2014-04-05smp, hexagon: kill SMP single function call interruptJiang Liu1-1/+0
Commit 9a46ad6d6df3b54 "smp: make smp_call_function_many() use logic similar to smp_call_function_single()" has unified the way to handle single and multiple cross-CPU function calls. Now only one intterupt is needed for architecture specific code to support generic SMP function call interfaces, so kill the redundant single function call interrupt. Pull networking updates from David Miller: 1) BPF debugger and asm tool by Daniel Borkmann. 2) Speed up create/bind in AF_PACKET, also from Daniel Borkmann. 3) Correct reciprocal_divide and update users, from Hannes Frederic Sowa and Daniel Borkmann. 4) Currently we only have a "set" operation for the hw timestamp socket ioctl, add a "get" operation to match. From Ben Hutchings. 5) Add better trace events for debugging driver datapath problems, also from Ben Hutchings. 6) Implement auto corking in TCP, from Eric Dumazet. Basically, if we have a small send and a previous packet is already in the qdisc or device queue, defer until TX completion or we get more data. 7) Allow userspace to manage ipv6 temporary addresses, from Jiri Pirko. 8) Add a qdisc bypass option for AF_PACKET sockets, from Daniel Borkmann. 9) Share IP header compression code between Bluetooth and IEEE802154 layers, from Jukka Rissanen. 10) Fix ipv6 router reachability probing, from Jiri Benc. 11) Allow packets to be captured on macvtap devices, from Vlad Yasevich. 12) Support tunneling in GRO layer, from Jerry Chu. 13) Allow bonding to be configured fully using netlink, from Scott Feldman. 14) Allow AF_PACKET users to obtain the VLAN TPID, just like they can already get the TCI. From Atzm Watanabe. 15) New "Heavy Hitter" qdisc, from Terry Lam. 16) Significantly improve the IPSEC support in pktgen, from Fan Du. 17) Allow ipv4 tunnels to cache routes, just like sockets. From Tom Herbert. 18) Add Proportional Integral Enhanced packet scheduler, from Vijay Subramanian. 19) Allow openvswitch to mmap'd netlink, from Thomas Graf. 20) Key TCP metrics blobs also by source address, not just destination address. From Christoph Paasch. 21) Support 10G in generic phylib. From Andy Fleming. 22) Try to short-circuit GRO flow compares using device provided RX hash, if provided. From Tom Herbert. 2014-01-12arch: Clean up asm/barrier.h implementations using asm-generic/barrier.hPeter Zijlstra1-0/+1
We're going to be adding a few new barrier primitives, and in order to avoid endless duplication make more agressive use of asm-generic/barrier.h. Change the asm-generic/barrier.h such that it allows partial barrier definitions and fills out the rest with defaults. There are a few architectures (m32r, m68k) that could probably do away with their barrier.h file entirely but are kept for now due to their unconventional nop() implementation. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/signal Pull big execve/kernel_thread/fork unification series from Al Viro: "All architectures are converted to new model. Quite a bit of that stuff is actually shared with architecture trees; in such cases it's literally shared branch pulled by both, not a cherry-pick. A lot of ugliness and black magic is gone (-3KLoC total in this one): - kernel_thread()/kernel_execve()/sys_execve() redesign. We don't do syscalls from kernel anymore for either kernel_thread() or kernel_execve(): kernel_thread() is essentially clone(2) with callback run before we return to userland, the callbacks either never return or do successful do_execve() before returning. kernel_execve() is a wrapper for do_execve() - it doesn't need to do transition to user mode anymore. As a result kernel_thread() and kernel_execve() are arch-independent now - they live in kernel/fork.c and fs/exec.c resp. sys_execve() is also in fs/exec.c and it's completely architecture-independent. - daemonize() is gone, along with its parts in fs/*.c - struct pt_regs * is no longer passed to do_fork/copy_process/ copy_thread/do_execve/search_binary_handler/->load_binary/do_coredump. - sys_fork()/sys_vfork()/sys_clone() unified; some architectures still need wrappers (ones with callee-saved registers not saved in pt_regs on syscall entry), but the main part of those suckers is in kernel/fork.c now." * 'for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/signal: (113 commits) do_coredump(): get rid of pt_regs argument print_fatal_signal(): get rid of pt_regs argument ptrace_signal(): get rid of unused arguments get rid of ptrace_signal_deliver() arguments new helper: signal_pt_regs() unify default ptrace_signal_deliver flagday: kill pt_regs argument of do_fork() death to idle_regs() don't pass regs to copy_process() flagday: don't pass regs to copy_thread() bfin: switch to generic vfork, get rid of pointless wrappers xtensa: switch to generic clone() openrisc: switch to use of generic fork and clone unicore32: switch to generic clone(2) score: switch to generic fork/vfork/clone c6x: sanitize copy_thread(), get rid of clone(2) wrapper, switch to generic clone() take sys_fork/sys_vfork/sys_clone prototypes to linux/syscalls.h mn10300: switch to generic fork/vfork/clone h8300: switch to generic fork/vfork/clone tile: switch to generic clone() ... 2012-11-14tracing,x86: Add a TSC trace_clockDavid Sharp1-0/+1
In order to promote interoperability between userspace tracers and ftrace, add a trace_clock that reports raw TSC values which will then be recorded in the ring buffer. Userspace tracers that also record TSCs are then on exactly the same time base as the kernel and events can be unambiguously interlaced. Tested: Enabled a tracepoint and the "tsc" trace_clock and saw very large timestamp values. v2: Move arch-specific bits out of generic code. v3: Rename "x86-tsc", cleanups v7: Generic arch bits in Kbuild.
