The only difference is handling of nocache flag, that turns out to be done correctly by the generic code since arch/alpha/include/asm/io.h defines ioremap_nocache same as ioremap. 2011-11-10net: add wireless TX status socket optionJohannes Berg1-0/+3
The 802.1X EAPOL handshake hostapd does requires knowing whether the frame was ack'ed by the peer. Currently, we fudge this pretty badly by not even transmitting the frame as a normal data frame but injecting it with radiotap and getting the status out of radiotap monitor as well. This is rather complex, confuses users (mon.wlan0 presence) and doesn't work with all hardware. To get rid of that hack, introduce a real wifi TX status option for data frame transmissions. This works similar to the existing TX timestamping in that it reflects the SKB back to the socket's error queue with a SCM_WIFI_STATUS cmsg that has an int indicating ACK status (0/1). Since it is possible that at some point we will want to have TX timestamping and wifi status in a single errqueue SKB (there's little point in not doing that), redefine SO_EE_ORIGIN_TIMESTAMPING to SO_EE_ORIGIN_TXSTATUS which can collect more than just the timestamp; keep the old constant as an alias of course. Currently the internal APIs don't make that possible, but it wouldn't be hard to split them up in a way that makes it possible. 2011-08-03Add Kconfig option ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHGHuang Ying1-0/+1
cmpxchg() is widely used by lockless code, including NMI-safe lockless code. But on some architectures, the cmpxchg() implementation is not NMI-safe, on these architectures the lockless code may need a spin_trylock_irqsave() based implementation. This patch adds a Kconfig option: ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG, so that NMI-safe lockless code can depend on it or provide different implementation according to it. On many architectures, cmpxchg is only NMI-safe for several specific operand sizes. So, ARCH_HAVE_NMI_SAFE_CMPXCHG define in this patch only guarantees cmpxchg is NMI-safe for sizeof(unsigned long). 2011-07-27atomic: cleanup asm-generic atomic*.h inclusionArun Sharma1-1/+0
After changing all consumers of atomics to include <linux/atomic.h>, we ran into some compile time errors due to this dependency chain: linux/atomic.h -> asm/atomic.h -> asm-generic/atomic-long.h where atomic-long.h could use funcs defined later in linux/atomic.h without a prototype. This patches moves the code that includes asm-generic/atomic*.h to linux/atomic.h. Archs that need <asm-generic/atomic64.h> need to select CONFIG_GENERIC_ATOMIC64 from now on (some of them used to include it unconditionally). Compile tested on i386 and x86_64 with allnoconfig. Aside of the usual motivation for constification, this function has a history of being abused a hook for interrupt and other fixups so I turned this function const ages ago in the MIPS code but it should be done treewide. Due to function pointer passing in varous places a few other functions had to be constified as well. 2011-07-01perf: Remove the nmi parameter from the swevent and overflow interfacePeter Zijlstra1-1/+1
The nmi parameter indicated if we could do wakeups from the current context, if not, we would set some state and self-IPI and let the resulting interrupt do the wakeup. For the various event classes: - hardware: nmi=0; PMI is in fact an NMI or we run irq_work_run from the PMI-tail (ARM etc.) - tracepoint: nmi=0; since tracepoint could be from NMI context. - software: nmi=[0,1]; some, like the schedule thing cannot perform wakeups, and hence need 0. As one can see, there is very little nmi=1 usage, and the down-side of not using it is that on some platforms some software events can have a jiffy delay in wakeup (when arch_irq_work_raise isn't implemented). The up-side however is that we can remove the nmi parameter and save a bunch of conditionals in fast paths. commit 21a3c96 uses node_start/end_pfn(nid) for detection start/end of nodes. But, it's not defined in linux/mmzone.h but defined in /arch/???/include/mmzone.h which is included only under CONFIG_NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES=y. Then, we see mm/page_cgroup.c: In function 'page_cgroup_init': mm/page_cgroup.c:308: error: implicit declaration of function 'node_start_pfn' mm/page_cgroup.c:309: error: implicit declaration of function 'node_end_pfn' So, fixiing page_cgroup.c is an idea... But node_start_pfn()/node_end_pfn() is a very generic macro and should be implemented in the same manner for all archs. (m32r has different implementation...) This patch removes definitions of node_start/end_pfn() in each archs and defines a unified one in linux/mmzone.h. It's not under CONFIG_NEED_MULTIPLE_NODES, now. Typo (?) in osf_getsysinfo bounds minimum instead of maximum copy size, allowing copying large amounts of kernel memory to userland. 4. Usage of user pointer in osf_wait4 while under KERNEL_DS allows privilege escalation via writing return value of sys_wait4 to kernel memory. 32bit and 64bit on x86 are tested and working. The rest I have looked at closely and I can't find any problems. setns is an easy system call to wire up. It just takes two ints so I don't expect any weird architecture porting problems. While doing this I have noticed that we have some architectures that are very slow to get new system calls. cris seems to be the slowest where the last system calls wired up were preadv and pwritev. avr32 is weird in that recvmmsg was wired up but never declared in unistd.h. frv is behind with perf_event_open being the last syscall wired up. On h8300 the last system call wired up was epoll_wait. On m32r the last system call wired up was fallocate. mn10300 has recvmmsg as the last system call wired up.
