2012-10-09Merge tag 'sound-3.7' of ↵Linus Torvalds10-162/+57
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound Pull sound updates from Takashi Iwai: "This contains pretty many small commits covering fairly large range of files in sound/ directory. Partly because of additional API support and partly because of constantly developed ASoC and ARM stuff. Some highlights: - Introduced the helper function and documentation for exposing the channel map via control API, as discussed in Plumbers; most of PCI drivers are covered, will follow more drivers later - Most of drivers have been replaced with the new PM callbacks (if the bus is supported) - HD-audio controller got the support of runtime PM and the support of D3 clock-stop. Also changing the power_save option in sysfs kicks off immediately to enable / disable the power-save mode. - Another significant code change in HD-audio is the rewrite of firmware loading code. Other than that, most of changes in HD-audio are continued cleanups and standardization for the generic auto parser and bug fixes (HBR, device-specific fixups), in addition to the support of channel-map API. - Addition of ASoC bindings for the compressed API, used by the mid-x86 drivers. - Lots of cleanups and API refreshes for ASoC codec drivers and DaVinci. - Conversion of OMAP to dmaengine. - New machine driver for Wolfson Microelectronics Bells. - New CODEC driver for Wolfson Microelectronics WM0010. - Enhancements to the ux500 and wm2000 drivers - A new driver for DA9055 and the support for regulator bypass mode." Fix up various arm soc header file reorg conflicts. * tag 'sound-3.7' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tiwai/sound: (339 commits) ALSA: hda - Add new codec ALC283 ALC290 support ALSA: hda - avoid unneccesary indices on "Headphone Jack" controls ALSA: hda - fix indices on boost volume on Conexant ALSA: aloop - add locking to timer access ALSA: hda - Fix hang caused by race during suspend. sound: Remove unnecessary semicolon ALSA: hda/realtek - Fix detection of ALC271X codec ALSA: hda - Add inverted internal mic quirk for Lenovo IdeaPad U310 ALSA: hda - make Realtek/Sigmatel/Conexant use the generic unsol event ALSA: hda - make a generic unsol event handler ASoC: codecs: Add DA9055 codec driver ASoC: eukrea-tlv320: Convert it to platform driver ALSA: ASoC: add DT bindings for CS4271 ASoC: wm_hubs: Ensure volume updates are handled during class W startup ASoC: wm5110: Adding missing volume update bits ASoC: wm5110: Add OUT3R support ASoC: wm5110: Add AEC loopback support ASoC: wm5110: Rename EPOUT to HPOUT3 ASoC: arizona: Add more clock rates ASoC: arizona: Add more DSP options for mixer input muxes ...

2012-10-07ARM: davinci: don't mark da850_register_cpufreq as __initArnd Bergmann1-1/+1
The mityomapl138_cpufreq_init and read_factory_config function in board-mityomapl138.c are not __init functions and might be called at a later stage, so da850_register_cpufreq must not be __init either. Without this patch, building da8xx_omapl_defconfig results in: WARNING: arch/arm/mach-davinci/built-in.o(.text+0x2eb4): Section mismatch in reference from the function read_factory_config() to the function .init.text:da850_register_cpufreq() The function read_factory_config() references the function __init da850_register_cpufreq(). This is often because read_factory_config lacks a __init annotation or the annotation of da850_register_cpufreq is wrong. 2012-08-27ASoC/ARM: Davinci: McASP: split asp header into platform and audio specificHebbar, Gururaja9-143/+57
Davinci McASP header & driver are shared by few OMAP platforms (like TI81xx, AM335x). Splitting asp header into Davinci platform specific header and Audio specific header helps to share them across platforms. Audio specific defines is moved to to common <linux/platform_data/davinci_asp.h> so that the header can be accessed by all related platforms. While here, correct the header usage (remove multiple header re-definitions and unused headers) and remove platform names from structures comments and enum. Also some some coding style errors. 2012-08-10ARM: davinci: remove broken ntosd2_init_i2cArnd Bergmann1-39/+0
ntosd2_init_i2c walks the ntosd2_i2c_info array, which it expects to be populated with at least one member. gcc correctly warns about the out-of-bounds access here. Since this can not possibly work, it's better to disable i2c support entirely on this board. Without this patch, building davinci_all_defconfig results in: arch/arm/mach-davinci/board-neuros-osd2.c: In function 'davinci_ntosd2_init': arch/arm/mach-davinci/board-neuros-osd2.c:187:20: warning: array subscript is above array bounds [-Warray-bounds] Signed-off-by: Arnd Bergmann <arnd@arndb.de> Acked-by: Sekhar Nori <nsekhar@ti.com> Cc: Kevin Hilman <khilman@ti.com> Cc: Andrey Porodko <panda@chelcom.ru>

2012-07-24Merge tag 'dt' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-socLinus Torvalds2-3/+14
Pull arm-soc device tree description updates from Arnd Bergmann: "This branch contains two kinds of updates: Some platforms in the process of getting converted to device tree based booting, and the platform specific patches necessary for that are included here. Other platforms are already converted, so we just need to update the actual device tree source files and the binding documents to add support for new board and new drivers. In the future we will probably separate those into two branches, and in the long run, the plan is to move the device tree source files out of the kernel repository, but that has to wait until we have completed a much larger portion of the binding documents." 2012-07-09ARM: davinci: da8xx: fix interrupt handlingSekhar Nori1-5/+3
CP_INTC code in entry-macro.S code reads SECR1n register to see if an interrupt was indeed pending. This register is actually marked as write-only in the OMAP-L138 TRM. Moreover, the code just checks to see the entire register is non-zero and does not check a specific interrupt number. Fix this to use interrupt pending bit in GIPR register for this purpose. GIPR register is already being read to know the highest priority interrupt pending. Signed-off-by: Sekhar Nori <nsekhar@ti.com>

2012-05-09ARM: davinci: optimize the DMA ISRSebastian Andrzej Siewior1-35/+34
The ISR does quiete a lot of hw access which could be avoided. First it checks for a pending interrupt by reading alteast one register. Then it checks for the "activated" slots by reading another register. This is more or a less a must. Now, once it found an active slot it does the same two reads again. After that it "knows" that there must be a pending transfer however it cross checks with the other register. There are 32 bit in an interger which are polled instead of considering only the set bits and ignoring those which are zero. This performs atleast 32 reads which could be avoided. In case of a first match it does another read. This patch reorganizes the access by re-using the register which have been read and then uses ffs() to find the matching slot instead looping over it. By doing this we get rid of the last (32 + 2 + hits) reads. It is possible however that by really busy bank0 we never get to handle bank1. If this is a problem, we could try to handle bank1 after we are done with bank0 to check if there are any outstanding transfers. To put some numbers on this, this is from spi transfer via spidev. The first column is the number of total transfers, the time stamp is taken before and after the ioctl(): |10000, min: 542us avg: 591us |20000, min: 542us avg: 592us |30000, min: 542us avg: 592us |40000, min: 542us avg: 585us |50000, min: 542us avg: 593us The same test case with the patch applied |10000, min: 444us avg: 493us |20000, min: 444us avg: 491us |30000, min: 444us avg: 489us |40000, min: 444us avg: 491us |50000, min: 444us avg: 492us that is almost 100us that just went away. 2012-05-09ARM: davinci: implement DEBUG_LL port choiceUwe Kleine-König4-69/+31
Apart from the necessity to do this change for multi-platform kernels the previous logic depended on the zImage decompressor to write the physical and virtual address to a magic memory location. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/dhowells/linux-asm_system Pull "Disintegrate and delete asm/system.h" from David Howells: "Here are a bunch of patches to disintegrate asm/system.h into a set of separate bits to relieve the problem of circular inclusion dependencies. I've built all the working defconfigs from all the arches that I can and made sure that they don't break. The reason for these patches is that I recently encountered a circular dependency problem that came about when I produced some patches to optimise get_order() by rewriting it to use ilog2(). This uses bitops - and on the SH arch asm/bitops.h drags in asm-generic/get_order.h by a circuituous route involving asm/system.h. The main difficulty seems to be asm/system.h. It holds a number of low level bits with no/few dependencies that are commonly used (eg. memory barriers) and a number of bits with more dependencies that aren't used in many places (eg. switch_to()). These patches break asm/system.h up into the following core pieces: (1) asm/barrier.h Move memory barriers here. This already done for MIPS and Alpha. (2) asm/switch_to.h Move switch_to() and related stuff here. (3) asm/exec.h Move arch_align_stack() here. Other process execution related bits could perhaps go here from asm/processor.h. (4) asm/cmpxchg.h Move xchg() and cmpxchg() here as they're full word atomic ops and frequently used by atomic_xchg() and atomic_cmpxchg(). (5) asm/bug.h Move die() and related bits. (6) asm/auxvec.h Move AT_VECTOR_SIZE_ARCH here. Other arch headers are created as needed on a per-arch basis."
