for MIPS VZ. Probe for presence of guest CP0_UserLocal register and expose via cpu_guest_has_userlocal. This register is optional pre-r6, so this will allow KVM to only save/restore/expose the guest CP0_UserLocal register if it exists.
